We stay at the Doubletree in Cambridge fairly often. It is well-located in the city, has a car park and the service is very good. Our last visit at the end of April went very well. The gym is now closed, but you can use the University gym opposite, which is OK. We did not eat in the newly-branded M-P White restaurant (other than for a very good breakfast) this time, as there are a few good places to eat in Cambridge.

Another lovely stay in Cambridge at The Garden House Doubletree. In my opinion the location cannot be beaten. Sitting right next to the River Cam and Coe Fen. So peaceful and yet right in the centre of the city. Forgiving the 1960s architecture the inside of the hotel is bright and comfortable. The staff are all very helpful. A good breakfast buffet with all the usual suspects plus a DIY waffle station. After breakfast we took our coffee and sat outside on the terrace by the river and watched th... Read more

While the hotel room was adequate and clean and the restaurant above average for a hotel venue, the absence of an in-house fitness center( have to go down the block to a University gym) and a working business center makes this unacceptable as a business hotel. Probably OK for tourists.

The hotel is currently undergoing an upgrade and clearly needs it so that will greatly improve things as it really is in a great spot. The Windows and balcony doors open too so that's a bonus as a/c wasn't the best. Beds are comfortable with good pillows but bathrooms are showing their wear badly. Try and get a balcony room overlooking the river if you can. The fact that twice during our 4 night stay the music was left on going round and round through the external speakers outside our room (had... Read more

I stayed here with my partner and child last weekend. Whilst the location is very pleasant and the staff very nice I was shocked at the lack of service offered when i had a problem. The problem was that there was a rather disgusting stain on a mattress on the settee bed. Despite I was staying for 2 nights their resolution was that I move to a smaller room. A replacement mattress or a cleaning service would be an obvious choice that seemed out of their reach. When I suggested that their response ... Read more

We were looking for a stay in Cambridge, but also wanted to use our Tesco points in order to soften the blow of cost. We found the Double Tree by Hilton and decided to go with it. Initially I was a little disappointed as we were ONLY allowed to book a King Sized Double Room using the points which was £199 per night, but once the Tesco points were deducted, it only cost us £94 for the 1 night stay. Still, a little expensive for what we wanted, but the quality of the hotel made it more than wort... Read more

This hotel is the perfect combination of professional and laid-back. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The lobby and bar are inviting and relaxed (one nice detail is the big pitcher of chilled, fruited water as you come through the door). The outdoor restaurant is beautiful - right on the river. Only hotel to abut the River Cam. Also right next to a place to book a punting trip. The hotel can get you a small discount on punting if you purchase thru them. Very walkable to all the city center sights/sites. If you upgrade from regular room you'll get a balcony (small) that gives you a wonderful view of the Cam. Enjoy.

Great location, right on the river, punting straight outside and just a short walk to town, but don't expect a spacious room. We paid a sizeable amount thinking we would be getting a lovely room - it was only expensive as it was graduation week and the prices had been doubled! The location is great, but the hotel itself is rather shabby outside of the lobby areas. The rugs in the hall were torn, the woodwork in our room was chipped, and there were marks on our walls. Lucky enough to have been given a large suite on the hotel's corner, overlooking the river Cam in both directions. The suite was massive with king bed, sofa, large desk space, walk in robe, large bathroom and fabulous natural light. Charming location off the main streets with a dedicated carpark. We used the hotel for a short stay in Cambridge, beginning on Sunday evening and departing on the Tuesday morning. The hotel is very well located for sightseeing around Cambridge, and it backs onto the river Cam with a beautiful riverside patio (which we didn't use!). There is parking there as well, but be warned that it's expensive at £19.50 per night. We used the excellent Park and Ride at Trumpington, which charges £20 for up to 48 hours. We had an enjoyable lunch here on a Sunday and sat outside watching people in their punts and canoes going by along the river which has to be one of the best locations along the Cam. The hotel's black garden furniture has tables which are numbered and you can order light meals at the bar. We ordered steak baguettes which were fine and came with chips and salad. Drinks could be ordered whilst outside. Great location by the river.

