The hotel itself, the quality of the internal environment, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff are all excellent, top drawer What let's it down somewhat is the part of Bristol that the hotel finds itself in, no doubt after some committed regeneration this will be addressed But the real (pleasant) surprise for me was the quality of the food that Kevin, the senior Soux chef, produced at dinner: simply fabulous! Way better than anything I have ever experienced at a Holiday Inn ...

This hotel is very conveniently located walking distance to Cabot Circus and the Hippodrome. The best thing is the staff - I don't know what training they've had, but they were the friendliest staff I've experienced in a chain hotel in the UK, at every opportunity engaging with the client, and attempting to go the extra mile. Room comfy and spacious, large monsoon shower, on 7th floor, so fab view, and plenty of mirrors, Had dinner and food was fresh, plentiful and hot, same goes for brekkie.

Stayed here at end of May for one night on business. The room was first class and the hotel itself is nice. Overnight parking is expensive at £15 and drinks / food are not the cheapest but if you want cheaper then I guess you would stay elsewhere. The hotel is well placed for local bars / food / shopping. My only gripe was that I was charged twice for breakfast AND parking when clearly, I had only stayed for one night. When I queried this it was put right but no apology...

My partner and I stayed at the hotel and had a really great experience. The room was absolutely spot on (far better than any other holiday inn I've stayed at) and the bathroom was really nicely done, with particularly nice toiletries. For a chain of hotels which I have often stayed in but rarely found anything other than pretty standardly 'ok', the Bristol holiday inn is definitely a cut above the rest, and I would certainly recommend it.

first time staying in this location and I was very impressed by my room. Very large executive room with powerful shower and everything else i needed. Didn't eat here due to late arrival. Got the bus from the airport and it was a 5/10 minute walk from the final stop... but to be honest some parts of the walk I felt a bit cautious due to having to use the underpasses, some rough sleepers etc. Not saying they were planning, causing or looking for trouble but just a heads up for solo or young travel... Stayed here- parking on site at a slightly reduced rate. Bedrooms are clean but no bath, the shower is huge though! Loads of plug sockets which made it great, bed was comfortable. A couple of niggles with the amount of coffee and milk - not enough for 2 cups each. Breakfast was good- variety of products plus omelettes and pancakes that were made fresh. Restaurant made a good sandwich- although a little expensive

Room is neat, BUT When I arrived, I was informed that the booking was not made using the IHG membership number and therefore they did not ensure a superior room. This is not true, because my travel agency had contacted the reservation desk via email (the email address on their website) and my IHG membership number was already in that email, but the hotel did not respond, and I was copied in that email as well. Rooms are NOT filled with the complementary bottles of water like all other IHG hotel... Read more

This is discounted rate for hotel. Easy to get into hote from car park. Food is good, but no butter at breakfast only chemical margarine. (Disappointed) we ate in the bar/restaurant area. The Academy rooms at this venue are suitable for any sized meetings or conferences. Thy are clean, well equipped and the onsite NCP car parking, which is free to delegates is a bonus to everyone. It is situated in the centre of town, within easy reach of the train station and bus route for delegates using public transport. The staff are friendly and helpful from the moment you book until you depart. Nothing is too much trouble. Prices are very reasonable for a centre of town hotel.

Let's get the gripe over first. If you arrive or leave by taxi or tour bus, they cannot get anywhere near the front of the hotel and customers have to walk about 50 yards from a layby - in our case with luggage in the pouring rain. If we had travelled by car instead of train the hotel charges an exorbitant £15 a day to park in the adjacent car park. I assume that you can get directly into the hotel from the car park so why not have an arrangement that the taxis can use that for drop off? Othe... Read more

The room I had was a superior king size which was very spacious with a two seater couch, it was very clean and decorated to a good standard. I'd expected a normal room/toilet but was told that this was the only room available. Unlike some other hotels which inform you upfront if this is so, this hotel doesn't. It does not seem ethical to allocate such a room without the choice informed upon booking. If this was conveyed ahead i would not have stayed at the hotel. My dissatisfactio... Read more

Went again for lunch Sunday 17th, after having such a lovely meal on Mothers Day. Was concerned that it might not be as good but it was great. The food is really good and plenty of variety. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The restaurant itself is light and airy. Would definitely recommend it.

We spent one night in Bristol, and were fortunate in our choice of hotel. The room was spacious and well-appointed, and the staff very helpful. We were allowed late check out as our bus did not leave until the afternoon. The location was very central for the few things we had time to do while we were there. The free internet and the TV worked well.

Great hotel to stay in. Visited for a weekend with friends. Breakfast hot and tasty. Clean and friendly close to every thing you might want to do as a visitor to Bristol. Taxis and buses great way to get around. Train station easy to get to. Staff gave exceptional service. Special mention to Craig and Hamda on reception and concierge Rich who all went that extra mile to make our stay special. Will definitely be returning.

Stayed for one night on 24th September. Staff were extremely professional and welcoming. The lady at the front desk (I think her name was Hamda - not sure!) made our stay a very positive one. She was courteous and efficient and went out of her way to help us on a few occasions - we arrived early and she took our baggage for us, she called the Housekeeping staff to see if our room could be made ready early, and she arranged for us to check out late at a very reasonable price as we were running... Myself and my partner (23 year olds) stayed here on Friday 23rd September and we have no complaints at all. The hotel was extremely modern and stylish, whilst also being very clean. We only stayed one night but the hotel offered all that we could have wanted- even the small things such as complimentary tea/coffee and shower gels etc, all was on offer to you and there was much of it. The bed was the comfiest I think I've ever stayed in at a hotel and we did not want to get out! Before staying ... Read more

Good for the city centre!!! A BIG room which felt very modern and bright unlike some of the other city centre hotels I've stayed in, in Bristol. The room, bed linen and towels were all very clean and there was a glass shower screen rather than curtain (shower curtains are a pet hate!). Very good location wise to go into the city for shopping etc. Friendly welcome on reception and pleasant staff when I ordered room service. I stay here every 2 weeks on business and have never had a complaint. Staff are always very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Menu is good but could be doing with having a few lighter options (baked potatoes etc). Good location in the centre of Bristol. Cabots Circus shopping centre is literally 2 minutes walk away. Perfect if you fancy eating out or payday spending! Beds are comfy and rooms are always clean. Can't fault it!

Regular Holiday Inn, ideally located to all parts of central Bristol. Niggle: Reception is on the second floor. Found it hugely irritating that all lifts were pre programmed to always call/stop at the second floor. Leaving the user having to request the floor again to get things moving. Parking on site is ok through what seemed to be an arrangement with NCP car parks. Ok, although for NCP to squeeze more in, the parking spaces were too small and could well lead to door damage.

This is my first ever review, which I felt compelled to write after my stay at this hotel. I'd spent a while debating over which room type to have, due to there being quite a selection. I opted for a room with a balcony. Check-in was all fine but when I got to the room I was disappointed to find that the room smelt badly of cigarette smoke. A few points to mention: a small stain on the bed sheet and towels could have been whiter, so not quite 10/10, also only had 1 dressing gown and pair of slippers in the room when 2 people were using the room.
