Our most recent stay in this attractive hotel was just a few days ago, but we used to be frequent visitors there for meals and to stay overnight approximately ten years ago. I'm glad to say that although there have been a few changes (ongoing updating of rooms and facilities) the warm, welcoming character of the hotel, the good food, and the excellent standard of service all remain the same. As other reviewers have remarked, Bosham is a very interesting and delightful village, and the Millstrea... Read more

Excellent location for a well earned rest, pretty hotel with lovely garden to sit and read, or just enjoy a drink or two. With superb staff, scrumptious food and charming room that had a balcony over looking the gardens. Not for those who want a spa or gym. This hotel is for those who appreciate a small independent hotel in delightful surrounds near boats and like to walk and enjoy dining in beautiful surroundings with really good food.

We rang for a lunchtime booking in Marwick's, The Millstream' brasserie restaurant but was advised that the lunch menu is the same for both this and the main restaurant where we opted to book. Although we arrived early we were immediately seated and menus followed in good time although we were in no hurray. The lunch menu offered a great choice of both starters and main course with extra dishes if required. The Braised short rib of beef was not available which was disappointing as that was our... It was a special weekend and I decided we would spent the first night here. Weather was fantastic so we had a walk around Bosham (for old times sake!). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner was excellent. Bedroom had been updated since our last stay and was very good with an excellent shower. We departed after an super breakfast!

27th/28 May we spent our second visit at The Millstream. This is the ideal venue for our half way stop over for visiting relatives in Brighton. On this visit we had room 16 which is spacious, well fitted and had everything we needed, Fresh milk and water in the fridge and a complimentary glass of wine to drink in the garden on arrival is a lovely touch. We ate in the restaurant on the first night. Excellent food and service, although we were too full to take pudding. On our second night, having... Read more

We went to the Millstream to celebrate my Mother-in-Law's birthday. The welcome was warm & polite. A minor error with the drinks order was corrected without question. Our food was delicious but the service was very slow. We waited almost 45 minutes between our starters being cleared & our mains coming out. The deserts were also along time & would have been longer still if we had not asked where they were. It appears that they were sitting round the back ready to come out but had not been br... We spent three nights at the Millstream. Our room wasn't huge but very comfortable and light with a view of the garden. The bed was nice and firm and the TV, kettle, fridge all worked well. There was no hot water on our first morning but that was soon put right. The breakfasts were excellent, cooked to order, and there were plenty of cold options from the buffet. The Millstream looks handsome from the road but once in the car park you realize it has been much extended. We think it might have been better on a smaller, and perhaps more luxurious, scale. Our room was in one of the newer additions and was adequate if uninspiring. The bed, probably the smallest 'double' I have slept in for many a long year, made us quickly ask if another alternative was available. No luck. The staff are friendly and efficient. We had a room facing the lovely small garden and it was beautiful. The location was great for many attractions in and around Chichester, and it was much quieter than being in Chichester and easier to get around (by car). The restaurant was excellent and the staff of both restaurant and hotel were wonderful. Only possible drawback is that there was a small road right beyond the garden, but we heard little traffic and even that stopped at night.

You cannot with out any great deal of thought fault the Millstream Hotel. The approach is in the typical very rural village of Bosham opposite two beautifully thatched cottages. Having been here many years ago we were pleased that it was still the same inside with low ceilings, comfy lounge chairs knooks and crannies still around delightful. The receptionist was very helpful and we got settled in very quickly and returned for an afternoon tea on the house in the lounge. Our room was a standard ... Read more

A lovely appointed hotel with good service but really disappointed with the room. Clean and well serviced but near the kitchen and I was driven to distraction by the buzzing sound coming from outside, maybe an air conditioner of some sort. The room was rather dated and very hot - there was air conditioning so it was either freeze or boil!

Used this as a base to tour the area. All staff welcoming and pleasant. The hotel has a lovely garden and old fashioned quaintness about it. We ate in the brasserie on one night but was disappointed with the food choice and it was not that much different to that of the main restaurant. Although breakfast was cooked to order the staff need to wait until residents have finished the buffet part of the meal before bringing out the cooked items. Several people sent theirs back as they were not ready.

We came down to see a play at The Chichester Festival and decided to stay at the Millstream. As others have commented, it is not cheap at £195 a night including breakfast, but, in our view, it was worth every penny. We enjoyed a 50 person meet and eat lunch in this charming hotel near the Chichester harbour village of Bosham. The car park was full and some cars had to park down the road by the water, taking note of the tide times as the road floods with the tide each day. There was space for pre lunch drinks around the bar and sitting room and a real fire lent Winter ambiance. We collected our name tags with our food selections and placed them on the lines of tables set for our large party. 50 was the maxim... Read more

Stayed in nearby B&B. Visited here on a Sunday evening. Sat by fire for drinks then went into Bistro (less expensive than main Restaurant). Attractive surroundings, attentive (mainly Italian) staff and first class food. Wide choice but we had fish and chips which were unbeatable and imaginative desserts of top quality. Highly recommended

My wife is a very keen bridge player. "Would you like a bridge weekend for your birthday", she asked. As you may be able to imagine, "no thank you" was not an optional answer. As it turned out, it was most enjoyable and informative. It's all about the staff - always. We only found really efficient and pleasant ones at the Millstream, some of which had been there for more than twenty years. Super breakfasts, excellent dinners and a good seletion of reasonably priced bar snacks/afternoon tea it... Read more

Our third stay at The Millstream over the last couple of years ?? this time for 4 nights. The hotel is maintained to a very high standard ?? with first class housekeeping, and very friendly staff throughout. The bar and lounge area adjoin the pleasant dining room ?? which then adjoins Marwicks Brasserie. There are different menus for the Dining Room and Brasserie ?? although it is possible to choose from either, wherever you are sitting. The menu is reasonably extensive ?? with some items... I stay in several hotels throughout the year so feel a little qualified to judge the standards of each. I will not give a detailed report of this excellent hotel; let me summarise by saying that all hotel managers should visit here to appreciate the standard they should aspire to. This is a superbly managed, good value, traditional, comfortable hotel. Its main market is the grey pound, but don't let that deter you.

A group of 6 of us came here for afternoon tea to celebrate my mother in law's birthday. The lounge isn't big and it was busy on a Sunday afternoon. The food was lovely and plentiful. The scones were particularly delicious, warm and very fresh. My only niggle was that we were a bit squashed, possibly because it was busy, but we managed. Overall an enjoyable experience, the staff were friendly and accommodating. Our tea was topped up when requested, and we were given a doggy bag to take away what... Read more

A friendly welcome at Reception - as I was not staying overnight I was asked to order from the menu. We all met up in the bar, having pre-ordered dinner, and were then taken through to the restaurant. The service was very good and friendly and the food was excellent. None of the waiting staff appeared to be local with a wonderful mixture of accents from Greece and Italy. We were very well looked after. I cannot comment on the rooms as I did not stay the night.
