I have stayed her a few times now, on business and love the location. The staff are really friendly, on reception, bar and restaurant. There is plenty of parking and the rooms are fine with comfy beds. This time, though, I was a little disappointed with the food, both evening meal and breakfast. Breakfast, particularly, wasn't as good as I remember it on previous occasions.

Stayed over the weekend. Room was at the back and small. But other rooms looked good and spacious. Worth requesting larger rooms with elevated views, as we looked out at the car park. Public areas are great and well furnished, ditto the bar and restaurant. Terrace area looks good too. Worth a visit and good car parking, which is hard to find in Edinburgh.

Had a very good stay here. We booked the executive room which had wonderful views over the valley in front of the hotel. The room was spacious and elegantly decorated. The bathroom had both a bath and over bath shower. Water in the room was replenished when empty. The hotel staff were friendly and the food was good. The breakfast whilst a buffet was kept well stocked and had good haggis portions too. The hotel had a good relaxed atmosphere. We felt this hotel exceeded its star rating which may ... Read more

What a lovely stay! The receptionists were very welcoming. Our rooms had been upgraded and both were beautiful. A secret staircase in mine led to an upstairs double bed. Very comfortable twin beds in the main part of the room with exceptionally clean ensuite. Breakfast was buffet-style and it had a great selection. Would love to go back!

I like Best Western Hotels. Their atmosphere evokes staying at old country houses, without the tedium of having to spend the afternoon shooting at defenceless birds, before breaking your teeth on unremoved pellets, when they are served up for dinner later on in your stay. The staff are usually attentive and friendly and the food is usually good. I found a late deal for a single room here. I had been expecting a broom cupboard, but the room was a good size for a single, had obviously been recen... Read more

Only stayed for one night, great room, had a great view. We were on the top floor, no lift, so if you not great with stairs make sure you get a ground floor room. Maybe a bit far out. There was a bus stop very close buy though. Friendly staff. Car park got full, we had to park on the street, but was free.

I stayed at the Braid Hills Hotel for two nights earlier this week. Overall I was very pleased with the hotel and the staff, especially the ladies at the reception desk who were very friendly and helpful. The view from my room was beautiful and the room itself spotless and extremely comfortable. The only negative point was that I did not receive the 4.15 am wake-up call I had requested in order to get to the airport for an early flight. Hotel about 15 minutes outside Edinburgh. We stayed there for a night. We were placed in the annex in a nice room but felt a bit out of it. The room was accessed by a steep staircase which was a bit of a struggle, A little disappointed that we were offered no help in getting the room especially in the rain. The evening meal was quite nice but not exceptional; The breakfast was good.

The hotel is nice and the view is lovely. Our complaint is that we were assigned room 205, and were not told there would be a wedding reception that evening. The music and DJ were clearly heard in our room until 1 AM, and at 3 AM it sounded like the staff was restocking. We had very little sleep, and when we talked to the receptionist, her response was an apparent lack of concern. Very disappointing and we would not stay there again.

Bus can be court at the bottom of the steps just outside to hotel. The bus 11 takes approx 20 minutes to get you into the centre of Edinburgh.costing only £1.60 for a single or £4.00 for a day pass. The rooms were very clean a great use of the space available. The bar prices were reasonable for a city hotel. Wifi code given on arrival and a strong signal ... Read more

We arrived at the hotel and were greeted by a very friendly receptionist, when we arrived in our room we were thoroughly delighted with size , decor , cleanliness (it was spotless) , and too cap it off we had a great view of the city, ( my only small criticism would be that the tv plug was loose and needed attention - room 204 )The bar is well stocked and the Guinness is the best I've tasted in ages, it's nice and cosy in the bar too. We ate both nights in the restaurant and were impressed with... Read more

This was our second visit to Braid Hills hotel and like our first it was a lovely stay. This time I brought my 80 year old parents who also thought it was wonderful. The rooms (Clan Rooms) were fabulous, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was both great and plentiful. All the staff (restaurant, bar, housekeeping and reception) were lovely. Thank you. We will be visiting again. Well done

Stayed a couple of nights in October and was impressed with lots about this hotel. Booked a deluxe room as we wanted the views of Edinburgh and were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to the signature room at check in. The hotel is spotless clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is buffet style with lots of options for all tastes. We had dinner both nights in the hotel and the food was good. Location is about 3 miles south of Edinburgh city centre but is on a bus route and th... Read more

We had a nice lunch here in a restaurant with a lovely view (- but perhaps they could trim the laurel hedge to make the view a bit clearer?!) Two of our party were gluten free but the chef was happy to make a fresh fish pie with no flour in it and it arrived fresh and delicious - if a bit heavy on the capers! The chicken breast with a haggis and chicken braidie was deemed to be excellent as well as was the lamb rump. However, the only punters on aThursday lunchtime was us and one other couple... Read more

I stayed here for one night on a business trip. It was excellent value and the food for both dinner and breakfast was good. The only downside to it was the double bed was two singles pushed together. if I wanted a single bed I would have requested one. The evening staff could do with some training. When they put the food down it's usual to ask if you need anything else. They just put the food down and go to walk away. I was eating a burger and chips and had to call back and ask for salt, vineg... Read more

We had a great room and comfortable king-size bed. Pity about the tiny shower-room and lack of lighting in the shower. The breakfast buffet was unfortunately only average with a poor choice of continental breakfast items and staff appeared to find it difficult to keep supply of appetising food up to scratch at peak times.

