I stayed here on a business trip and was expecting just the typical holiday inn ... And that's what I got. The walls were so thin I could hear the bloke next door talking until the small hours. I requested meat, dairy and gluten free options for the included breakfast. It did not happen. Breakfast was beans and some very insipid eggs, when I asked for soya milk, I was told to request it in advance.... I had!!! Think I may give holiday inn express a miss next time

I have stayed in a few Holiday Inn Expresses over the years and Holiday Inn Express Dunfermline is by far my favourite. The staff are amazingly friendly. The hotel is very dog friendly. This hotel allows dogs into the bar area so our Border Terrier could join us for an evening drink (he wasn't drinking, obviously). The breakfast was delicious. The sausages were fantastic. The coffee was incredible. I don't know where they get it from but it was delicious. The room was clean and modern. It ha... Read more

On our annual trip to Scotland we usually stay a few nights then stay with relatives but this year due to a bereavement we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Dunfermline for most of our 3 weeks.AS USUAL FANTASTIC STAFF!!!! Quite a few new faces but all have the "can do " attitude!! We stay regularly at the Intercontinental Sydney and love it there and I can honestly say that the staff at Holiday Inn Express Dunfermline are on a par to the staff there!!! We've stayed at this hotel before and it was and still is great value in a good location with lots of car park space and near to a good pub for food. The rooms are modern and clean, the breakfast area is light and airy and the lounge - if you can use it, see below - is comfortable. What makes the place is the staff - some of the best I've experienced regardless of the hotel rating. They are consistently wonderful -professional and efficient but remaining friendly and welcoming. As long as you are aware what facilities and amenities the hotel does and does not have as an Express you will be happy. Really nice hotel especially with its grounds and outdoor seating area. Above all best part is the Team.. so so nice to see a team with such a connection and co-operative buzz. The team work together so well e.g. Trish the Head Housekeeper helping with Breakfast whilst not on shift technically, and Charlie assisting with a conference when finished his shift hours ago. Cleanliness of rooms is fine,in the room you will find everything you need for one or two nights. Gentleman who checked us in probably didn't know how look like floor plan and location of rooms - we requested a room in a quiet zone and we got centrally in front of the elevator facing the loud streets?! The quality of food at breakfast, is absolutely horrible... We asked for high chair for our little one- It was so dirty that this is indescribable. Unfortunately, the next we got was in the same ... The Holiday Inn Express in Dunfermline offers really good accommodation at budget prices. The price includes breakfast which is substantial but budget quality. The rooms are good, there is a bar and basic restaurant facilities. There are plenty pf car parking spaces and its close to the motorway but too far to walk into Dunfermline. We would happily stay there again and have booked to stay at the Holiday Inn express in Stirling.

I've stayed in all kinds of holiday inns, from Thailand, to the US and all over the UK. This is the worst one (so far). The rooms are small and, although clean, feel dated and run down. No mini bar, not even bottled water. No room service and they only have a very basic menu, that you have to collect, of reheated pizza or curry. The lift is small and claustrophobic and I couldn't find the stairs to use them. The WORST part was breakfast. Deep fried cheap sausages; dripping in grease, ov... Read more

Always someone there to assist you and the staff went out their way for me and my friend. Very clean room decent amneties. Good location, there is nice pub within 5 minutes walking distance serving food until 9. Town centre only a short bus/taxi ride away. Rooms are incredibly clean and comfortable. Can't fault it for the price, especially when it includes breakfast.

Very Poor selection at breakfast especially in terms of hot food. Did not have a good sleep at all due to the beds being on wheels and moving at the slightest touch. Was very noisy despite being at the end of the hotel which was quite far back from the main road and having windows shut. Staff were mostly friendly but I do not think we will be back, disappointed to be honest!

My mother and I stayed here for five nights on our recent trip to Scotland. The location was excellent for exploring Edinburgh, via a short train ride from a nearby station, and the surrounding area. The staff were very nice and helpful during our stay. Our twin room was relatively spacious and, though overlooking the car park, was very quiet. The breakfast selection was okay, but not great. The second morning we had to wait for more food to be prepared. My only real recommendation would b... Read more

We had a family room consisting of 1 double bed and a sofa bed, the room was quite small but clean and modern. Breakfast was good, with a good selection. Our room only had a few plug points, none of these were near a mirror, which was annoying for drying hair. Our room had wifi but not a strong signal. Overall was good value for a 1 night stay.

Budget hotel - many things as expected. Small rooms, double bed with a sofa bed, which when folded out leaves very little space. No bath, only a shower. Buffet breakfast was limited, but then it is free. Cheaper than Edinburgh, but a good 20 minute drive + the roadworks on the bridge.

I usually stay in Hamilton, but due to most hotels in that area being full, i had to stay in Dunfermline. The hotel is opposite a shopping area with a supermarket just across the road. There is a Harvester restaurant 5 mins walk away, which served very nice food. The hotel as you enter is clean and the greeting was warm. Stayed here for 1 night as a stopover between Edinburgh and St Andrews. Cheap and cheerful hotel with an all serving reception/bar/restaurant upon entry. The lift felt like it would breakdown at any moment, and the rooms were very basic - but then that's what the "Express" model is for Holiday Inn. We had booked a room for 2 adults and an infant, but on arrival we had no cot in our room. Reception fixed this instantly for us, which was good. The hotel is quiet, and whilst the bed is quite s... Stayed here one night with the family. The usual holiday Inn express. Get what you pay for. Rooms are a bit small for staying more than one night I think with a family. The room we were in could possibly be done with a bit of a refurb and freshen up. Friendly welcoming helpful staff on check in. Breakfast time looked to be short staffed with only one person on clearing and cleaning tables amongst other things. Breakfast was good with a limited but ample selection to get you through the morning.

Stayed here for a few nights in August. Somehow the number of people staying in our rooms did not filter through to the hotel from the booking site. The rooms with sofa beds were ok but too small for 4 people - for £100 night which is expensive for a hi express in this part of the country we expected a bit more, though the main bed was very comfortable. One day when we arrived back late the sofa bed had not been made up but was hurriedly sorted when we complained. Breakfast was badly organis... Read more

The rooms are great but the food really lets this place down. The 24 hour pizza option is good quality, but it is a Chicago Town Takeaway pizza for £10! The other food options are terrible; burgers manage to be dry as cardboard in one half and wetter than a weekend in the Lake District on the other half (they must have a magical microwave). Have stayed in many HIEs so know what to expect and for price always reasonable value for money. However the layout and quality of the breakfast lets it down completely. In fact layout so poor I gave up trying to collect breakfast as many people were squashed seemingly confused as to where the plates etc. Were. I did have a coffee but was undrinkable so left and got a breakfast elsewhere.

Hotel is located just off the M90 opposite a retail park. Parking is free. Check-in was quick and easy. Staff were friendly. Room was clean, tidy and well maintained. Breakfast was the "normal" Holiday Inn Express selection of hot and cold items. If visiting Dunfermline town center then local buses are frequent and stop on the main road near the hotel.

Really like this place, very relaxed easy to find and no stress with parking the car. Rooms were very clean and modern with a lovely comfortable bed. Great bar area with TV to catch up on the news and football with great service. The only thing going against this place is the food choice with only a limited bar menu to choose from, no problem for me on my own.
