Clean if somewhat basic hotel. You're never going to get a huge amount for the money you pay but staff were helpful, the room was decent, location fine as well. Truthfully couldn't ask for more considering the low price. Good value.

We get the room next to the street, a little bit noise, but we sleep without problem, except the mattress was super used and your body slowly goes to the middle :) The room was freshly painted, no dust in the room, iron machine + table. Over those things, the price was good, and we was impressed because they make some reparations in the building, so they care. Step by step.

The hotel itself is a little tatty around the edges like the hallways are not decorated particularly well. That said the room was very clean and tidy the only grumble was the window didn't shut properly so we had the heating on all night. All in all though for the money we payed it was well worth it.

Before staying here I read a few mixed reviews of the Britannia hotel , I thought for the price I would give it a try as it's close to city centre ( £24 per night ) The check in was easy and quick , room was spacious and comfortable with Tv, kettle , tea, iron ,hair dryer , wifi etc The hotel itself is little bit tired in some areas but nothing really to complain about , I originally booked 1 night and stayed 2 ! Car parking around hotel 5 pound for 24 hours Would stay here again without quest... Read more

Amazing weekend spent here. Good space, great view from our room and friendly, helpful staff. After a 10 - 15 minute walk through scenic surrounds you find yourself in the city centre. Would certainly stay there each time we visit Edinburgh.

When we arrived we were met by an extremely pleasant Lithuanian women who like all the hotel staff were so accommodating. The room had all the amenities you would expect from a good hotel. They offered very reasonably priced buffet dinner and breakfast. The only draw back I could think would be location as it was 20 minute walk to all tourist attractions as such. Very reasonably priced so would most definitely be back.

Metal rod sticking out of the end of the mattress. Noisy due to constantly creaking floorboards. Unhelpful staff. Dreadful breakfast. Woken up at 6:40 on our last day by the fire alarm (just before my 6 hour drive home) the alarm was turned off after a few seconds but no explanation or apology was forthcoming when I checked out.

Really bad experience. The room was very cold because of 2 reasons. The heater was tiny and thermostat kept turning off before it heated the room and the window even when closed had a big draft coming through. We entered the room and turned on one lamp because the room is dark with all ceiling lights on and the lamp was purely decoration and wasnt even plugged in. Not even near a socket. There were only 2 plug sockets useable in the entire room. Not enough towels for 2 people. One small and one... Read more

We always liked staying at the Britannia Hotel (formerly Travelodge) - the location is perfect for us (located on the Water of Leith) and it has ample parking which is not too expensive. However, on our recent visit we were really disappointed. This hotel is tired and in need of some desperate TLC. Our first room was filthy, I reported this and we were moved to another room. Our second room was not the cleanest either, the carpet was threadbare and the bathroom and furniture was tired. This... Read more

Stayed here for one night including breakfast. Generally not too clean (sheets were marked, my girlfriend's towel had blood on it, dirty soap, a mouldy shower curtain and the surfaces were sticky) and it was a very cold, dark room. We were next to a busy street and were kept awake by the noise all night. Walls were thin, we could hear next door's TV. The breakfast was disgusting. We paid £8 each and overall ended up eating 1 and a half very dry croissants. Couldn't bear to try the fried food. D... Read more
