It's the little touches that really make the difference. A coffee machine in the room as well as a kettle. A good selection of teas and lovely biscuits. A fridge with complimentary proper fresh milk and a bottle of water. Venetian blinds as well as curtains to block out the light. Spa treatments that actually last the full session time, rather than spent filling out forms. Above all, staff who are extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. The only complaint we had was the air con in the restaur... Read more

Very nice rooms and great Spa facilities. Restaurant can be busy and on the expensive side. The hotel is located within a business park so don't expect shops close by. There is a a sister lodge directly opposite where you can find a cash machine.

Having picked this hotel due to proximity my clients HQ, arrived around 1800 checked in immediately the entrance and public areas were really modern and in keeping , my room was allocated on the 3rd it seemed really dated, dark and in need of a revamp , the bathroom looked tired to the point it looked dirty , I enquired then at reception thinking it was a "classic" type room and checked to see if any other ones were available so to make sure I book an upgrade next time I visit ! Have stayed here a couple of times with my family and cannot recommend the hotel highly enough. The rooms are extremely spacious and clean, the spa is very relaxed and caters for every need. On both occasions we have eaten at the hotel restaurant and the food is very good. I would recommend the chef's table to anyone either for a starter or a main. Breakfast is also excellent. The biggest credit to the hotel however is the staff. Last year I visited with my 9 month old and this year with a ... Read more

Travelling on business I had made a reservation at the Aztec Hotel and Spa in Bristol. What a lovely, lovely hotel. Room/bed were very clean and comfortable. I wish I had the time to take in all the extras (spa/pool-in an environment that allows you to distress and feel revived)! That's how I felt and I did not have time to partake. I was very late to dinner ~2130, but you would have thought I was the first person of the day to arrive. The food was very good and the service was excellent. ... Read more

This hotel does excel in every respect . Surroundings, rooms etc are great . A great breakfast but the best assets are the staff . They were genuinely very helpful and nice . There was a minor technical hitch ref room rate and breakfast which they dealt with brilliantly. Well done to the staff and the guys behind the scenes making this very good operation work

Booked an overnight stay for my husband's birthday. As always we go straight for this hotel as it is a lovely friendly clean hotel with a fantastic pool and spa. We find the staff's attitude and willingness to please second to none. On this particular trip we were so impressed with Jason (in the restaurant) nothing was too much trouble and we felt most welcome- what a top guy ! Looking forward to booking up again.

We stayed here for my sister's hen do on the 'girl's night out' package. They could not have been more helpful, both in the run up to our stay (something I definitely appreciated as the organiser of the group!) and whilst we were there. Whilst there the team were attentive without being intrusive and nothing was too much trouble for them. The facilities were great and the food amazing!! Had a working lunch and was very impressed by the layout and bar area. Menu and food was excellent, service too, however having ordered fish & chips I asked twice to both waitresses for vinegar. Sadly it didn't arrive by the time I finished. Fish & Chips for me aren't the same without salt and vinegar. Hopefully next time.

On arrival we reconfirmed what was included in the rate as the online information is a little ambiguous to say the least ( parking is not included no matter what rate you pay ! ) There were a few niggles - the room was set up for single occupancy ( presume most of their midweek occupancy come from this type of business) however, since we had b... I've been stopping here for 4 years+, there has been some recent refurbishment, but more work is needed. The last 2 times I've been I've had a scolding hot shower that could be turned down, and last night the room had a really badly rusted bath (see picture) with cracked tiles. This really isn't good for a hotel of this price...or any hotel for that matter, and these are things that housekeeping should be reporting, not customers.

The facilities are first rate as is the service in the restaurant. The rooms are all furnished to a high standard. Very good value for money. Rooms and location are fine and as good as most 4 star hotels but be warned that there are hidden charges for parking (who arrives in a place like this on foot?) & for payment by credit card (who doesn't use these nowadays?). Stayed here on a business trip and was very pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The outside pretty much looks like a bog standard hotel but the interior is smart, welcoming and certainly not like your average Hilton or Marriot chain hotel. The staff were excellent throughout our stay and the food was good. It is not great for wheelchair access as the hotel is spread out on a number of levels. But if that isn't an issue for you then I would recommend it as a good stopover off the M5.

A large meeting/bar/food area, with plenty of options for the type of space you want to meet in. Food and service were really good with plenty of staff. There was a business event on but still a good service. The hotel looks excellent with a pool and spa (didn't visit either but the pool looked good). Have used it several times and its alwa... First time ever to this venue and probably the last, how can you book a wedding and reception and have to move half way through cos somebody booked an eighteenth birthday party on same day totally unprofessional. As for room clean and tidy comfy bed, wallpaper hanging off taps in bathroom came away in your hand draws not shutting fully cracks in tiles all round bath and this in four star hotel. Breakfast was good and staff all very polite. Not for the faint hearted

I visit the Aztec on a regular basis, usually always in a business capacity. The overall service and standards of the hotel is outstanding, but I would like to mention that I am particularly impressed with the breakfast service. When I stay on business I am usually very busy in the mornings and pressed for time. Jason from the restuarant team always makes sure I have a table as promptly as possible and my requirements are met immediately. This makes my morning run swiftly and I thoroughly enjoy ... Read more

Spent the day in this hotel, the decor is modern and on trend. It is a pleasant place to spend time with various seating areas and attentive staff. What did let the hotel down was its lunch menu which was basic and small. We all struggled to find something healthy to eat with a complete lack of salads. Most items where carb heavy and I had to request the Korean Pork without its brioche bin as closet I could get to a healthy option. It was cooked well and salad was added instead of the fries but ... Nice welcome in reception, a lovely comfortable room, everything seemed clean and fresh. There was real milk in the room fridge for making tea instead of the usual UHT cartons! Dinner was nice I had a simple burger and chips and the cooked breakfast was a notch up from the usual hotel buffet offering. The staff were friendly and helpful and I enjoyed the stay.

