been again at Holiday Inn South in Coventry, just because of the location that was convenient to where I needed to be. The place has not changed since a long time and is a bit worn. The rooms are ok and spacious, but the public area does need a bit of refurbishment. Service friendly, not the quickest, but I was not in a hurry.

For the price paid, I was disappointed with this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly. However, the rooms are dated and in need of upgrading. The breakfast was also disappointing considering the rate we paid.

Room, no28, was absolutely fine. However very concerned that the staff were very inexperienced in dealing with large numbers. We had booked a table in the dining room for a group of us and we're told we could only have the set menu for the dancers however we noticed others did not have to order from it! The three course menu had very little choice and totally inappropriate for youngsters. So disappointing. They also told us they would not be open early for breakfast - our dancers were competing... On arrival asked if I could have a ground floor room, none available as they were for families only and fully booked, even though I was travelling with a disabled person. Hotel has 2 floors BUT no lift. Fortunately the person I was with could manage the stairs with rests between every few stairs but it would have been hopeless for a disabled person confined to a wheelchair.. Next the TV was not working properly. Lovely young man came and couldn't fix it so said he would try and get a replacemen... Read more

The hotel is in a great location but this is the only thing going for it. I was upgraded to a suite, but if that's the best - it's frightening. Tired and old would be an understatement! Half of the lights in my room didn't work. The sofa was old and stained. The hotel was freezing. When I put my heater on, which was probably at least 29 years old, the room stank of burnt dust. I had to ask for a heater and an equally old oil radiator was provided. If it wasn't for that - I would've refused ... Read more

I promptly cancelled my reservation upon arrival. Was greeted by the staff as if I had entered the Munsters. Cold, unsmiling, rude and gave me the impression that they hated their job. Will not recommend nor stay here. I am an IHG rewards member and will look elsewhere.

Stay here frequently due to location for work. Once you get over how tatty it is , it is ok. Usually quiet and get good sleep considering it's proximity to the busy road. Food is typical Holiday Inn boil in the bag fare, but adequate and cheap. Breakfast is pretty awful so I always ask for poached egg. Wifi is often poor and not available in the restaurant area and some of the rooms but is good in the bar area. For an overnight stay it's fine. Expensive but generally popular so they must be doi... Given the high price paid for this hotel, it does not represent good value. There are some nice features such as a personalised welcoming letter from the general manager and a free chocolate bar and very small bottle of water. As for the rest of the hotel it lacks Character, looks outdated and is really cold in the common areas. My bedroom was reasonably large but the heater did not work and they could not get it working when I was at dinner so I had to suffer a cold night under the covers. The ... Read more

Surprisingly quiet given the location and good hotel. The food was good in the restaurant. But...the internet service is hopeless. It cannot be beyond the wit of man to ensure it works. It was well known by the staff that it was hopeless and as such a high priority needs to be put on having a good, reliable capability.

This Holiday Inn is in desperate need of a Makeover. The executive rooms that we spent the night in were very outdated and although clean not up to standard . The shower was poor , no water pressure. If I had been asked to pay the std rate I would have been un-impressed The staff were great , the restaurant was good quality , the breakfast was fine. Sorry this one needs an upgrade before I visit it again
