After a dissapointing mix up with my reservation we went to our rooms. Only one of the two rooms had robes and slippers, however when we contacted reception this was very quickly corrected. Lovely clean twin rooms. Had a back, neck and shoulder massage, used the other spa facilities, then a mud treatment, great fun and my skin felt amazing afterwards. Left for home feeling refreshed and chilled out. Would definately return.

I had to go back down to recp to ask again for the second pillow i had ordered also they was no water in our room, she had it sorted in 10 mins. the breakfast is lovely a great selection. staff are very nice, attentive. unfortunatly I had the most uncomfortable beds i have ever slept on.

Having stayed here before on business I thought my wife and I would benefit from a relaxing break here as they have a lovely spa, well equipped gym and a fine restaurant. The hotel experience was actually better than I'd remembered and we had a lovely stay, helped by the excellent and friendly staff, especially those on the reception desk who are always happy to help. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Chester area.

This hotel is set in lovely grounds and the buildings are impressive. The lobby is quite grand and the staff helpful. There's a nice pool and spa in the basement and a reasonable bar and restaurant. Nice outdoor seating in a pretty patio area. However, the price tag is quite high and much of the accommodation feels dated and in some cases a bit knocked about - for example, chipped veneer on the small tables in the bar, stained grouting in the ensuite bathroom. Visited here this weekend and was very disappointed. The bathroom is in dire need of renovation (black mould around shower enclosure, growths on rain shower head, door stop that falls off) but the worst part was the shower floor...it is so slippy that it is dangerous. If you do go in the shower be careful because the shower knob is very temperamental - if you turn it just a tiny bit too far when trying to turn it off the overhead rain shower comes on drenching you (if you were trying to keep you... I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was large with a terrific Shower. The parking across the street was always fairly empty and easy to get to. I want to send a special thank you to Lily at the front desk who greeted a frazzled and i must admit not very pleasant traveler (for reasons which had nothing to do with the hotel) with kindness and and all I expect from the staff at a Hilton brand hotel. We booked to stay at the Hilton after a wedding and were hoping to enjoy a relaxing spa the next day. The hotel itself was great.. very clean and comfortable with helpful, friendly staff. We were however a little disappointed with the spa area. Although it looks lovely on the website it is quite small for the number of guests that may potentially use it. Also, there was an aqua aerobics class with loud music in the actual pool so other guests wanting to use the spa had to sit in a small jacuzzi ... Read more

We booked a suite for our B&B stay, it was well worth the extra money. The room was spacious, clean and felt luxurious. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was effective. The only negative was that the room had not been properly serviced so we had to ask for tea, coffee, water and a shower cap - this should have been checked beforehand. The bed was comfortable and we had a good night sleep. The reception staff were very pleasant and the warm cookie when you check-in is always welcome... Read more

Booked the afternoon tea for my birthday. Things have sadly gone downhill because 2 years ago it was lovely. You would normally expect proper cakes, pastries, and neat looking sandwiches for afternoon tea. Unfortunately we were shocked to be served with toffee cheesecake, cheesecake, bake well slice, and a brownie. All of which tasted & looked similar to Tesco's finest. None of the "cakes" appeared to be baked on site and the sandwich fingers were cut too thickly and falling apart. Horrible sele... Read more

My husband and I recently stayed at the Chester Double tree for 3 nights and had a very relaxing time, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Great position for going into Chester we had a taxi into city at the cost of £5. cheaper than parking. Also easy to get to the station to catch train into Liverpool which run every 15mins. had a day return @£5.20 each which included use of the buses and ferry ride on the Mersey. Finished the day off with a lovely meal in the Marco Piere restaurant.

Although I have not yet been to this lovely looking Spa, I have certainly not been impressed with a few things during booking this. Firstly, the website would not let me book online, the page to 'log in' after I made an account actually always sent me to the registration page, basically taking me around in circles on their website. After trying to book online for 2 days, I decided to ring and book. After probably 40 minutes ringing with no answer I finally got through to someone. (Who was love... Read more

No answer- they do not care! Brushed under carpet completely! There was a 4 year old on our table which is the scary part. What i believe to be the manager/head waiter came to see me; didnt offer me anything for my cut finger and wasnt seen again really.

Lovely place with nice comfy rooms and very friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was great and it's nice to have spa facilities. Only complaint I have is that the pool/spa area and changing rooms are not adult only, so if you want a quiet, child-free getaway this may not be the place. That being said, I understand that not everyone wants things to be child-free, so it's not a major issue.

We booked 1 night with our friends, and we were very surprised. The hotel is really nice, and convenient, the hotel staff is amazing. Jenny at check in was absolutely fabulous, she presented the perfect check in to us. She said she just started recently, so a big well done for her, because she made our stay amazing with her welcome. We had a dinner in the restaurant, the food was excellent. Thank you to all the staff for this amazing stay, we will definitely return.

Spend two nights in this hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff, in particular Jenni... she took all the time to explain me how to get to the centre of Chester by foot (because I wanted to walk) and gave me an umbrella as well. Room was good, nice and tidy. Breakfast is okay.

