Lovely visit as always.came for our9th wedding anniversary as we do every year.but spoilt by a chef who would not serve me bacon in the evening with my cheesy chips as he said he needed it for breakfast.also a 25min wait for poached eggs in morning and had to ask twice for them.only two other diners in restaurant at time.

Was invited by friends to celebrate their belated birthday and Christmas, me and my wife attended the Christmas street party night. On arrival was directed by friendly, professional receptionists that's where the good ended. On entering the room was meet by a scruffy dressed barman and on commenting on his dress was bluntly told its the street party?? What for staff as well maybe they had more fun than us!!! Was served a flat, awful tasting pint of becks (which was not cheap) so that was my firs... Read more

My friend and I spent our Christmas break here and had a very relaxing time. The food was excellent, all staff were friendly and very helpful. Our rooms were well appointed and comfortable, particularly the beds! The location offers various popular places to visit if you want to get out and about. Although we didn't make use of all the facilities, they appeared very well used by other guests. A very good three day break.

First impressions were good. Nice reception and a quick check-in. The accommodation wing is in desperate need of refurbishment and is nowhere near the standard of the rest of the place. We had a junior suite which was spacious and clean but just out dated. You needed binoculars to see the TV from the bed. The food and the service in the evening was very good but breakfast was a little disorganised. Had to ask 3 times for tea/coffee, as did almost everyone else, some were getting a little agitate... I've had 2 visits here recently. The 1st was for a spa day that was purchased for me by my partner. In general the service was ok but the massage felt rushed and was not the best. Today we returned for Christmas lunch which was booked online & confirmed by email. However when we arrived there was a lot of confusion at the bar and no sign of our booking. The restaurant was completely empty and we sat in the bar area waiting for 30 minutes without a drink. Although the food was good and the wai... Read more

Stayed one night here on business. Staff were friendly, food was good and room was clean, the bed was very comfortable making for a good nights sleep. However caution is required when showering as using the anti slip shower mat actually makes it lethal as it slid from underneath me, i reported this to the receptionist and was impressed that a manager apologised to me on check out, which gave me the impression that they were taking it seriously and were going to investigate. If in the area i woul... Read more

Stayed overnight for an on site Christmas party. The food in the evening and breakfast the following day was good as was the service. Having requested a ground floor room we were allocated one on the second floor. This was changed by the receptionist, unfortunately to the noisiest room (101) where the noise outside the door was still going on at 3.00 am!

Having a rare day off in the week my cousin and I treated ourselves to the special offer spa day at Stoke by Nayland hotel. First impressions were all good - beautiful grounds, lovely clean hotel and smiling staff. This great impression continued for the rest of the day! We had our own table in the restaurant all day, served by friendly staff. Our £85 each payment included robe, towels and flip flops, a drink on arrival, full use of the spa, a two course dinner and a one hour treatment. I wasn... Read more

20 of us had a table booked for Sunday lunch at 1pm- when we finally ordered our food and went to the carvery they had run out of stuffing and pigs in blankets so the roast turkey was a real disappointment. We had to go to the bar to order drinks because we gave up waiting for the staff! We finally received dessert at 4pm. I took a birthday cake and candles with me and had to repeatedly ask for them to bring it out and then cut it......by the time this was done our party had left!! They were no... Read more
