For goodness sake Hilton !!! Gorgeous room, lovely staff but the basics !!! No condiments on table, white wine not chilled, dirty dishes on adjoining tables not cleared, silly crockery, scruffy exterior to dining area which in itself is stunning. Pulling shutters down on the bar basically says " go away", when I queried is because " customers steal " ....REALLY !!!!.... Franchisees need to go and stay at a real hotel !! Great location - great hotel appearance, great grounds and gardens. Some of the best hotel and restaurant service I have had in my business travels. Have stayed at this hotel many times for the staff service, restaurant, and great amenities. A visit to St. Andrews for a family reunion saw my wife and I, plus my two daughters, ending up staying at the Doubletree as there were no rooms in St. Andrews. Some golf tournament or other! Eventually get to the hotel about 9.30p.m., having checked in online, and warned the hotel of the late arrival. Not a problem, they said, and do it turned out. Rooms quite spacious, good level of fittings and decor, soft but comfortable bed. Surprised that there wasn't a fridge in the room, but that ... Read more

My sister in law treated myself and my husband to dinner on Saturday. We arrived early, were left in the bar, had to remind staff we were there for dinner. Ordered Moët champagne, not available, offered next best which was acceptable. Ordered dinner, starters were lovely. Waited over an hour for the main course, had to request it. Ordered sweets which were disappointing , 2 sweets sent back as inedible. Waiting staff very apologetic but too many diners and not enough staff. Received free... Read more

We went to this hotel without much thought about it. know. Great hotel...standard stuff. It even looks unassuming when you pull up. But once inside...holy cow! The property is beautiful! It's a combination of old with new. Rustic is the word I would use. And I can't say enough about the staff. They really took care of us on our stay. I suggest getting the fruit plate and champagne. I stayed at the Double Tree by Hilton for the first time last Sunday night, prior toa medical appointment at Ninewells Hospital. I took advantage of the Hilton Sale rate, which included dinner, bed and breakfast. The food was very good, and the staff in the lounge bar (where I ate) were attentive and friendly. This was a night to regroup and carry on with our tour of Scotland, so we only stayed one night. We were very surprised to find a great restaurant on the property as well as a beautiful garden! The history of the area was documented with a nice display in the lobby area showing the industry that once kept the community thriving. The original house from the estate was used by the Double Tree, as well as an additional building that was built especially for guests. We ate dinner in the restauran... Read more

It has been a few years since we had been back to this hotel, which is now a Hilton. It has had a renovation, but unfortunately much of the work is just cosmetic - a lick of paint over things and some new carpets, rather than a full strip down and upgrade. On the plus side our room was lovely and the staff were helpful and cheery. The evening meal was also great, but the breakfast unfortunately was more like the offering from a transport cafe. This hotel is in a lovely setting and has so much po... Read more

First impressions are of a 60's motel added to a Victorian house. Check in was smooth with no issues, with a chocolate chip cookie. The room was very comfortable, decorated to a high standard, with all the usual features. The bathroom was spacious with both a bath and a shower, and lots of toiletries left out. With the room being so well appointed, it was a bit of a disappointment to find the food not quite hitting the mark. The scones for afternoon tea were microwaved and quite solid. Breakfa... Read more

We spent 3 nights at the hotel recently. The room was comfortable but not plush. Tea and coffee making facilities and the usual amenities in place. We had to call maintenance three times as our lights kept going out but they were quick to sort this out. I would of liked more towels in the room. The breakfast was very nice and the lady in charge of the dining room was a joy to see every morning. So polite, cheerful and professional, she made breakfast a very nice experience, a very very valued me... Read more

Hotel is excellent. There were a few problems with restaurant / Bar due to a lot of new staff. However management did endeavour to alleviate these issues. As usual everything else was up to the usual excellent standards and looking forward to my next trip there at the end of October.

Good and quiet location. Food is well cooked but limited choice. Beds are king size and comfortable and wifi is free in rooms if Hilton Honors members. (We are ???). Downside is no lift, best on ground floor.

Had another great stay here, the staff are warm and friendly and the new menu in the restaurant is delicious ??? Dundee continues to surprise us with things to do with the family. This time visited the transport museum, Broughtyferry castle and Dundee Law, all within 10minutes of the hotel. Looking forward to our next stay ???

Fantastic overnight stay with family to celebrate my 60th birthday. Deluxe rooms are lovely with large bath/shower room, well appointed and with complimentary wifi. Bar/lounge is very relaxing with large TV and fireplace. Quad spa is very relaxing with small pool, steam room and sauna also has large gym. Restaurant was comfortable, evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Hotel grounds are very nice and well tended. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and accomodating. Hope to stay again in... The room was well fitted out, food was good, bar well stocked and reasonably priced. Well attended to in dining room at diner and breakfast. However lack of ventilation from A/C or opening window made atmosphere in room stuffy and uncomfortable.

First time here and other than some minor issues which should have been addressed before arrival spent a lovely time with my wife. Dinner was exceptional lovely restaurant as was breakfast. The actual Hotel was a lot smaller than I imagined but was nevertheless cosy especially as it was yet agin a raining weekend. Hilton staff as always attentive especially in the Restaurant. Recommended for a shot stay.

This is a decent hotel - easy to get to, plenty parking, and its child friendly. The food is good and dining in the conservatory at night is lovely. The swimming pool was great for the kids to splash around - if I had one slight moan it would be that there is no hot tub (there is a sauna and steam room) and that the staff could be slightly better organized - all very friendly and helpful, but often when one was asked for something (coffee at breakfast, drinks at dinner) you had to eventually c... Stayed for 2 nights whilst in Dundee for a friends wedding. Hotel was well presented. room was clean and tidy, spacious. We had a king room. Shower was nice and powerful. No noise issues from other guest for us as we were near the end of a corridor so not many people passing our door. Breakfast was really nice - cooked well, friendly and helpful staff. As we were just either here or at the wedding venue I can't say to much on whether the location was good to explore Dundee, but I would consider... Read more
