At only £10 more than nearby budget hotels this is great value. We'll furnished bedroom and good looking bar and restaurant areas. Pool is functional, but is in the basement so don't expect natural light or air. Plenty of 6pm to 8am free street parking around the back and sides of the hotel.

Stayed here before and this trip was everything I expected and more. Huge room with 2 double beds, all the facilities you could wish for in the room, and the hotel has a good bar, restaurant, great leisure facilities and great staff. For me the location is perfect being only 2 minutes from the construction project I am working on. Love this hotel and will definitely be back.

The rooms are large, light and airy. There is little corridor noise and the curtains provide a good level of blackout. It is located on the Southern fringe of the City Centre so only a short walk to a number of good restaurants. The staff are very attentive. Breakfast is above average for this level of hotel. Car parking is available on nearby streets if the hotel's one is full. The pool is small! Overall this is a very good hotel for the price.

, I am very fortunate to have stayed at this hotel - the quality of service is simply fantastic. When I mentioned at reception that there was a slightly strange aroma in my room the manager immediately came to the room with me and agreed there was a small issues that needed to be rectified and immediately moved me to a much larger room, explaining that the hotel was very busy and the larger room was the best available for my stay. There were lots of huge windows that did not open and the room was very hot even with the air conditioning blowing at it's coldest temperature. Also, I don't recommend the food in the hotel restaurant. It is very expensive for what you are served. My husb... Read more

Booked 3 rooms for a weekend break. When we first checked in one of the rooms we were allocated was absolutely disgusting, it smelt like rotten cheese.... disappointing since the decor was lovely. We were given another room which was fine. We used the pool which was a huge disappointment, it was very shabby and dark in the pool area. The location of the hotel is good for exploring the city centre. Breakfast was good.

Fantastic weekend in a great hotel. Big rooms, lovely decor, excellent breakfast and bar menu. Staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Ideal location for Bristol's restaurants, bars and clubs as well as close to the shops. Spa facilities offered a range of treatments, my head massage was sooo relaxing! Small swimming pool but enough for a few lengths and a relaxing dunk. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will return for a weekend break. Thank you!

The facilities were easily up to 4 star rating and all worked well even the early morning alarm call and the taxi to the airport at 4.00am. The location is perfect if you want to visit the harbourside with its many bars and restaurants - Temple Meads station is a short walk away and the main shopping area a bit further. 3 stars at best if that. It looks nice at first glance but on closer inspection falls way below the standards expected from a 4* hotel. Water marks on spoons, dirty sheets left on bed just made up again, kettle that doesn't seem to know when it's boiled, TV without any remotes and dust every where. On the plus side the spa is not bad although overpriced for its services.

He was looking for a nice hotel with spa close to the city centre. We travelled to Bristol (first timers) with the intention of enjoying the city but also relaxing in the hotel spa, Therefore the location of the hotel just a stroll from the city centre was perfect, Positive score for the hote location! As a treat for my mum I took her to Bristol to see the Rocky Horror Show, I selected this hotel from a deal I found on bookings.com. the hotel said they had an indoor pool and spa, it was also a short walk to theatre, so I thought great! However I can't help but feel it didn't live up to my expectations for the best rated hotel 2015. Reception area was busy with hen parties arriving for the weekend. I had not intended to stay at the Holland House Hotel. My booking was with the Mercure Brigstowe Hotel. Unfortunately, when I arrived at that hotel for my pre-booked, paid in full overnight accommodation, they had double booked the room. To add insult to injury, they had not bothered to inform me of this fact, although I had telephoned them to say, due to an emergency in my family, I would be arriving very late. I stay here every week for business and the quality of the hotel is very good. It is in a ideal location. Car parking pricey at £13 per night, car parking free from 5pm - 9am around the hotel. Food is good quality. Small gym and pool but still very good. Room quality is excellent and staff always happy to help.

This hotel is not poor, but compared with its sister hotel in Exeter there's room for improvement! The bathroom was unclean - I hate writing that as it wasn't the sanitary ware, but seriously there should not be 'fluff' on the floor and I don't care that it was just around the door. It's inappropriate and shows a lack of attention to detail. The ceiling needs a lick of paint and it could be a little more fragrant (bit damp). I stayed here for one night on business, ideally located in the city centre of Bristol so plenty on your doorstep. Plenty of parking in the car park available. Reception area was very smart and although a queue for check in staff remained calm and professional. I was soon in the lift heading for my room 435. Lovely room, very comfortable and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Good range of food available from the restaurant and bar menus but I had room service (£5.00 tray charge) I ordered the be... Read more

My wife and I stayed two nights in this hotel. It is very well located if you want to go to the city centre by foot (only a 10 min walk to get to a restaurant). The room was clean, the staff was pleasant. However we couldn't sleep a lot during the first night, because our neighbors were really noisy (TV on until 4 o'clock...). But that's not the staff fault. The next morning we asked if we can change room in case our neighbors would have stayed for another night. The staff agreed. Fortunately w... Read more

The Mercure Bristol Holland House is centrally located and has convenient adjacent parking at £13 per day. It sounds expensive but for us it was a vital attribute and much appreciated.. Our room (201) was spotless, quiet, and equipped as expected for the price point. The bed was large and very comfortable. The shower room was palatial. The positioning of the bed and wardrobe made walking across the room carrying a case rather difficult as there was only a 12 inch gap. The one relaxing chair was... Read more

