I stayed at the hotel for a few evenings, and all was well. Beautiful rooms, food was splendid, and had lovely views. Sadly my visit was ruined by the managers attitude. The previous night I had trouble with the black cabs in the area. I was reccomended trying Uber. I was patiently waiting for my Uber to arrive, when I received a phone call from the driver. The manager of the hotel has banned Uber cars access to the road, and only allowing black cabs to the area. I then had to run up the road ... Read more

Stayed for one night on a visit for a conference and this Park Plaza is one of the better ones. My feeling is that rooms have been refurbished recently and mine was lofty, spacious and very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast offerings were varied and good quality. Excellent WiFi that is free and fast. Location is within easy walking distance of all amenities and the station.

We received very good and attentive friendly service, the breakfast was very good, the room was clean and well-designed, and we left our passports in the safe, realizing this after we took the train to Bath. The staff was wonderful about locating our lost passports in the safe, and getting them to the courier company for successful forwarding to us.

Reception staff friendly and helpful. Internet works well around the hotel and is fast. Guest rooms spacious, beds comfortable, showers powerful although they still have shower curtains that like to stick to you when your in it... Why do hotels insist on these horrible things! Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The gym was well equipped and provided towels and water. NOTE: parking is in the NCP opposite and you get 20% discount. A bit bland if I am honest - staff lacked any zip or charisma - just going through the motions. Weatherspoons immediately over the road resulted in not getting to sleep until the early hours - roudy, noisy and insufficient sound proofing. Breakfast was good and chef went out of her way to ensure fresh eggs.

Great location, friendly staff. Rooms are very nice with comfy beds. A really nice hotel, 3rd visit for us and certainly not the last. The menu in the bar had a good selection, as did the breakfast menu. A fabulous weekend of stereophonics and good accomodation.

This hotel was booked by a friend on our behalf and to be honest I had no idea of the cost per night which I appreciate is not the fault of the hotel. To say I was little aghast was an understatement however when I was offered breakfast for the two mornings at £10.per person per day considering the overall costs for the stay. On the Friday night for the room only was £119.00 which was probably fair enough but then we were landed with a bill for £249.00 bill for the Saturday night (same room)... Read more

Be aware when you check in that they might charge you more than the amount you booked online. Although they will pay it back if you notice, it takes a few days after cheching out. If you do not have British credit cards, you have to pay for the whole nights at the time of check in.

I always find Park Plaza a real treat when working away from home. I've got to mention Glenda in the kitchen at breakfast, always welcoming, never minds making poached eggs or amazing omlettes even if busy. The first thing we noticed was a lovely smell through out the hotel. The hotel was warm and friendly with very attentive staff. The bedroom was at the front of the hotel and was light, bright and airy. The Plaza is right opposite Witherspoons, that seemed like a bonus until 3.15 a.m.!! One of those places that likes to appear sophisticated by not having much natural light. If you're on the side with the two pubs (the Greyfriars Rd side) it may get a bit noisy later on, though it is useful having two places to eat just 20 yards away. Only problem - very poor TV reception - a bit of an issue since I wanted to watch the news about BREXIT, since I was in the UK near the time of the BREXIT vote. Hotel is fairly expensive, but worth the price.

Went for one night with my son to Cardiff to watch cricket, hotel easy to find in the middle of the city, the NCP car park directly across the road is pricey even with the hotel discount (£16 for 24 hours). The hotel is great, check-in was a breeze, I would say the desk is quite small and I could imagine queues at busy times, but for us it was simplicity itself. We had booked a superior room on the town hall side of the building, I had rung in advance very early one morning and spoken to a v... Read more

Booked 1 night for daughter's 18th birthday surprise. Very happy and delighted girls, lovely room and hotel. Ideally placed for the clubs and pubs they went to and city centre. Everything clean and comfortable and above all very safe. Thank you.

As we entered the Park Plaza Cardiff, we were suddenly transported to a garden by the beautiful scent they'd used and the cozy, restful ambience of the lobby. Exiting the elevator to our room on the 3rd floor, the scent changed, also lovely, a bit more citrusy. Room 315 was an inside room but you never felt it because it was cleverly designed to overlook a secret garden(pictures attached). Same in the little lobby as one exits the elevator on the 3rd floor so each space had air and sunlight. O... Read more

Excellent location for a weekend of shopping and eating in Cardiff. The staff were helpful, the room was large and comfortable. I stayed on the 4th floor and was slightly bothered by the noise from the pubs and clubs in the street below but ear plugs helped! Despite a bit of nighttime noise, I would stay again.