We had an excellent room with all the facilities large screen tv, coffee machine, fridge and air con to name a few. Staff were all very polite, however, the bar staff could do with some training on how to serve drinks and what style of glasses for various drinks. My wife had a g and t and was asked if that would be in a pint glass. Hotel very clear and well presented.

Arrived at the Aztec as part of a RN ship's reunion. The hotel staff coped admirably. It lives up to its 4 stars. I liked the two level room, a mini lounge with settee down a step from the bed area. The décor/design of the public areas are relaxing to sit in. Even though it was mass catering the food was good. The location is an easy drop off from the motorway which would be good for business people.

We were allocated an excellent ground floor room with its own little patio by the duck pond - very nice! Access to the room was a little tricky, through or round the spa, but that didn't really put us off. The spa was good, as was breakfast. Just a little disappointed with the new dinner menu as some of the dishes were not really sufficient on their own and you needed to order a side dish of vegetables at an extra cost. I thought this was a thing of the past. These days, I expect a dish to ... Read more

The hotel is listed as 4 * & although the Hotel & Staff have endeavored to maintain this level I felt that on the catering side they would struggle to achieve a 2* listing. Breakfast Basic items like no teaspoons for Eating Yoghurts & Stirring drinks Sometimes you were given pots of Tea/Coffee & others some just served, if you are providing cereal bowls it helps if they can be placed under the milk tap & not at the edge. Bar Meal You would expect to be provided with a Napkin especially as... Read more

Visited this hotel along with my wife, staying 3 nights (Fri 7/10 - Sun 9/10) departing Mon 10/10/2016 to attend the above reunion. Didn't really have much contact with hotel reception staff as check-in was dealt with by the tour operator staff. However, when reception staff were asked for information regarding local area and bus availability they had no clue. Nor was there any information about local attractions and places of interest. Be warned that a taxi from the hotel into Bristol Centre ... Read more

The best things about this hotel are the staff and the restaurant. The staff are professional yet courteous and personal at the same time; helpful and friendly. The food in the restaurant was simply amazing. Yes it is a little expensive (£50 for 3 courses and one drink) but it is fine dining; the effort that goes into each dish is clear to be seen; everything hot and full of flavour. Other highlights are the comfortable rooms and relaxing pool. Highly recommended.

Absolutely beautiful hotel and decorated very tastefully indeed. The rooms are of an excellent quality with everything you need for a comforable and relaxing stay. The water and fresh milk in the fridge is a welcoming touch, I have that UHT stuff. The facilities and the bar areas were fabulous. I was there for a reunion and the evening meals and reunion room was ideal, even had its own bar area. An exceptionally good hotel let down by a couple of issues. The hotel is superb. Very commensurate to the cost. Downside is that the structure of the building means that every time a guest closes their door, your room will shake. We were woken twice (8-9am) with a cleaner attempting to gain access to our room. Not for us in the future.

This is clearly a very busy hotel, and is conveniently located next to major road junctions outside Bristol. Rooms are very comfortable and nicely equipped, and mine had a modern coffee machine. Food in the restaurant is good and there is a large pool, which unfortunately I didn't get to use. A few things let the hotel down, however. Firstly there is poor soundproofing between rooms and the corridor, so a room some distance from the lift is probably better. Strangely, the shower faucet was loc... Read more

Meeting planned here but £10 for over 1 hour when I turned up was a bit of a joke, use the Starbucks cafe opposite - Good for meetings and free parking at the moment at the barrier is out of action! Good quiet areas to meet and quite a large area at the rear.

Came for the weekend with a family group, all I can say is wow! The hotel is the most comfortable environment, with the service and quality of food to back it up. I understand the hotel has recently won several awards, rightly so. The staff are all so friendly and really do want to make your stay as special as they can. Our room was beautiful and we really did not want to leave. It is a cut above anything else you will find in the area, well done to the Aztec team, and thank you for a brilliant... Read more

Some refurbish work going on so a bit upside down but nice helpful staff, comfortable bedroom pleasant and tidy, Evening meal we were put off by other people complaining so went elsewhere. My main gripe was being charged £35 for a £13 bottle of wine just a bit too much markup, when we complained they reduced it to £30 sorry that for me is rip off.

Parking £3 all day. Breakfast was good. Overall great value for money. I will be back next time I am in the area.

We attended the Rothschild wine dinner on Friday 4th November as a group of 3 couples. The food was amazing, with wine to complement each course. The evening started with reception champagne and Oysters, then followed the sit-down meal of 4-courses and coffee. A particular highlight was the Venison main course and beautiful Nougat Glace dessert which was the best dessert I have had at a hotel, amazing.
