My husband and I stayed for one night in May. The location is beautiful, we wanted to enjoy a round of golf but the weather wasn't permitting. Next time! The spa facilities were clean however the pool was freezing and didn't feel heated at all, so I gave that a miss but everything else was super. The room service was good and when we dined in the main restaurant we were looked after by Dominique who was a super host. He was attentive and super friendly and made us feel right at home. We stay here every year for a couple of nights when we attend a Charity Golf Event. This is a great Hotel, we always look forward to staying every year, it is in a beautiful spot, perfect for the Golfers but also good for a Spa Day or just a great place to relax. They organise our event so well each year, all the food is good and the breakfast choices exceptional. They cater well for the large numbers and the bars are always well staffed. My Partner loves it here so much that he is going to ... Read more

Although the hotel is of high a quality the evening dinner had a small menu and didn't cater for children. The breakfast was nice however, once again, the selection was small. The rooms were comfortable and the decor was nice, and as we had 2 rooms, I was able to check them both and the carpets smelt awful in both rooms even my children commented on that. The service from the staff was very good, very attentive. May use hotel again as a second choice.

Having been on a few golf weekends at places like this, I'd say Stoke by Nayland is one of the better resort/hotels of its type, but it still has a few flaws. The good: polite staff, rooms that are a decent size with large comfortable beds, marshals out on the golf courses to keep play flowing, the wifi is good, and there's an excellent breakfast. The not so good: the evening meal menu is quite pricey and whilst the food is nicely presented it's not great in terms of either quantity or quality (... Read more

Lovely hotel in the middle of nowhere - so don't expect to stay in contact with your mobiles. Totally relaxing and enjoyable break. Staff helpful and friendly with a few going over and above their duties to make you feel welcome - especially Michael in the bar who was a hit with a few in our group. Bar prices reasonable and matched normal pub prices so was nice not to be ripped off. Food is delicious and although our party was on a set menu for a supplement it was possible to upgrade to a st... I booked a golf and spa package for my husband and myself and 2 friends for my husbands birthday, the boys played golf on the Gainsborough course, which they said was enjoyable , us girls had a full body massage lunch and use of the spa facilities which was all paid for when we booked about 6 weeks earlier I then booked us both a pedicure about 2 weeks before we arrived . We were asked to arrive at 11 am which we did thinking we could check in then but only to find out our rooms wouldn't be read... Read more

Place was lovely and food was nice, however the photo booth that you held was out of service most of the night therefore it ruined the memories that We had of the night. The scenery of the golf course was fantastic, shame about the service and the staff.

First time at location and hugely impressed. Extremely friendly staff, spotless hotel and highly manicured golf courses. Not forgetting superb food (breakfast and evening meal). I would definitely join as a member if I lived nearer. Totally recommend and would certainly visit again.

Twenty of us stayed for two nights dbb and three rounds of golf We all had twin rooms which had plenty of space our room had a double and a single . Couldn't find any fault with the accomodation or the facilities on offer. The service and the food was excellent and I can honestly say all the staff where very helpful and friendly The two golf courses were very enjoyable be to play although the condition of the greens wasn't the best Still came away thinking I would definitely stay there again

Stayed here overnight on a golf break. Played the Constable course (twice) which was a fair challenge. Generally speaking the course was well maintained, tee boxes a little cut up but with the footfall of golfers I expected as much. At first look the greens appeared a little woolly but they played well. Fairway markers could be a little more defined. Enjoyed dinner in the evening with only one disappointment - got forgotten about when it came to desert so I ended going without as the 'momen... Read more

9 lads on our regular golf trip and thought we would return to this venue having been twice before ( although not for 4 years ). In round terms the whole place seems to have slipped from what it was. The rooms were OK , staff were friendly but there were a couple of areas that let it down. Firstly the catering , the package "deal" had a very limited menu and we had to choose in the morning what we wanted to eat in the evening. All that tells me when places run that sort of system is they can't c... Read more

