One of the new looking holiday inns, room was excellent, as was the general service. Good location just off the A1. We eat at the hotel and there was a mix up, and my colleague's food wasn't ordered, so that wasn't ideal as I had my food and he didn't have his. They did make it up though with his food not being charged for.

I chose the Darlington Holiday Inn as it was reasonably priced(£44) and it was on the A1. My partner and I decided to have a long weekend on May day weekend in Edinburgh but the journey from Norwich was 7 hours so we chose a night here. The staff on arrival were pleasent, the 2 girls behind the desk were helpful. We then ate at the restaurant which was again fine. The problems started when going to sleep at around 12am. There had been a wedding function on and the families were in and out of ea... Read more

We stayed here recently and found the staff to be friendly, courteous and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast options were good, but I would say the dinner menu was average. This could have been because there was a 50th party being held at the hotel. The positive in terms of the noise from the party was that that bar and restaurant are the opposite end of the hotel from the rooms, so no issue there. We didn't experience any issue with noise from the party in general, but w... Read more

There is a good car park (free), the hotel is located just off the main road. The check in was efficient despite the queue. The room was a good size including a sofa bed and big desk. There were plenty of power sockets, but they were all by the desk and not by the bed. The arrangement of the sink is unusual but didn't cause me a problem. The shower was a strong powerful one. The room wasn't quiet dark enough at night, but there was no noise from outside or adjacent rooms. The free wifi was easy t... Read more

Stayed here for one night, and found it very clean and friendly. Would definitely recommend as a stopover, or to visit surrounding area. Breakfast was very nice, and the staff were attentive. Beds were comfy, and room was spotless. I hope to return.

We stayed here for 2 weekend nights with a dinner package on one of the nights. Bedroom was large and roomy with everything you needed. The restaurant served tasty food which was reasonably priced. All the staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

We previously stayed at this hotel when it was an Aston hotel and though it has been taken over by the Holiday Inn its still a great place to stay. The staff were very friendly and efficient, the hotel was spotless and the room spacious. The breakfast was excellent witha great variety of fresh cooked and cold food. We will be definitely be returning throughly recommended.

We were unable to book the Holiday Inn, Scotch Corner, which would have put us closer to the wedding venue and to be quite honest I was somewhat apprehensive as we pulled in to the car park. Security was clearly a little lacking with the CCTV and entry/exit barrier in disrepair Straight forward enough at reception and an upgrade to boot. Rooms was extremely clean and tidy with everything we would need. Had great assistance from the staff to arrange taxi etc and a meal in the bar was just what w... Read more

Holiday Inn Darlington. Room 117. Nice room, staff is fine. Dinner was real good. The only drawback is that a couple of the lights were not working and there is no power outlet close enough to the bed for my cpap (the folks at the front desk were very quick to supply an extension cord though). We stopped here for one night on route home to Scotland from France. Having stayed at a Holiday Inn in Ashford the previous evening which was an enjoyable stay, the main difference was the value for money at this Holiday Inn. We are a family of 4 who stayed in a family room with breakfast included for under £65! The room was clean and comfortable, staff were friendly and the food served in the restaurant was fresh and very tasty. There was also a table football and selection of board games in t... Read more

Appears I'm running against the trend here. Firstly, the staff are very good. Friendly and attentive. No complaints here. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Nothing better than Premier Inn or similar. But the whole place is souleless. Went to dinner in what was more like a canteen than a restaurant. However, the worst thing was the food. Asked for a medium steak without mushrooms. I got served àn overcooked piece of gristle with a load of mushrooms. Chips and peas were okay, but the steak wa... Read more

I travelled up to Darlington for a work induction event, held at this Holiday Inn and I thought it'd be a good idea to leave a review for anyone thinking of staying or using it for business functions in the near future. First off its in prime location - straight off the motorway and tucked away off its own separate round-about rather than right next to the mcdonalds & petrol station. Its decorated well - very modern and the staff are very friendly. The function room we used was great and spac... Read more

Chose hotel for convenience - it's not that inspiring and couldn't figure if it was modern or 70's and updated - however, it was exceptionally pleasant, staff were great, beers proper and a decent breakfast - better than your average Holiday Inn experience. The price topped it - excellent value for money - will be staying again.