I visited for two nights in November 2016 for a weekend away. I've visited around five times previously, and this was one of my favourite hotels. One of the challenges for this hotel is that it's a weekend wedding venue. This means a) the car park will be full, even at odd times (we checked in at 3pm on a Friday and there was a single space left in the main car park) and b) you'll have to content with the noise from the wedding and wedding party. On our final night (a Saturday) the wedding part... Read more

Massive thank you to Steph, Dave and all the staff. We had an amazing wedding, 5* service and nothing was too much trouble. We would highly reccomend the Abbey suite for a wedding weren't sure how smooth it would be with all the turnarounds but everything was on time or early all day- a first for any wedding I have ever been to!

I booked this hotel for an overnight stop as we were attending a family party in Chester and the hotel was ideally situated. It looks very swish and imposing from the outside and the lobby was also very nice. Good check in by lovely helpful staff and on to our room where we'd booked a suite to accommodate us and our teenaged son. After a long journey we wanted a coffee and the first disappointment was only 2 mugs.. went to reception who said they'd send someone with a third cup and to check ther... Read more

The hotel experience was let down by the very poor lack of guest parking. Not enough spaces for the guests and some parking not adequate due to location. Staff unhelpful on this matter, and did not give any help or suggestion at what we could do. On first night of stay, I had to wait some 40 minutes until someone moved their car until I was able to park and then check in. Receptionist was not interested when I told the this in checkin.

The Georgian style hotel is conveniently located about half a mile off the A55 but is pleasantly secluded with gardens and a pond in front of the hotel. The reception is to the side of the hotel and is modern and welcoming. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was a double but formed by placing two singles together so you get that annoying gap in the middle. Otherwise the room was very comfortable and with all the accessories you would expect...apart from an empty minibar. You... Read more

Birthday getaway for busy parents of 2 year old and 6 month old. Felt relaxed and looked after from beginning to end, especially enjoyed the spa experience and the pool/jacuzzi facilities. All staff were also fantastic.

We received the usual warm welcome and thanks for our loyalty as Gold members and a welcomed upgrade to a great family room. Well designed room. It was a real shame MPW restaurant was closed as that was why we booked. We really enjoyed a few hours in the spa facilities which are very good. Evening meal in the restaurant was just 'ok' I guess we were disappointed as this wasn't our plans. We slept very well indeed and breakfast was nice not quite the usual Hilton brand choice but nice all the sa... Read more

Stayed here overnight in a 'King Bed' room. It certainly was a huge bed with a proper double mattress, although the room and window were a bit on the small side and devoid of any decoration (i.e. pictures, artwork). It made the room seem more functional than relaxing. The pillows also were also very big, and in fact too fat for me. However, the facilities were good - desk with mirror and fridge, large illuminated wardrobe with free safe, 40 inch flat TV including Sky Sports, free wifi. There ... Read more

Just stayed with my girlfriend and found the place excellent. They provided a cake in the room for my girlfriends birthday free of charge. They also provide a warm cookie on arrival which is a nice touch. The hotel was very busy as a wedding a xmas party were on but we did not find it loud at all. Only slight frustration was the time waiting to get served at the bar as they only had one bar person on. The staff however where very apologetic. I cannot fault this place at all and would highly re... Read more

We visited double tree for our granddaughters wedding. We found the staff from the time we arrived until we left, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. From helping us with luggage on our arrival until we left and everything in between.

Hotel is in a great location straight off of the M53 and great distance from Chester centre and Cheshire Oaks. Noisy hotel room and couldn't use most tv functions. MPW restaurant shut wasn't told before arrival. Pillows were unbelievably too soft. Room was super dark meaning I removed all lamp shades to help my mrs do her make up and room lacked a view. Bar area and staff were great.

Just returned home from a few days away and reflecting on our trip to Doubletree Chester. We have stayed several times before. Yes the restaurant area is, I guess better, but we had a long journey when we arrived and really needed a snack, perhaps a sandwich.....that proved to be impossible, what has happened to the menu, no sandwiches or wraps at all. We ordered cheese and onion with crusty bread for £6.50, well we sent this straight back and went out to eat. The smallest bread roll, a tin... Read more

Wanted a place to relax for a few days enroute from Bristol to Edinburgh. It really met our needs. Wonderful therapy pools and an excellent restaurant. Room was pretty good but we had a whole big bunch of negative experiences caused by minor housekeeping foul-ups that were really annoying on a vacation trip. Danielle at the front desk understood the situation and made sure everything was fixed to be much more than just okay. Our thanks to her and to the front desk clerk who ran out after u... Read more

A return trip to a lovely hotel & spa. Nice location and great for couples. Rooms spacious & well equipped. Very comfortable. Only grumble was the breakfast staff who were a little slow on the breakfast request & on stocking up empty containers at breakfast. Very good value for money. The spa is lovely. We didn't have a treatment this time but would definitely recommend booking one.
