If your looking for a good city centre location, then the Clayton hotel offers this, with easy access into the centre of Cardiff, and the main line station within a few minutes walk. I had a room on the six floor, which was clean and tidy and offered me every thing i wanted while i was there on business. Breakfast was included with my room, but i have to say i was a little disappointed with what was offered. The cereals, toast, tea and coffee were fine, but the hot self service style breakfas... Stayed a couple nights to see local sights in Cardiff. Nice rooms, very friendly staff. No hotel parking, but public parking across the street by the railway station at reasonable prices (parked outside of the garage). Never needed to use the car, all was within easy walking distance. Lots of night activity outside the front door, but never noticed noise in the room from that or the railway station next door. Full Irish breakfast available. I stayed in the Clayton overnight on Wednesday 25th into Thursday 26th May. The stay was booked by work so I didn't have a say, however it is a pleasant hotel with well-appointed rooms for the class. The WiFi is free and open - no password required I arrived at about 9pm and was welcomed and booked into the room in a friendly and efficient way. I didn't eat dinner in the hotel so can't comment on that aspect however breakfast was good - a wide selection of English cooked, cereals, continental a... Read more

We stayed 6 nights at the Clayton hotel. We had a room overlooking the center of hotel. The room was a little cramped but clean. The best part thing about this hotel is location. The train station is close and lots of places to eat and shop. The bed and pillows were a little hard. We had breakfast one morning and it was lovely. Great views from the restaurant. We would definitely visit again.

This is a perfectly acceptable hotel for a short stay in Cardiff. It is particularly well-located for the train station and the city centre. The room was comfortable and clean but this is not a luxurious, plush hotel. I would stay here again for a short time.

Visited local bar only 2 minutes away call Peppermint. Then had a value meal at the Witherspoon on opposite side to hotel. Finished with a drink in the hotel bar plea sent atmosphere. Enjoyed a quiet night and breakfast was good set up for meeting.

Short walk from the railway station. Opposite a delightful Wetherspoons and the main drag to the castle. Staff very helpful. Check in was a breeze. Room on the 11th floor was quiet. Ice machine on all floors. Lovely hotel, would definitely recommend if you are staying in Cardiff for both business and pleasure. View from our room was of the railway track, quite ironic as I work on the railway.

Location really cannot be beaten if attending an event at the Principality Stadium. A 5-10 min walk depending on your gate. Right in the middle of everything and yet extremely quiet and peaceful room. Our room was clean and well appointed. Parking at the nearby Wood Street NCP is discounted to a reasonable £9 per 24 hours. Nice Wetherspoons pub opposite but also nice bar on level one of the hotel. No complaints what-so-ever. As a four star hotel it is reasonable to expect a higher standard than a lower rated hotel and the step up to this level has not yet been achieved . I've stayed in most of Cardiff's hotels. The Clayton is by far the best mix of quality and location.