Overview. Due to work circumstances, I have not used the Holiday Inn Group UK Hotels for a number of years, and consequently was not sure what to expect. I need not have worried. From registration to departure we had a most comfortable, pleasant stay and can certainly recommend this Hotel to others. Location. The Hotel is situated just off Junction 59 on the A1(M) so, whilst not being part of Darlington per se, it is a very convenient place to access by car, with obviously the further de... Read more

Well we're back here again and loving this place just as much as previously. In fact we had the best sleep ever last night. We both slept for 11 hours, woke at 9.20am and almost missed breakfast! However, feeling somewhat guilty, we found all the staff were amazing and didn't grumble, to the contrary they were pleased we'd had such a good, relaxing sleep. Yes, we'll definitely be back again in the future.

Nice room with good facilities and friendly staff. Stayed two nights whilst touring the area and had 1 hiccup on our first night with one of our meals which we reported to the staff to be poor quality and over-priced for what it consisted of. Other than this everything else was good and on checking out they offered to cancel the charge on both our meals and two drinks which we thought was very generous, Instead we payed for one meal and both drinks which we thought was farer. !! Stayed here last weekend, just for 1 night. Lovely hotel from the start. Susan the receptionist was very efficient and polite, we even had a laugh as my name is the same. Lovely clean and spacious room, a trifle warm, could do with a summer weight duvet, but none the less we still had a good nights uninterrupted sleep !

Not your normal Holiday Inn, more an up market Holiday Inn Express , but having said that it was very good. Polite and friendly staff and a nice comfortable room, disappointingly there we no safes in the room but there were in the reception area which is good idea. Breakfast limited but very good. Ideal location of the A1(M) and getting around the area. Will certainly return when next in the area

This hotel is well run and in a great location on route to Scotland. We requested a quiet room and this worked very well so we had a great nights sleep. All staff were very helpful and breakfast a good standard with ample tables. I think this must have been the best IHG breakfast we have had. I do wish other guests would not take mobile phone calls at the table. It's the new age! A very good stay and we would be happy to return.

What can I say. The room was spacious, immaculate and up to date decor. It was easy to find just of junction 59 on the a1. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was tasty although not the biggest portions. The gym was an added bonus and well maintained. It is only just over 30minutes to the Metro centre. Nice added touch with toiletries and a super spacious shower. Excellent value for money. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Overall the staff were very welcoming, the rooms were really comfortable, it had a large shower. The food in the restaurant as well as the breakfast were delicious. The location of the hotel is just off the a1. The only issue i had was the air contioner in my room, it made an awful rattle every 5- 10 mins so could not leave it on overnight. Would stay here again. Just avoid room 210, the air conditioner makes a hell of a rattle.

A poorly stocked bar and menu unavailability was an initial indicator that all is not well. We waited almost 50 minutes for food to arrive after our order only to receive tepid rather than hot food. We did not complain as we believed it would neither be resolved nor recorded. We stayed here for three nights whilst visiting friends and family in the area. The hotel is typical Holiday Inn. We dined there the first night and the food was adequate but not wonderful. The room was fine, large and comfortable but it was on the side of the hotel close to the motorway and the traffic noise was quite loud, maybe some better double/triple glazing would help. Room was tired with a tiny grim bathroom with only a shower and toilet crammed into it. Sink was in the actual room and probably what accounted for the horrible musty smell. Worse part of the stay was the noise through the walls and floors. We stayed with our 5 yr old son who was unable to sleep because of the thumping footsteps, TV noise and various sounds of the other guests - you heard everything . The room was not in an acceptable state. Decoration, cleanliness, facilities, toilet, all was a bit of a shock considering the price tag and the fact that it's an international hotel chain. Maintenance wise there was a number of things that were broken. I had to point this out (in case you're wondering, they should have known already). Most of it got fixed by the following day.
