Our most recent stay in this attractive hotel was just a few days ago, but we used to be frequent visitors there for meals and to stay overnight approximately ten years ago. I'm glad to say that although there have been a few changes (ongoing updating of rooms and facilities) the warm, welcoming character of the hotel, the good food, and the excellent standard of service all remain the same. As other reviewers have remarked, Bosham is a very interesting and delightful village, and the Millstrea... Read more

Excellent location for a well earned rest, pretty hotel with lovely garden to sit and read, or just enjoy a drink or two. With superb staff, scrumptious food and charming room that had a balcony over looking the gardens. Not for those who want a spa or gym. This hotel is for those who appreciate a small independent hotel in delightful surrounds near boats and like to walk and enjoy dining in beautiful surroundings with really good food.

We rang for a lunchtime booking in Marwick's, The Millstream' brasserie restaurant but was advised that the lunch menu is the same for both this and the main restaurant where we opted to book. Although we arrived early we were immediately seated and menus followed in good time although we were in no hurray. The lunch menu offered a great choice of both starters and main course with extra dishes if required. The Braised short rib of beef was not available which was disappointing as that was our... It was a special weekend and I decided we would spent the first night here. Weather was fantastic so we had a walk around Bosham (for old times sake!). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner was excellent. Bedroom had been updated since our last stay and was very good with an excellent shower. We departed after an super breakfast!

27th/28 May we spent our second visit at The Millstream. This is the ideal venue for our half way stop over for visiting relatives in Brighton. On this visit we had room 16 which is spacious, well fitted and had everything we needed, Fresh milk and water in the fridge and a complimentary glass of wine to drink in the garden on arrival is a lovely touch. We ate in the restaurant on the first night. Excellent food and service, although we were too full to take pudding. On our second night, having... Read more

We have been to this hotel lots of times for lunch (the food is very good). This time we stayed over giving us time to visit the surrounding countryside, harbour and The Roman Palace at Fishbourne. The staff are very friendly and we had a very comfortable stay.

We went to the Millstream to celebrate my Mother-in-Law's birthday. The welcome was warm & polite. A minor error with the drinks order was corrected without question. Our food was delicious but the service was very slow. We waited almost 45 minutes between our starters being cleared & our mains coming out. The deserts were also along time & would have been longer still if we had not asked where they were. It appears that they were sitting round the back ready to come out but had not been br... We spent three nights at the Millstream. Our room wasn't huge but very comfortable and light with a view of the garden. The bed was nice and firm and the TV, kettle, fridge all worked well. There was no hot water on our first morning but that was soon put right. The breakfasts were excellent, cooked to order, and there were plenty of cold options from the buffet. We had dinner our first night and the food was good and beautifully presented. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. We w... Read more

The Millstream looks handsome from the road but once in the car park you realize it has been much extended. We think it might have been better on a smaller, and perhaps more luxurious, scale. Our room was in one of the newer additions and was adequate if uninspiring. The bed, probably the smallest 'double' I have slept in for many a long year, made us quickly ask if another alternative was available. No luck. The staff are friendly and efficient. We were only on a week end bed and breakfast deal... Read more

We had a room facing the lovely small garden and it was beautiful. The location was great for many attractions in and around Chichester, and it was much quieter than being in Chichester and easier to get around (by car). The restaurant was excellent and the staff of both restaurant and hotel were wonderful. Only possible drawback is that there was a small road right beyond the garden, but we heard little traffic and even that stopped at night.

Meeting friends at The Millstream was a great experience. We booked for Sunday Lunch and were not disappointed. The service was exemplary and the food amazing. The whole experience was one to remember and we will definitely return when we can.

You cannot with out any great deal of thought fault the Millstream Hotel. The approach is in the typical very rural village of Bosham opposite two beautifully thatched cottages. Having been here many years ago we were pleased that it was still the same inside with low ceilings, comfy lounge chairs knooks and crannies still around delightful. The receptionist was very helpful and we got settled in very quickly and returned for an afternoon tea on the house in the lounge. Our room was a standard ... Read more

A lovely appointed hotel with good service but really disappointed with the room. Clean and well serviced but near the kitchen and I was driven to distraction by the buzzing sound coming from outside, maybe an air conditioner of some sort. The room was rather dated and very hot - there was air conditioning so it was either freeze or boil!

