I visited this hotel 12 months ago on a business trip, so I was flabbergasted to see the current "state" of it! Whilst on the surface, everything at this hotel looks "rosy". However as with everything, the devil is in the detail. There is a lot of paint falling off the walls in the swimming pool area, across the hotel and the rooms are looking "tired". The fixtures and fittings need a "spruce up" - but nothing insurmountable. The WiFi Signal across the hotel is at best "patchy". Especially if yo... Read more

Well I booked St. Mellons Hotel because it could accommodate a family of 4. We travelled from London on Saturday and arrived around 3pm. The family room was nice enough a little worn around the edges. We got our swim gear ready and headed to the pool, no changing for families or more importantly babies, the pool room was in a terrible way, paint hanging off the walls and damp. The pool was freezing!! We couldn't take the kids in! I went and spoke to the receptionist who said "Yeah sorry ... Read more

Crap service on check in , had to be let in the main building to check out where the girl just took the key out my wife's hands and said goodbye. Room was dated , Tv didn't work buttons missing , bathroom mouldy , unclean and paint peeling. The wooden panelled bath was coming apart. Bedding was stained , and uncomfortable. Spa is gross... I cut my foot on a rusty nail in the hot tub from where a plastic guard was missing .. Pool was freezing and around the sides of the pool the plasterbo... Read more

Stayed in one of their garden rooms which was ok apart from the crack in the ceiling. Very poor wifi connection. The hotel itself could do with a spruce up. The pool, gym and spa area look good. I had dinner in the bar just of the spa area, the soup was nice but the risotto was awful. It was meant to have butternut squash but all I could find was chunks of hard carrots. The best thing for me about the hotel was the location and I probably would stay again.

I would have rated five stars however it was let down by a grey haired woman at breakfast who worked there (didn't get her name). We stayed in one of the chalets, they were clean and spacious. They had comfy beds, tea and coffee materials, fresh towels/bedsheets every day if you needed it. Gardens were beautiful, breakfast was lovely. We used the pool which is included in the price of the room which was also lovely. A bit of building work going on so scaffolding is up but that can't be helped, i... Read more