This was our second visit to this hotel. The reason we chose this hotel was because it has parking in their grounds. The hotel is a 15-20 minute bus ride into Princess Street Number 11 bus £1.60 which picks you up just outside the hotel. Since our last visit the hotel has refurbished the bedrooms and we were delighted to be upgraded at no extra cost to a beautiful large bedroom overlooking the whole of Edinburgh. We have just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay. The hotel is perfect base for a visit to Edinburgh and the surrounding area. The staff are fantastic nothing is too much trouble. We had 2 double rooms and although they were a little on the small side, they were more than adequate for a short stay. The hotel provides free car parking with ample parking spaces. The bedrooms are kept spotless and are well maintained. The hotel has a restaurant and bar which also serves bar snacks. We ate ... Read more

We were contacted by this hotel as previous customers and offered a very good package as a 'Loyalty reward'. We were greeted by a friendly staff and then served a cream tea in the sitting area. Our room was on the 2nd floor and overlooked the city. The room was very comfortable with a double bed made up of 2 singles. The bathroom was spacious with modern fitments. The shower over a bath. There was a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities in the room. We dined in the 1886 restaurant and had a go... Read more

Just back from a lovely 2 night stay here. We were here about 5 years ago but since then it's been refurbished and we were really impressed. The hotel has a lot of character and has been tastefully decorated. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Although we didn't eat here we would definitely return again and a massive bonus is having the free parking

I have to say the funeral tea I attended was second to none, just excellent. There was plenty of room, a place to hang coats and tea and coffee with sandwiches and sausage rolls. There is no doubt the staff were hand picked, pleasant and well able to cope with a crowd.

I'd booked a table for a Friday night family dinner for five. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived but it had a good atmosphere and the room was attractive. The menu was varied, however the gluten-free choices were not great despite the hotel advertising that they could cater for special diets. We ordered, the starters came quickly and were very tasty. The mains took a bit longer but we weren't in a hurry. Unfortunately however, just as they were coming out of the kitchen, the swing doo... Read more

The hotel is really quirky (in a good way) the team are very friendly and helpful and the location is OK for easy access to the CBD and areas around Edinburugh. The "but" is because the shower in my room (and my friends room staying on the same floor in a different room) didnt flow to get wet I had to run round the bath tub so to speak. It was like the water flow restirctor had been turned to super water flow restriction and the water came out with a very light flow, not enough ... Read more

Arrived a few hours ago for a 3 night stay. What a lovely hotel, cosy bar area and restaurant overlooking the city. We opted for a bar lunch and chose the hot sharing platter, delicious! Very attentive but not overly intrusive barman & waiter. I enjoyed a coffee after our lunch while hubby went for a life stroll then we checked into our room - beautiful. Looks as though it's been recently refurbished. Bathroom also recently done, stylish and pristine. Looking forward to the rest of our stay and... Read more

This was our second week-end visit, last visit was 24/25 Sept. The room was on the third floor, well furnished and decorated , clean and has all the facilities. Except the sink in the bathroom was very small. Unfortunately ,Breakfast was Luke warm and self service, staff were very sluggish, and the breakfast was not worth £14.95 per person. For this kind of money I would expect freshly cooked breakfast and a menu. Another downfall there are No Lifts. It has it's good points but there is a need... Read more

Great hotel in handy location with car parking. Very comfortable rooms/beds and plenty warm and cosy for these cold winter nights. Staff are helpful and there is good food in the restaurant. We have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions and will continue to use it on our trips to Edinburgh.

we are a Spanish couple we stayed here for a few days we recommend the hotel lovely staff apart from the unpleasant breakfast chef who with a ginger head was, last Tuesday, shouting and verbally abusing the waiters and the customers for the simple reasons that we started taking food a few minutes before 7am. He was totally disrespectful to customer and staff we were scared as we didn't understand much of what he was saying in English but it sounded horrible He has ruined our day

We were here for an overnight with breakfast. The hotel was clean and well run although reception seem to be a little understaffed. The bus stop which takes you right to the city centre is next to the hotel and costs £1.60. Breakfast had mostly everything you would want although had one of my pet hates, a self toaster which you need to put the bread through twice. All in all a good hotel at affordable price would definitely return.