Recommended by my uncle Sir Bryan Thwaites! We stayed here three nights! Very nice staff and nice atmosphere . Had breakfast here everyday as we chose the package with breakfast. Enjoyed my full English breakfast everyday! Had dinner the first day and food was good! Rooms are nice some had air conditioners some fans. My room only had a fan which was sufficent and my brothers room had an air conditioner but was very noisy! Nice little garden where one could sit outside to enjoy the sun! Would sta... Read more

Getting our family together doesn't happen very often so we thought The Millstream would be a good option, close for the family and in previous years (3-4 yrs ago) we went there all the time We arrived earlier than the others and had drink in the lounge, while we waited. Once the others arrived there were quickly offered drinks and we were given menus At first glance the lounge is cosy if not a little dated, however the place was full and bustling. The menu had enough choice and sounded lovely,... Read more

We spent three nights at this small welcoming hotel with lovely gardens and free parking, ideally situated for exploring not only the local area but both Chichester and Portsmouth. The hotel affords both a Brasserie and more formal restaurant, the menu is excellent and the cuisine of a very high standard. Always love staying at the "Millstream" but this time we were slightly disappointed. For our evening meal I ordered Fileted Plaice which we found was not fileted when it arrived and prior to that one of our starters was the wrong one and had to be changed. There seemed to be a lot of mistakes being made - perhaps the staff were new. However, the following morning all was well with an exceptionally good breakfast. Hotel set in lovely gardens in an interesting village where the sea comes u... Read more

Third year I have stayed here with my sister and our 97-year-old mother. The service is superb. Staff are lovely and very helpful. And the food is magnificent. Dinners are five star and breakfast is excellent. Not a lively place though - would probably not recommend to anyone under 50!

Used this as a base to tour the area. All staff welcoming and pleasant. The hotel has a lovely garden and old fashioned quaintness about it. We ate in the brasserie on one night but was disappointed with the food choice and it was not that much different to that of the main restaurant. Although breakfast was cooked to order the staff need to wait until residents have finished the buffet part of the meal before bringing out the cooked items. Several people sent theirs back as they were not ready.

We last went 30 years ago when we got married. I asked for a room overlooking the front garden (which cost a little more). We were given a pretty room, small, overlooking the front garden which was above the bar. (During our time there it was quiet below). We arrived around 4.30pm & as the weather was wonderful, we walked down to West Itchenor & then around Bosham before having dinner in the Brasserie. The food was good although a little rich and the service fine (although the bar man could h... Read more

We have lived near Chichester for seven years now and we wish we had tried this restaurant years ago! It cannot be faulted in anyway from the beautiful setting of the garden alongside the millstream to the comfortable spacious dining room and superb food and service. There are two dining areas here, the dining room which we chose and a less formal more modern Brasserie dining area. The food is of the highest quality and excellent value as our three course lunch was just over £25 a head, our mai... Read more

Booked for afternoon tea for two. Earliest they could do was 3.45pm. No problem we arrived just before but to a very busy hotel. Great to see but disappointing it felt a little as though they weren't expecting us. Larger tables were already taken for parties of people and my sister and I were shown to a very small table with a huge lamp on and a "winged" armchair either side. Once seated we couldn't see each other for the lamp. We moved the chairs but when the waiter attended remarked the ... Read more

We came down to see a play at The Chichester Festival and decided to stay at the Millstream. As others have commented, it is not cheap at £195 a night including breakfast, but, in our view, it was worth every penny. We were so lucky with the weather as one doesn't expect sun in the summer so the lovely garden at the front of the hotel with the little stream on its edge was a pleasure for a relaxing lunch. Our room was large and they had remembered our request for sheets and blankets instead of ... Read more

Lovey hotel in lovey setting. Room was very nice with mini fridge, with fresh milk.also iron with ironing board. Very clean and comfortable. Thought food and drinks over priced. My husband and I both ordered ribeye steak well done, mine came running with blood, I returned it, it still came back with blood in it, returned it AGAIN, it came back well done but cut in pieces. Not good at £18. The staff were fantastic. very polite and helpful. shame about the chef

The reception staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant personnel were very good and efficient. The room staff maintained the the rooms to a very high standard and yet were never seen. The garden was immaculate again the gardener was very good. Bosham is a very quiet, well kept village and a short walk brings one to an inlet full of boats and wildlife. A short drive takes you to a whole variety of interesting places.

Spent three nights here upto and after my wedding. The cottages were beautiful. Sadly some of the rooms had dead flies on the windowsills (for 3 days) and a dead moth in the bath for 24 hours, eventually removed by another guest/friend of mine in their room. Guilia (incorrect spelling, sorry) the Head Receptionsit was amazing and was incredibly helpful 2 years prior to our wedding and up to the date itself. This hotel is situated in a nice position by the stream, just far enough away from the tourist bustle but close enough to stroll down to the waterfront. Its appearance belies its history as from some angles it looks very 1970??s with various accommodation wings adjacent to the large free car park, but the front entrance is more attractive with outside seating to take sundowners. We had a garden room, which was not very spacious (though adequate) but it was provided with facilities like a tea/... Read more
