We had a very enjoyable 2 night weekend for our first visit to the Hydro Hotel and it lived up to all the recommendations. The sunny weather helped to enjoy lunches in the conservatory. The staff from arrival and throughout our stay were all really helpful. The bedroom faced the front and had a lovely view. We will no doubt visit the hotel again when we go to Eastbourne.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights from 26th May. The has charm and elegance with very friendly and competent staff. It represented very good value and the food was very good served, in nice surroundings. The hotel has some lovely touches such as giving vouchers for wine on both evenings, tea and coffee making, including biscuits topped up daily. The white bath towels were very large and luxurious, possibly the best we have had in any hotel. My husband and l have just returned home after a week's holiday at The Hydro. It was our first stay, although we had visited the hotel for afternoon tea several years back on the recommendation of a Sussex-based friend. From the moment of our arrival, we were treated like royalty. The service in all areas is top-notch. We were tired after a long drive so a porter was called to help us with our three cases to our room on the first floor. Our room was well appointed with a view to die for. W... Read more

The room was appalling. The window was about two meters from the opposite building. The windows were closed and the temperature in the room was very high. I'm delighted to say that under the control of new General Manager Mr Owen, the service is even better than before and the restaurant food has really taken a step forward with modern twists to traditional dishes. Made a return visit to The Hydro - would be there more often if it wasn't so far away - and from arriving to departure, we have experienced the same excellent standard as we have had in the past. Couldn't find fault with any aspect of the hospitality received although a coat or two of paint wouldn't go amiss. There were a few extras on this occasion that really put the icing on the cake.

My extended family stayed here to celebrate my mother in law's 90th birthday. From initial group booking till checking out, the process was very easy. The hotel is perfect for this type of celebration as there are lots of areas to 'gather' as a group - not private, but almost. All staff were most attentive and helped the weekend to be a success. To sum up, The Hydro is a quintessentially English hotel and offers all that you would expect to go with that description.
