Very comfortable 10-day stay, and very close to bus stops into the main city. A trip of a lifetime for my wife's 50th. Staff were very helpful. They went beyond their normal duty to help with change and with the taxi (after the one we had booked was a no-show), and took our cleaning in for us from an outside laundry service. They left us a few treats in the room every day, and didn't whinge about us eating in the room, causing more trash/bottles. We ordered room service once; it was very tasty... Read more

I booked through at a reasonable price but still felt disappointed with the accomodation and the food provided. Room tired and dated, tepid water in bathroom , a poor dinner and a very average breakfast. For dinner my partner had a fish pie which consisted mostly of cheap salmon and watery mashed potato, much worse than many inexpensive supermarket versions, while I had a very tough pork chop. Both dishes were served without vegetables. I know the hotel is in Scotland but surely... Read more

Unfortunately a slightly negative review. Wifi is unusable for anything(i use 4g as i type this!) The room was nice but cold. Bathroom sink tiny had to fill the kettle from the shower. Service at bfast extremely poor and slow. To end on a positive mote the staff are very friendly when you can get hold of them amd the hotel is very nicely furnished. Would use again as a last resort unfortunately.

Well equipped hotel with friendly staff. Bedrooms and public areas are clean and well maintained. Good food - breakfast & dinner. We stayed for 3 nights and would certainly stay again when visiting Edinburgh.

We were greeted by a piper in full regalia. We were shown into a private with complimentary welcome drinks. Once again, the piper announced time to take your table. The food service was speedy and slick. The food was lovely and piping hot. The live band played music to suit all tastes and were excellent. Just after midnight the piper piped us outside onto the large deck to view the fireworks from the castle. What a fabulous show. After that the band played until 1am. What a wonderful night! We ... Stayed one night on a deal, it was great value, enjoyed my stay. I had an excellent room , comfortable and clean (except for a few little things, which didn't spoil it). Dinner was good , breakfast was a wee bit busy and I think understaffed ....there was always a wait for something at the buffet whether it be glasses for orange juice or fried eggs. When available it was all delicious. The staff were very helpfull and I cannot praise them enough. I would definitely retuurn as it is so convenient... Read more

Nice hotel in good location. Stayed on an 'Itison' deal for one night. Room and shower room were tiny and glad we were only in it for 1 night. I guess you get the least nice rooms when staying on a deal. Had drinks in the bar & meal in restaurant both really good. Staff all friendly without exception. Nice walk into town takes about an hour and lots of shops/cafes to browse on route. Would return but opt for a better room.

stayed for new years period whilst attending hogmanay festive on new years eve. room was comfortable and staff friendly ate in restaurant for evening meal and that was ok had breakfast new years day; it was £14.95pp, however this was extremely disappointing. the porridge was like gruel, the baps were stale and the cooked breakfast whilst in heated containers was not hot. the only juices available were orange and apple. the orange juice wasn't fresh and poor quality. whilst would stay at hotel ... We were here for an overnight with breakfast. The hotel was clean and well run although reception seem to be a little understaffed. The bus stop which takes you right to the city centre is next to the hotel and costs £1.60. Breakfast had mostly everything you would want although had one of my pet hates, a self toaster which you need to put the bread through twice. All in all a good hotel at affordable price would definitely return.

we are a Spanish couple we stayed here for a few days we recommend the hotel lovely staff apart from the unpleasant breakfast chef who with a ginger head was, last Tuesday, shouting and verbally abusing the waiters and the customers for the simple reasons that we started taking food a few minutes before 7am. He was totally disrespectful to customer and staff we were scared as we didn't understand much of what he was saying in English but it sounded horrible He has ruined our day