Just checked out of this hotel and have had such a lovely time. The room was very clean and looked spectacular! Unfortunately we only stayed the one night and never got to take advantage of all the facilities but we found the staff were helpful, and checking in and out took all of 2 minutes! Would definitely return!

What a great place to stay! The birthday celebration resulted in us being upgraded to a beautiful room overlooking the Park and looking through the trees, to the wonderful architecture of the Cardiff Museum. I went to the trouble of checking out the Hilton Hotel closeby, but in my opinion the executive room I previewed was tired and in need of a refurb. A member of the hospitality staff named 'India' was so helpful, she clinched the deal. (another member of the family stayed because of our ... Read more

Good facilities, excellent room, nice and helpful staff! The location is brilliant if you want to visit the city in just a few days! No time to lose! Did not had the chance to experiment the restaurant or room service. Breakfast was average, nothing extraordinary considering the price paid. The breakfast lounge was very agreeable tough.

I booked this hotel for a weekend away for my partner and myself and it was fabulous. To be honest when I walked outside I thought "This looks awful" the outside of the hotel could have a bit of a revamp but once we were inside it was really nice. Check in was really easy. Our room was fantastic the bed was so comfy! They have a lovely smoking terrace outside the bar. Breakfast was lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. However the only downside is just opposite the hotel is quite a few bars... Read more

Stayed here a few times and although never a problem before found a different feel this time around! Arrived fairly late and disappointed that food was not served in the bar or restaurant from 9pm! The gentleman dealing with this side in the bar area didn't want to gain eye contact and just grunted "yeah we done now" in relation to me asking if there was food still being served! So we then had to order room service and sit in our room, when would have rather enjoyed the atmosphere in the bar etc... Read more

Rooms were very comfortable, staff friendly, I would stay again, but not with family!! After midnight it's gets really noisy outside (we were on the first floor so could hear everyone leaving clubs in the early hours), which was annoying!! Parking was also very pricey! There is free street parking (evening and weekends) about 10 mins walk away, which the staff didn't tell us about, we stumbled across it! If you have time, drive around! Glad we paid extra to have breakfast, as it was very nice!

It seems that all of the big hotels are in the center, near the party action. Several people have complained about the noise (and the sights!) since there are night clubs right across the street from the Park Plaza. I always ask for a "quiet room" and I always have a silent night's sleep. The quiet rooms, however, have no view, but face onto a shaft of some form or other. If the view doesn't matter, but location and service does, then this hotel will be for you. The reception is kind and hel... Read more

I went to a spa day with a group of friends to the Laguna Health & Spa (which is located next door to Park Plaza), and afterwards, we had Afternoon Tea at the Park Plaza. Myself and one friend had the Champagne Afternoon Tea, whilst the rest of the group had the normal Afternoon Tea. There was a lot of variety and very filling. The staff are very accommodating if you have particular dietary preferences, and they will substitute one of the fillings in the sandwiches for another filling. I would ... Read more

As hotel chains go, I quite like Park Plaza, and whilst this hotel looks ropey and run down from outside, the interior is fine. The staff were truly excellent - friendly and accommodating, they sorted me a late check out and were helpful throughout. We had supper in the restaurant and the food was high quality, and whilst the service was very friendly, it was painfully slow. We waited over an hour for our food to arrive! The pool is lovely and family friendly and the hotel is located right in th... Read more

Arrived at Park Plaza for a quick family vacation. We have never stayed there before so we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in to a beautiful foyer with great service and attentive staff. They made sure we had the best taxi service and helped us with everything from directions to pointing out the best places to go.

Unfortunately, this hotel turns paying guests away evening when rooms are available as their greed at knowing the city is busy right now means they can pick and choose only those wishing to stay multiple nights. Actually, that's not completely true, they will let you stay one night but they'll almost double the price. Will never attempt to stay with them again.

The location of the hotel is very good as it's very close to Cardiff Castle and the different shopping arcades . The hotel staff was very polite and nice , the interior is good. The room was nice and spacious - the view was not impressive as it looked onto the car park in front of the hotel. Also, in the bathroom the sink had a crack on it - it didn't cause any spillage but was not nice to see. Also, the bath tap leaked. The hotel had a nice restaurant downstairs with nice food - overall it was... Read more