Stayed here for a two night 'getaway'. Lovely modern hotel, rooms clean, great bed, I had the best nights sleep in a long time. Reception staff friendly and nothing to much trouble. The location is excellent for eating and drinking as plenty of restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk. That said, the hotel bar is fine. My only slight moan is that I would have preferred a bath to a shower, but that is my personal preference. I would definitely stay here again, another plus is a bus st... Read more

I stayed here for 5 night on a work trip. On arrival was pleasant at first. Room was nice good size and modern looking.Breakfast was good with wide choice of different things. However my room came with complementary water and soft drinks, I spoke to reception and requested the drinks be sugar free. No problem I was told. Every day I was given full sugar drinks!! I used the still water every day but it kept being replaced with the sparkling water. I can only presume this was done to stop me using... Read more

Due to other unplanned circumstances it was a fairly last minute decision to choose the Mercure hotel Bristol and not having visited the city before we were a little apprehensive especially with it being our 8th wedding anniversary. On arrival we parked easily and made our way to reception where the receptionist couldn't have been more helpful going out of her way in arranging an upgrade and talking us through the local sights and suggestions for places to eat. The room we were given was to an e... Read more

I've stayed in about 10 different hotels in the UK this year, and this one is one of the best, if slightly above the average price I've paid. It has an excellent pool - large and rectangular - at an excellent temperature for swimming, but not really for lounging about in (too cold for that). The room was very good quality with a very fine kingsize bed (we both slept well on it, with excellent pillows). Definitely one of the best beds I've slept on in hotels. Shower was adequate in power, but... Read more

My husband, our 2year old and I had a one night stay at mercure holland house. Previously stopping at mercure Exeter we expected a great service and experience, however was disappointed that this was not what we received. On checking in i checked with reception staff that the room was a family room, at which she confirmed it was. After a long drive we checked in at 10pm and made our way to room 474 with a very tired 2year old. On settling in and putting my son to sleep I went to freshen up be... Read more

Large bright room, double sized shower, good offerings for breakfast (with specials made to order on weekdays) . Parking a is limited and because of this people parked all over the place, had to do 25 point turn to get out of my proper parking spot. Whilst the hotel was clean and modern felt that for its position and overall jumbled amenities, boring sparse toiletries and laughable offerings in a privilege room (three cans of Coke and three Nespresso capsules - oh a couple of bottles of wat... We had booked in for a 3pm arrival and told the hotel that we needed the rooms to be ready as we had a meal planned for 4pm in the centre. On arrival we found the hotel car park absolutely crammed with cars and had to wait for a long time. We eventually found a space but they are so small it was a nightmare to get it. One of the rooms werent ready which was the bride to be's room so she had to go into her sisters room to get ready. When she did get her room it was a disabled room. The room itse... Read more

Arrived at about 8pm after a long day. Check in was very quick and went to my room which was well decorated and spacious. Ate with colleagues in the restaurant that evening. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the nachos and a rice dish - very nice. My room was quite cold so I turned he heating on and asked reception for a 2nd duvet which was delivered extremely quickly. Would definitely stay here again!

Room was lovely, comfortable large bed. We both slept well. Breakfast , well presented, tasty and plenty. Dinner - steak and chips - beautiful, cooked as we requested. Staff approachable and helpful. Great location for jogs along the docks and up to the suspension bridge. The not so good: Some of the bathroom fittings fell off the wall but were easily replaced. The bar is extortionate. The food was good but not exceptional. They only managed to produce edible porridge for one of my two breakfasts there. Overall I've stayed in far worse and for a business tr... Read more

I stayed here for 3 nights, the staff are friendly and very helpful. The housekeeping staff are efficient and discrete. Even when 'laying-in' with my DnD tag on the door, they were quiet whilst cleaning the adjoining rooms. Breakfast was a nice experience, always someone to note the room number and escort one to a suitable table. Breakfast itself delicious, fresh with a good choice of food. Recommended.

I'd stayed here a few years ago and had forgotten just how great the location of the hotel is. A short walk finds you down by the waterside and the main shopping area, Old Vic etc. The hotel itself is very good, with modern rooms, well decorated and modern in every respect. The hotel staff were very good, friendly and consistent throughout our stay as was the quality of food etc. Overall, a pretty good location with car parking too, albeit at £13 a night!

Dont expect a spa. There is a dingy shallow chemically treated pool if you ask enough questions but NO sauna, NO jacuzzi etc etc. If you want to walk across the carpark there is a separate overpriced "spa" treatment block where you can pay £80 for a variety of treatments/massage...etc. Slightly disappointed. Oh... and coffee machine ( paid extra for Espresso ) and trouser press did not work....

Clean and comfortable rooms, with tea and coffee provisions in the room. Really nice to chill out and enjoy a brew in the room. Food was nice. Drinks were very reasonably price. Plenty seating in the bar area and the decor lovely. Well priced and not far from the shopping area. We stayed to visit Longleat Safari Park and House which was not to far away.

This hotel was great for our one night stay. The rooms was very clean and spacious. The hotel is only about a 10 mins walk to the shops and restaurants in Bristol and very close to the train station too. We did think the car park was very expensive at £13 though and feel you shouldn't have to pay if staying there. This would be the only thing that affects us staying there again and a shame as the hotel is quite lovely and relaxed

Fairly basic hotel, would've expected a lot more for a mercure hotel. Reception team uninviting. The decor is lovely and bright and spacious. We waited over 45 minutes for our lunch time meal despite the whole place being completely empty. Paying £27 for 3 single drinks is absolutely extortionate! If I had known at the time I never would've ordered them - I'm still wondering whether it was an error?! Wouldn't return.
