Fantastic little hotel, food is really good, very child friendly. Staff are fantastic. Will be visiting again, little on the expensive side but its well worth it. The bin in the room had not been emptied from the previous guests.

I stayed at the Brookside for the one night for a relaxing night away. I was greeted by a very pleasant gentleman who gave me all the necessary information I needed. It was a 10 minute walk into Chester which was pleasant. The room was clean and tidy everything I needed was in the room. Window was open very pleasant on a warm day and evening. I stayed fro bed and breakfast and the breakfast was cereals and yogurts. and if you wanted you could order English or continental. I chose the English it ... Read more

Please remember this is a 3 star hotel and not the Ritz! This was chosen for a weekend veteran's army reunion and it is splendid value. We had 24 in our group and the overall opinion was very positive. The décor is a little tired and the bedrooms are not very big but the staff are excellent and the food very good. Breakfast is very satisfying and portions ample. Car parking is free and you are just a 10 minute walk into the city which is brilliant. A Friday and Saturday night stay for 2 with ev... Read more

We stayed in room 12 for a night It was our 20th anniversary , we didn't go for the races. The hotel is really lovely , lots of Character and very clean , the staff are so helpful and offer you their assistance , happy smiling faces and work so hard . Our room was really beautifully decorated the en suite was huge and clean , the only reason I've given it a 4star is because the shower was not very powerful at all and the bed was hard but to be fair most people prefer a harder mattress . Lovely "oldy" woldy hotel. Great looking!! walking distasnce to Chester center, about 10-15 mins. Buses right outside which take 3 mins into the central bus station. Nice breakfast, bit salty omlette. Room good, at the back of the house because it's noisy at the front. Very clean, spacious room, room 20. bathroom big also. Free large car park, free wi-fi. Very friendly staff.

Stayed with friends to explore Chester and enjoyed our visit. Great location - easy to walk into the main shopping of Chester - and so quaint. The staff were friendly and very helpful if we had any questions. Breakfast in the morning was lovely and the rooms were charming. Beds were comfy, good amenities & wifi, and the hotel's cat was very sweet. Would definitely stay again next time I'm in Chester!

I spent 3 nights at the Brookside Hotel in a four poster room. It was quite lovely & the bed was incredibly comfortable! Just a quick, easy paced, walk to the town centre. Also, close access to the bus if you don't want to walk. The staff were quite charming & very friendly. Brookie, the cat, was adorable too. I only had breakfast, which was very good, so I am unable to comment on the dinner menu. I would definitely stay there again when I return to Cheshire.

My wife and I had a double room, which was fine, but our friend's single, number 18, was too small and depressing. Fortunately he was able to move to a double for another £30. Very nice cooked breakfast, staff helpful, but I'll probably try somewhere else next time I stay in Chester.

My husband and I found this little gem of a hotel online and booked for two nights. We were greeted warmly at reception by a lovely young lady named Molly. The room was so lovely and very well decorated, I would say lush is a good word to describe it. Breakfast was pleasant and I liked the fact that the staff all had a hand in looking after us guests, it really was lovely. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

This small hotel offers good value for money. Possibly not for people expecting luxury. The public rooms though a little dated are very nice. The food was very good.I went with 4 friends and ate in the 1st night and the evening menu was good. There was an excellent choice for the breakfasts we had there... And plenty of it. We stayed for one night in Brookside Hotel. Our room faced the road and was very noisy. We couldn't close windows, because there was no air conditioner. So finally we didn't sleep well. Kitchen was closed due to chef absence, so we walked 15 min to the city centre to have dinner.

I stayed here for 2 nights over the August bank holiday with my partner and mum in 2 rooms. Our room was lovely; a four poster double bed room (16) and I liked the decor which suited the hotel and old Chester town. Firstly, I didn't stay here but I met my sister for breakfast. I was in this hotel for about 2 hours and I have to say the staff are lovely; the manager really keeps it running smoothly, and the breakfast omelette was the best I've ever eaten. How can a simple omelette be that good?? I was impressed and would certainly consider this hotel if I was staying in Chester. A bit outside the town centre but I'm told it's easy walking distance

Stayed here October 15th weekend - chosen off the Internet - so no prior knowledge - because of reasonable price and good location, close to town. It was a nice surprise. A warm welcome, helpful and attentive staff, food was excellent (both breakfast and evening meal) and bedrooms were cosy and comfortable. Perhaps it looked a bit care-worn, but this was made up for by the atmosphere of the hotel. Would return.

Expected much from the reviews but in reality the Brookside is a Blackpool boarding house transposed to a Chester suburb! The superior double a gloomy room at the end of a maze overlooking the car park. The damaged shower valve just waiting to scald the unwary. Breakfast very average. Avoid.

Just a one-nighter at the Brookside and it ticked all the boxes. Our room was generously sized and well equipped and breakfast offered a good choice. It's unusual to get free parking so close to the centre so that was a real bonus. They seemed pretty full, with a mixture of contractors (judging by the white vans parked outside that left early next morning) and parents of all nationalities visiting for their children's graduation ceremonies at the university.
