Stayed here with a colleague for business. The taxi from Coventry train station cost £14 and the hotel is on a dual carriageway with no amenities within close proximity. Check in went smoothly and my room was large and pleasant. It was well heated but with secondary glazed windows that open for ventilation which was very welcome. I had a quiet room at the rear of the hotel overlooking a field. There are only soap/shampoo wall dispensers rather than complimentary toiletries. The room includi... Read more

Second visit to the Holiday Inn Coventry South. It was the same standard of service if not slightly better this time. Polite greeting on arrival. All staff members I dealt with in both reception, bar, restraunt were very welcoming and friendly. Ate in the bar on both nights. Food great and a reasonable choice for bar food. Had breakfast both days. Again a good selection. Room was spacious, warm and very clean. Bed comfy enough to get a couple of good nights sleep. All in all a very positive expe... Read more

First time I have stayed here, very friendly and helpful lady on the reception. Clean and comfortable room (one of the best nights sleep I have had). Evening meal and breakfast was spot on with great service, only reason for not giving full marks was the room TV (I am fussy about room TV's). The TV had 2 annoying small vertical wavy lines on the screen and had to keep tapping the remote to make it work. Quite surprised how quiet the hotel was though and not many people appeared to be staying, ... Read more

We frequently use Groupon deals as a way to try out a restaurant that we might not otherwise visit - they usually offer good value, so minimum risk! The three course dinner on offer here was indeed good value, and worth every penny. Service could not be faulted, the presentation of the food, and its content, was perfect. The only downside was the silly money they asked for a very modest glass of wine! There's no way I'm going to be tempted back to enjoy a meal here if they just try to rip me of... Read more

We often stay at Holiday Inns as they offer what we want as a family - a family room and a decent breakfast. There is very little wrong with this hotel, it is a standard Holiday Inn - but it wasn't quite as good as others we have stayed in. The pricing seemed a little higher than normal, but it was a Bank Holiday weekend. The gym was described as a mini gym and was tiny - not that you would see me in there. There is no pool - which was disappointing for the kids and the reception seemed a litt... Read more

Enjoyed our stay the rooms were comfortable clean and had everything we needed. The reception staff were very welcoming and already had the room keys available for us being in a big party. Evening meal was a set meal of soup or pate then a choice of Roast Turkey or Gammon with potatoes and veg followed with a choice of cold sweets. Good selection to suit most tastes. The bar was hotel prices but the wine was good and there was a comfortable area to sit in. Breakfast had everything you would expe... Read more

Picked the hotel as we were visiting family locally and the hotel had excellent road links. As others have already mentioned the hotel needs to refurbished but was very clean. Check in was quick and pleasant and the receptionist was extremely helpful. Booked the family room which was gives and had 2 queen size beds and complimentary team and coffee for 4 people. This is a pleasant looking hotel with a good sized restaurant and bar area, clean and well maintained for the most part. Our family room was a good size with 2 king sized beds, the bathroom was a little dated but functional. Frustrating for the ladies in our family, there was no shampoo/conditioner only a multipurpose shower gel. We were also disappointed to find the bathroom bin had not been emptied and smelt bad, there were also hairs in the bath and insufficient towels for the 4 of us. The... Read more

This hotel was never something to write home about, but OK to stay in when Hilton Coventry was full. Not any longer. The Internet doesn't work at all (the staff will no doubt disagree, but a download speed of 0.1 mbs really does fulfil the definition of "doesn't work"), but by far much more problematic was their recent attempt to either deep clean or deratise the hotel. I arrived at midnight and was sent to a room smelling after some chemical so strongly it made my eyes to water. Opening the win... Read more

I was up in Coventry for a night and needed a hotel quickly. Reading the reviews I was expecting an average stay but got a better than that. Room was changed to downstairs which was quieter very efficiently with a minimum of fuss. This gets it a better than average rating. I did not use the bar or restaurant facilities so I can offer no review or guidance on them. Internet speed is slow and really needs addressing as if you market to business then provide the service or reduce your prices. I... Read more

The bed was comfortable. The view was pleasant. The welcome was decent. Room size was good. The breakfast was good, coffee options could be improved. The rooms are very dated and tired. They look like they've had a hard life and the furniture is old, I've stayed in smarter Travelodges and Premier Inns. If you have the adjoining room doors in your room you can hear everything in your neighbours room, not ideal. With an update this hotel could be a brilliant place to stay.

We stayed here because we couldn't get 2 nights near Silverstone, the hotel is very clean the bedroom was large with a large comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom, the wifi is free, it is close to Warwick, Leamington and Stratford three places that we love to visit so we would definitely stay here again, the breakfast was excellent a great way to start the day, the staff where very accommodating and also helpful and polite.

I stayed her for after a wedding it had big rooms and was very clean and modern. I do think they need to improve their staff there was a lot of people who had training staff badges in and u felt theses ice was very slow. The wedding only had 2 people in the at causing delay in ordering and receiving drinks. The breakfast was ok nice and hot and enough variety to keep you satisfied.

Stayed here for two nights. Great location - on the A45. Wonderful, friendly staff. We were able to check in early and staff gave us drink vouchers as we had a bad start to our holidays with the hire car. From check in to breakfast to dinner to check out, the staff could not do enough for us. Great food in the restaurant at very reasonable prices. Very comfy beds and rooms spacious. Would highly recommend this hotel for any length of stay. Thank you !!

Stayed here on a stopover from visiting battle of Bosworth/ Warwick castle. Found the hotel to be very tired and dated. The musky old smell in the corridors and rooms seemed to be masked by cleaning products. We were given room 6 which was on the ground floor on arriving in the room I noticed my welcome letter was addressed to somebody else. I went back to the reception to check that I had been given the right room. I was told I had but they don't really check properly if the letters match up. ... Read more

So firstly the positives: the hotel was very clean and the lady that checked us in was very friendly. However, the beds were not great as they felt like they were sloped into the centre. Spent all night having to keep moving back out to the sides! Also, the wifi is truly awful. It's so slow that sometimes it wouldn't even load a Google search, ended up using my 3G most of the trip. There seems to be a theme in most hotels I've visited this year. Staff are usually great, as they were here, but the properties are often tired and lacking investment. Our rooms were very spacious but were incredibly hot and stuffy with no air conditioning. I had to sleep with the windows open but this led to a restless night with constant heavy traffic noise! Similarly the walls are incredibly thin and the room next to me watched to until 2am and must have turned things on and off at the plug ... Read more

Everything about this hotel is "OK", nothing special and nothing bad. I stayed for 4 days on business so I wasn't footing the bill, if I was, then at an advertised room rate of £195 I would have been looking for far more from this hotel. Food is expensive (£13.95 for a burger and £3 for a coke) The staff were all nice and attentive. Not much else I can say but all "OK".

Surprisingly quiet given the location and good hotel. The food was good in the restaurant. But...the internet service is hopeless. It cannot be beyond the wit of man to ensure it works. There are some nice features such as a personalised welcoming letter from the general manager and a free chocolate bar and very small bottle of water. The hotel is in a great location but this is the only thing going for it. I was upgraded to a suite, but if that's the best - it's frightening. Tired and old would be an understatement! Half of the lights in my room didn't work. The sofa was old and stained. The hotel was freezing. When I put my heater on, which was probably at least 29 years old, the room stank of burnt dust.