We held our evening wedding reception at Stoke golf club and right from the start we were very happy with the service we received. From booking the venue to helping with wedding suppliers nothing was too much effort from the team at stoke. The wedding team done an absolutely outstanding job with dressing the reception room and it was perfect. The venue has amazing views which meant we got some beautiful photos over the lake and golf course. The food, drink, venue and customer service we had was ... Read more

I attended a course that was being hosted at the SBN hotel so the natural choice was to book into a room for the duration which was four nights. The hotel's location is great for a romantic getaway as the surroundings are peaceful and bliss. Overall the hotel is up to a very high standard with very friendly and helpful staff. The room was very spacious, spotless and cleaned every day. The TV channels as I remember were a bit limited though although this being a very minor issue in my eyes. ... Read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the SbN. The room was huge and I got one of 4 balconies rooms which for me made it even better. The staff were all very friendly and made sure my stay was the best it could be. I didn't use the golf course but it gives the hotel a beautiful surrounding with rabbits, ducks and geese; a massive change from the paved streets of manchester. I'm not a gym goer do can't comment on this facility. The spa... I want to install it in my house. The steam room is small but... Read more

Attended a birthday party for a friend. Venue looked beautiful but on arrival there was a wedding going on & nothing in the reception area to tell us where to go. The room was beautifully laid out and looked promising. The bar staff however were miserable & at times rude/patronising to customers. There was no price list on show, which I thought was a legal requirement & prices were very steep. The party had a band & the wedding had music too. At certain points of the hall the music were competin... Read more

What an amazing place. My husband and I were looking for somewhere peaceful to spend our 9th wedding anniversary, where I could relax in the spa and he could have a round or two of golf. On arrival the staff were very friendly and gave us directions to get go the lodge. After looking around the hotel and forgetting the directions the staff were only too happy to have a Porter drive up so we could follow. We booked to stay in the Russet Lodge for 3 nights and what a place. It was so clean, qui... Read more

Stunning views, shame about the non existant service and stale bread. Upon arrival we were seen to a dirty table, service so poor had to twice get up to find staff to get more tea & strainer which you would think is an essential requirement with loose leaf tea. Upon asking for more tea it was remarked that 'Oh we wanted the boring stuff'' to have to had to ask in the first place and then be condescended to was beyond the pale, the sheer cheek of it. Getting to the food itself the bread in some ... Read more

Myself and my husband had our wedding breakfast and reception at Stoke by nayland and we couldn't have asked for a more wonderful day. The staff were very professional and helpful and we were able to have our day exactly how we wanted it. All of our guests commented on how lovely the venue was and how beautiful it looked. The food was also amazing! We would def recommend it Love Louisa and Henry xx

Stayed here for one night to attend a golf event. Reception service is very good. Rooms are spacious and very well presented, but, there is no way to control the temperature in them - they are so hot. This hotel could really benefit from AC. Breakfast is ok but a little pricey

Just had a really enjoyable few days here. Two night dinner bed and breakfast and three rounds of golf. Customer service was superb. The restaurant food was 5 star and the service great too. Bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Swimming pool and gym were also great. The two golf courses were in good shape for a golf resort. I'll certainly be coming back here again soon!

We've stayed at this hotel a few times now and the rooms have always been excellent but on this occasion we were put in a tiny top floor room with slanted roof/walls. This was a massive inconvenience considering my fiancé is 6ft 6! The room also wasn't as clean as it should have been. Gladly we didn't have to spend much of our stay in the disappointing room. The pool and jacuzzi area are clean. The sauna could have been a little warmer as it was wanna not hot. Breakfast the next morning was lov... Read more

Had a light lunch here today. My husband is the golf enthusiast but none the less a very pleasant setting with the terrace overlooking the course. A warm day so even better with some wonderful views whilst eating. Warm and welcoming staff with a nice choice of light bites and more to chose from. Plenty of people enjoying their day. Clean and tidy in all areas, maybe check out the accommodation another time.