As one would expect, rooms and services are of acceptable standards. Breakfast is more than adequate with a very good spread. The nicest bit is to sit out in the garden by the river and watch the punts go by. The only negative is the cost of £19.50 per day for parking.

When we arrived at this hotel our room wasn't ready so the reception staff (who were excellent) suggested we could get into our room earlier by upgrading to a better room with a balcony . This cost £30 which I wasn't bothered about. When we got into the room which was on the 3rd floor it was very narrow. I would call this room a standard room. We've been here for a few weddings, and to be honest it hasn't changed. The cost of drinks is astronomic, which wouldn't be so bad if the choice was wide, but it's not. Half of the lagers, if which there were 2 (Stella and Becks urgh), were off. You'd have thought that with a wedding party coming in they would have thought about this. The only point i will make, there were four of us, adults, only 3 mugs in our room and not enough tea, milks etc. We asked for some more and the bar staff were a bit reluctant to help with our request, 'how many would we like? One?' she said. Something that may need to be addressed by management.

I was surprised at the laconic good quality boutique hotels in central Cambridge. There only really being one. So with some trepidation went for a Icon of corporate hotels Hilton. And pleasantly I was impressed by it. Friendly efficient knowledgable staff.Efficent, clean, organised and most of all fantastically located 30 seconds from The famous Mill pub where tradition is undergraduate grads go for a pint after their last exam. 2 minutes walk from kings parade. One couldn't really get better loc... Read more

I went to the Doubletree in Cambridge full of expectation based on a very good conference I had attended just a week before. On that basis, six of us decided it would be a great place for a friends' reunion so we booked three rooms and ?? in hindsight stupidly ?? we booked in for dinner too. I could have forgiven the hotel for the tired room and used-looking bathroom ?? after all this is a city centre hotel and very popular. But the food: that was a disaster. For a hotel restaurant bearing th... Read more

We stayed with our 5month daughter, staff were really helpful and providedad us with a travel cot, high chair for breakfast and nothing was a problem. Definitely stay here again, made us feel very welcome and location was perfect.

Spent two nights here. Tried to check in and received no welcome (or promised cookie). We were told we couldn't check in (we weren't really expecting to) but could if we paid forty pounds for an upgrade. The car park was £20.00 per night which was very steep considering the hotel is an expensive one. Tried to use the wifi but, although it was meant to be free in the lounge, tried to charge twelve pounds. The ladies at the bar acted as if everything was too much trouble. On a positive note, the... We have stayed at the Doubletree several times before, and we knew that the rooms were small, the corridors narrow and the street approach uninspiring. For Hilton??s premium brand, this is no longer an appealing property, as the building is showing its age and there are few facilities other than a bar, restaurant and spa. But, the position is very convenient, very close to the centre of Cambridge, and the views over the river are delightful. The buffet breakfast had a good choice, although t... Read more

Excellent hotel, city centre and quiet. Rooms comfortable. Staff friendly, efficient and professional. Superb breakfast and although we were quit late going to breakfast we were not hurried out at all. My only small concern is cost of parking adding £19.50 per day to the room cost

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large and nicely decorated. The view over the river was not to be missed. Breakfast was very tasty with a large choice of hot and cold food. We will be staying here again.

If you're afraid of heights, avoid this hotel. There is no way to get to any room without a glass walled elevator and terrifying hallways ringing a huge drop to the ground floor. Otherwise really great. Clean room, decent food, easy parking and food service

The title essentially says it all: a beautiful central location in a very special city and a great place to stay. Much enjoyed it' breakfasts and the restaurant were good too. Car parking fees at nearly £20 per day for residents are quite steep but considering the location perhaps not untoward

Good location for visiting the different Cambridge colleges; efficient and customer friendly service. Hotel may need some renovation and hence relative expensive for quality offered in terms of present condition of facilities and venue.
