Very handy for all the shops and city attractions. Had a delux room and for the price I was very disappointed, I guess your paying for the location. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel and the food is lovely and fresh. Staff a tad cold.

Booked the hotel last minute to attend a concert at the Live Rooms in Chester. The hotel was a good walk from the venue and d on the ring road we thought it might be noisy. The hotel was very quiet, room was large and roomy and the bed was huge. The hotel has a spa but only stayed one night so did not have time to use the facilities, I think we will be back. All the things you could wish for in our room toiletries, tea and coffee. And bottled water both still and sparkling. I did not find t... Read more

Good hotel for a few nights stay as the rates are competitive and rooms well proportioned with very comfy beds (excellent pillows!). Staff are always welcoming and ready to help. The City's on your doorstep with good shopping and eating options but to be honest the food in the hotel is pretty tasty and the bar serves everything you need. The gym and pool is good and clean but not to a luxury standard. The free residents wi-fi is good enough for 99% of most peoples needs so do not pay for the upg... Read more

We stayed at the hotel for my brothers stag do in May 2016, the rooms are great with all the facilities required in the room, the twin rooms do have small beds, but the double rooms are spacious and comfortable, the bathroom was clean and well stocked. The on site leisure facilities were of good quality and clean. I would recommend staying here in the future

Hotel is quite well placed in the centre, not particularly architecturally pleasing, small car park here and expensive one next door. Slightly odd layout inside, but generally good staff, and communal areas. Rooms fairly basic, nicely functional, bath/shower would be better as just a shower cubicle. Good choice at breakfast, though evening dining reasonable quality, but lacking in quantity...someone is trying to squeeze the return too far here. Nothing to complain greatly about, however noth... Okay, so being a spire member gets you a room upgrade and lounge access, so it may not be the same for all the rooms, but the room was large, clean and quiet (it may not be apparent but there is a power socket on the desk that you need to lift up which was my only challenge) there is a members lounge on the 3rd floor which is also handy for a quick meeting with drinks/snacks. There is a pool (not a large one) and good gym, but there is also plenty of scope for a run by the river. The staff wer... Read more

We went over the half term holidays and the staff couldnt do enough to make our stay absolutely pleasurable. 2 adults and 2 kids - they really went above their remit to find us a room that could accommodate 2 pullout chairs. Receptionists were great at check-in and check-out. Staff at the restaurant was fantastic in terms of dealing with kids and stressed out parents. Even the housekeeper who came to set the sofa beds spent some time selling the City of Chester to us and how employee-friendly th... Read more

We stay here a few times during the year for two or three nights. Good location in the centre of Chester, close to shopping, restaurants and the racecourse. We normally stay in the executive king room and have use of the complementary drinks and snacks available. The rooms are a good size, sometimes they can be very warm even with the heating off. Breakfast is always a great selection, the usual busy times are 9 til 10 am

Just returned from a weekend away with my boyfriend at the Crowne Plaza and it was brilliant. The outside of the hotel doesn't give off the best first impression with it being situated in a car park but once inside it is fantastic and really glam, so don't let this put you off. Hotel was spotlessly clean and the room was huge. Complimentary drinks and toiletries are provided in the room and was very quiet at night so slept well. Reception staff were really friendly and helpful and breakfast was ... Read more

I stayed here recently for three nights during a business trip and overall was underwhelmed by my experience. My biggest disappointment was that the room AC was not working and after not being able to fall asleep until 3:00 am the first night, I reported the broken AC issue and they said they would have someone look at it and it was not fixed for the second night or my third and final night. I had a colleague who had the same issue in his room. We had a warm and humid stretch which was a bit ... Read more

We stayed here as part of a group reunion. Ideal location as the ladies could head off to the shops (!!) whilst the men could walk the 'Walls' or along the river. Hotel rooms rather old fashioned but having said that they were large and clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom a good size too. I suspect the new Crowne Plaza which is in the pipeline will not have such large rooms. The dinners were good and well presented (there were 20 of us in the group) and the breakfasts great with plen... Read more

We stayed here as a family and visited Chester zoo whilst we were here. We stayed in an executive family suit and everything we needed was available. The staff were lovely especially Rachel in the resturant and Tom on reception were brilliant especially with our young children. Would defiantly stay again as a family or a couple.

Rooms were underwhelming and quite dated, no hairdryer or separate shower and the carpet in the room had seen better days. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Location was great...very close for shops, River Dee and Cathedral etc. Paid £150 room only which seemed a bit steep as there was no breakfast included but then again I would think it's comparable with other hotels in the vicinity. Had an evening meal at the hotel restaurant which was good and drinks were very good too although the din... Read more

From the outside the hotel is not good looking although once inside its great. The rooms are well decorated and very pleasant to stay. The staff are extremely friendly and the location is minutes from the centre. The only concern is the car park is small but there are plenty nearby so no real problem.

