I loved the location at first for the purpose of working in Newmarket, that was to prove a short love affair as the traffic getting out of Cambridge the next morning was bordering on criminal. Lovely place Cambridge and the people seem very friendly but the stress of driving a car here should be avoided, do as most of the locals do, get on a bike. The hotel is ok, clean and tidy, didn't enjoy the shower as the water temperature couldn't make up its mind whether to be hot or really hot. Whilst l... Read more

Staff are nice and helpful, and this hotel feels less busy than some. Drawbacks are the location and the traffic getting into and out of the centre, but distance-wise it's not far and if you avoid peak times it's only about 10 minutes. Reasonably located for accessing other roads to visit outlying areas; we highly recommend Anglesey Abbey and Wicken Fen. We liked the semi-rural feel created by the grass and trees around the hotel, and seeing the rabbits and birds. Rooms facing the back on the up... Read more

Spent 2 nights here while working in Cambridge. As usual with holiday inn express WYSIWYG. Clean, comfortable & very friendly staff. They really couldn't do enough for us. Rooms were good.Breakfast was good. Only minor snag was its a bit out of town. A £10 taxi ride & there's nowhere to walk to to eat. They do food at the hotel which we did one night & was ok but had a taxi the second night for a change of scenery & choice of beers .

Comfortable hotel located at the far end of a business park. Quiet location with a gym a couple of minutes walk away. The hotel offers a discount day rate if you fancy a workout. Rooms are typical HIE layout with showers but are in good condition and good value for money. Breakfast is well organised and none of the food choices ran out, even during the busiest period on Sunday morning. One thing to be aware of if you're going by car, on busy days, arrive late and you'll struggle to find a par... Read more

When booking a stay at the Holiday Inn - be it in Mumbai or London - you know you will get the kind of service and comfort you would expect from a business chain property. The location was within a short drive from the center, rooms were clean and unimaginative, the staff was perfectly friendly and the food was edible. Certainly not a property for luxury lovers or to write-home about, but it provides comfort and convenience at a very decent price!

Stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of May. Although the outside temperature was quite cool for the time of year and the room (215) faces North, the room itself was far too hot for us. I hate to think what it would be like on a hot summer's day ! The air temperature control unit on the wall just inside the door can be adjusted to cooler or hotter, but this has absolutely no affect on the room temperature. The control unit might as well not be there, other than to control fan speed.... Read more

The location isn't great - it's £10 for a taxi to the edge of Cambridge- and it sits on a soulless industrial estate. However, the staff are friendly and efficient to a person. Check in easy. The room clean, comfortable and roomy. Free WiFi was an incredibly welcome boon (good work HIE). On that level this is a good value hotel. The food is, sadly, mediocre. It isn't poor but rather tasteless and disappointing for £15 per main course. Similarly the breakfast is plentiful and has loads of choi... Read more

This hotel is quite out of the way but pleasant enough. Has been refurbished compared to some other express hotels and the rooms are quite pleasant. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Reasonable if you are on a budget but being more central could be worth paying a little extra for.

Location is not the best, hidden at the back of a very busy business park off residential roads but the hotel itself is modern, clean and well equipped for a hotel at it's price. And at night the area is very quiet. Very friendly, professional staff. Spotless rooms. Decent food available and a bar on site (though typical hotel bar price premium). Very fast free and stable wifi. No faffing about with codes. All in all a perfectly good place to spend a night.

The hotel was a little difficult to find with the GPS but we finally found it. The staff were Ok we had booked a room with a sofa bed for my daughter but no one came to make it up when we had ask even after a second time also. Then in the late night when we got back at 11 pm the night man brought some bedding and we made up the bed.The breakfast was good and free wifi rooms felt a little small but ok. We found the check in staff friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy and what we expected from Holiday Inn Express and past hotels. Our only criticism was we went for a meal there at night, and sat at the table and waiting staff were to and froing with food to other guests. There was a menu on the table and we assumed we would be asked what we want. We waited for a while and finally I went to the reception desk nearby to be told you order at the desk. What a great place. Although quite a bit outside the city centre- the most important things for a Hotel were well above standard. The cleanliness of the rooms was spotless,i could not find any dust, dirt etc anywhere. The bathroom was idem dito. The beds are to die for, stiff and supportive- we had two very good nights sleep here. The staff were kind and friendly....a super hotel and a shining example of a Hoilday Inn.

Arrived mid afternoon to a very friendly and efficient welcome at the check in desk. The hotel is situated in a business park but it was very quiet with nice grounds (plenty of rabbits and squirrels!). Room was clean and well appointed. Breakfast was limited (only three hot dishes) but this is a budget hotel and the quality and cleanliness was high. The only let down of the stay (and thus not 5 stars) was dinner which was not of a high quality being stodgy, sparse and in some cases lukewarm.

I stayed here many times throughout April and May. The staff were great. Always friendly, welcoming and started to recognise me as I checked in. As I was here on business, some days I just wanted to check in and not speak to anyone. They were great at recognising this and just checking me in very quickly with no fuss. I was even offered the same room every time I stayed. The new look and feel of the Express brands is much better than it used to be. I applaud the designer as it is very function... Read more

We booked a family room and were not disappointed. Two large beds and a sofa/seating area with desk - and bathroom of course. The room was quiet and clean. Exceeded my expectations. We dined in the bar area and sadly a bit of a wait on what appeared to be a quiet evening but the food was ok nevertheless - quite large portions so hubby & I shared a chicken burger meal. It's not easy to find hotel accommodation in Cambridge at short notice. We were visiting an out of town attraction and so I was happy to select an out of town hotel. This is in a fairly quiet location with occasional passing trains. The room was a little small for a family but would have been fine for a couple. The breakfast was great. It cost around £9 - 11 to get a taxi into town and back when we did need to go, but the rest of the time it was easy to park and drive when we needed.

15 of us stayed here for a hen party, it was perfect as a base while in Cambridge. Loads of free parking, the room & bathroom was clean and modern. The bar area was really nice and the drinks were very reasonable. The only thing I didn't rate was breakfast, hardly any choice, didn't really fancy beans on toast, a full English would have been much better after a night out in Cambridge. Staff I dealt with were all very professional & helpful. Would be quite happy to stay here again.
