Stayed here for a weekend with a small group of us. Staff were excellent, especially Jack who was working on the Front Desk and as a concierge. Rooms very comfortable and the Calendonian beer served in the bar was a treat! Not too far from Easter Rd where Hibernian play, you could walk it. If returning with the kids, would stay here again and perhaps make use of the swimming pool

Fifteen minutes walk from Waverley station behind Carlton hill, the hotel has a pleasant outlook amongst the terraced buildings. It overlooks a small park across the cobbled street and you can see across the Forth looking towards Fife. First impressions were good even though the lobby was small. Staff throughout our stay were impressive to say the least. Room wasn't the biggest I've stayed in but it was spotless and included an ironing board and hair drier. Shower room was pristine and shower wa... Read more

Had a great weekend here!! From the moment we walked in everything exceeded our expectations. Our room was slightly on the small side but was clean & very comfortable. We did order late night pizza from room service & it was really nice!! Also got breakfast in bed one morning again it was really good. Jack on reception was so helpful noting was too much trouble for him!! I do agree with the below review with regards the shower curtains maybe they should change them as they do stick to your body ... Read more

Just gotten back form a short break with the other half. It was a birthday trip for him as he is a big fan of whisky. The hotel is lovely and cant fault it. We was on the 3rd floor at the back of the hotel and had a nice view over the gardens. I can not fault Scott or Jack from the hotel. They have made us want to plan another trip. Jacks knowledge of tours and best places to check out for the day was great. And we endded up booking on a rabbies discover malt whisky tour. (Highly recommened!!)... Read more

Not a busy time of year, so price was good Good place to stay as it is 10min to walk to the centre of town and quiet in the evening. The room was nice. The noise from the aircon and fan on the bathroom was not. Actually wakes you up, so should be looked into. Asked for a simple change of batteries in the Concept2 machine at the Gym. It was never exchanged.... The gym has been worn down a bit the last 12 months. Should be looked into as well. Nice breakfast! With good service Parking outside c... Read more

Stayed for Valentine's Day. Had a positive experience for the most part. We booked through IHG website since we are rewards club members but when we went to check-in they couldn't find our reservation and after searching for some length of time eventually found it but the room we booked had been taken?! They did have another room available which was great, however, slightly worrying because what if there was no other rooms available. So, not the best start to the trip. The hotel needs a bit of a... Beautiful building, well appointed with the consistently good customer service being the stand out feature. I was lucky enough to receive a room upgrade due to the noise of the lift keeping me awake in my allocated room. My new room was an eye opener (see photos) but slight let down by malfunctioning shower and plug sockets. The breakfast is highly recommended, with a large range for all tastes. I was always seated promptly, with coffee waiting as soon as I got back from the buffet. Gym is ab... Read more