We stayed here because of it's proximity to the city centre. It is only 3 minutes walk of the city centre and close to everything like restaurants, shops etc. The hotel was very pleasant as were the staff. The standard room was a reasonable size with everything we needed. I personally prefer a walk in shower but that is a personal preference. The breakfast was buffet style but you could order from the kitchen. There was a very good selection of food and hot too. There is good parking on an upper... Read more

Extremely friendly staff and very helpful. Rooms were quite spacious and clean, bed was a bit uncomfortable but that's just personal preference. Very close to the city centre. Lovely and modern inside. The breakfast is a continental buffet style breakfast, food was hot and constantly topped up. Really nice hotel.

Nice staff in an hotel with a good location very close to the city center. The room was quiet but rather small, even though it was one of the few suites in the hotel. It had a small sitting room, with a high window ...almost like an attic. The bedroom had plenty of closet space to hang clothes.

My wife and I drove ( recommend not driving, take the train) here for a 3 night stay from London checking-out some ancestor sites and arriving on Monday June 27 and checking out on Thursday June 30. What a great hotel. The hotel is centrally located and it is very up to date. The staff is world class, especially the front desk team and Tom and David in particular but also the room cleaning crew, among the best of any hotel any where in the world, incredibly professional but also down to earth a... First time staying at Chester Plaza but it won't be the last. Easy access to shopping, racing, site seeing and touring the surrounding area. Booked a club room which is well worth the extra money. We chose the Crown Plaza for a two night break to explore Chester. The hotel location was perfect, being located within the old city walls and easy walking distance to the city centre. First of all this hotel really is in the heart of the city, probably only a 100 meters from the main Street, so easy walking distance to shops, pubs and restaurants. The entrance to the hotel is a little hidden away, and does not look that inviting, but that all changes as soon as you walk through the door. The hotel entrance is very modern and bright and you start to relax as soon as you walk in. Our room was on the 4th floor, it was really spacious and comfortable with fantastic views over C... The hotel is well located just a few minutes from the city centre and the race course. The entrance is a bit odd, and feels like you are walking into a bus station, rather than a hotel! I had a double room, which whilst it had everything you would expect, it certainly did not wow me. The hotel has a tired feel about it, like it is overdue a refit. The room was distinctly beige if you know what I mean! My biggest issue however was the sleep I got. the room was boiling hot, and the only duvet wa... Read more

To explore Chester you need to be close to the centre and within easy walking distance of the main sites. This is what the Crowne Plaza is. Our check-in ( we had asked for an early check-in) was seemless. Our room was ready and had everything we needed - including a super view of the Welsh mountains. Parking on site is available, though a bit limited, and is a bonus for a city centre hotel. Breakfast was good - plenty of choice to suit all. Check-out was simple and efficient.

If you staying at a Crowne Plaza you think you are going to get a good standard of hotel.... Sorry this hotel doesn't meet the standard....rooms only so so. I've used Holiday Inn hotels all over the world and this hotel was so so disappointing . The only plus point is location

Very tired carpeting and rooms. Not enough milk and sugar for 2 guests Ate in the stables bar and grill...dreadful food. Although then discounted of half price it should not of been charged for at all. Not informed on arrival we needed to buy a voucher for breakfast...quite shocked it was an extra charge anyway. If it wasn't for the company it would of ruined our wedding annivesary. Premier Inn is better class! Never again

This hotel looks like an inner-city high school from the 1980s. The management realized this, and did their best to change perceptions with the interior, which is clean, modern, trendy even. The Crowne Plaza is located right next to the historic rows and shops in city center. Just one block east or south gets you to the Cathedral, Tudor rows, Roman City wall, or cool pubs, cafes, and places to eat. Additionally, this hotel has the best gym I've ever seen in a hotel. It's still a hotel gym, d... Read more

The hotel's location is excellent, right in the centre of Chester. Five minutes walk from the centre. However, its precise location is slightly odd. The main entrance is beneath the hotel and next to a multi-storey car park, so it's an unprepossessing first impression. You go a floor up to Reception, then another floor up to the restaurants, etc, then further floors up are the rooms. However, once inside, it's well-maintained and comfortable. The best thing about this hotel is its location. You can walk into the city centre in a couple of minutes. The staff were very friendly and apologised when our room was not ready upon arrival. The room was clean. It's just not a very exciting hotel - you could be anywhere really. The breakfast was fine if you eat a cooked breakfast, but I am not keen on frozen or tinned fruit and packaged croissants. The problem I have with this hotel is that it was expensive and instantly forgettable!
