My wife and I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. We were in Brighton to attend a function elsewhere and we stayed at the Royal Albion overnight. Yes the hotel is a little dated but all things duly considered it is very good value for money considering its prime location in Brighton. The staff were friendly, helpful and made us feel welcomed. Our room was on the third floor and we had an sea view overlooking the pier. The room itself was a little dated but was clean and comfortabl... Read more

Ive seen so many bad reviews on here about the hotel so i was a bit aprehensive but its in a great location, the staff were friendly, the room was good for the time we was there. Great breakfast and all in all a great trip! Please dont be put off, its not a 5 star hotel and it doesn't claim to be! I would go back and definitely recommend

Visited with National holidays - very clean and comfortable bedroom and bathroom. Breakfast is well cooked and very plentiful. Dinner provided good choice of starter, main course and sweet (only down mark is the coffee which is very strong). Drinks are more expensive than local pubs but the entertainer was reasonable.

The hotel is in a perfect location and all staff were very accommodating and pleasant. Me and the girlfriend are definitely going back to Brighton and will book up again to stay at the Royal Albion. We would recommend anyone who fancies a weekend break or a week as Brighton has lots to offer and covers all ages. 8)

Excellent location but unfortunately the positives stop there. The hotel is outdated, the rooms musky and the food reminded me of really bad school dinners. Intact we couldn't even eat it. We only paid next to nothing for stay, dinner, breakfast and wine so I can't moan to much but the wine was definitely the best thing. Wouldn't go back

The Hotel staff and welcome entrance/foyer were fantastic but the actual rooms were so disappointing!! We had 2 rooms between 5 of us!! The triple room was in desperate need of up dating and repair the twin room smelled damp the large windows opened on to a public terrace curtains hanging off rail and again in desperate need of a make over!!! To top it off at 5.30am another guest was hammering and shouting through the door next door trying to get in!!! Over all very disappointing as this was on... Read more

Stayed here with my 3 children 31 May to 02 June. Staff at check-in, in training but very friendly and welcoming (a positive start). Our room was in the basement (dungeon) room 34, as we ventured through the maze of corridors the smell of stale cigarettes became apparent. The room was ok in size, the bathroom requires updating. Our room was directly opposite the pier with excellent sea views. It had all that we could reasonably expect. The domestic house keeper did an excellent job considering that it was, apparently; her first week in the job. Fresh towels were supplied every day, as was fresh supplies for the tea/coffee making facilities. The restaurant was buffet style self-service which, considering that the hotel was full; and provided good quality food. The staff, who were mainly non-English; worked very hard, sp... Read more

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on 29 and 30 June 2016. The room was initially booked by my sister who had cancer and was too ill to make the trip and has sadly since passed away. She booked and paid for in full a de lux room with a sea view and asked if 2 chairs could be situated in the window so that she could look at the view. It was also explained that she could not walk and so a lower floor would be better. Unfortunately the hotel management would not give a full refund and so all w... Read more

The food was just ok .My room was above the smoking area and we had no sleep the whole time we were there due to nosy guests in the hotel outside , taxis parked outside making a row, noise from the nightclub opposite around 5.30 am. Stayed here at the start of June as friends getting married in Brighton. It was horrible. 1 tiny service lift for all the floors. No insulation in the rooms so you can hear everything in the rooms next door (and I mean everything), ripped carpet in the room, you could not open the windows, a bouncer on the door to get in the hotel after hours ( he did not let me in to start with but let two women in with no questions) and when i left the hotel not even a goodbye from reception. Not one to complain but check in your guests first as they are the important ones. After that time for a beer. Had a great time here on Saturday enjoying a cream tea. Our waiter / bar tender was wonderfully polite and helpful and our food was lovely. I stayed in this hotel overnight on a business trip. The location was excellent just across the road from the pier and the beach. I had a walk around the gardens and the Laines and lots of restaurants and bars are in close walking distance. I went to Brighton for a conference and the company booked this hotel. On arrival we were placed in the basement rooms. AOID THESE LIKE THE PLAGUE! No window, stuffy and, in my case, cigarette burns along the bath. No toiletries, soap small and hard as a stone and towels of such thin and poor quality that drying oneself after a shower is an act of faith. To be fair, when I complained about the room I was moved the next day to a first floor room with a sea view. The breakfast was very good.

Clean and tidy room, brilliant view of the pier, coffee rather harsh not as good as Kenco or Nescafe in other hotels. Bathroom door sticking, did not shut properly, as I said nice but dated. Did not eat or drink so cannot comment, parking could be an issue as on street very limited and expensive. WiFi rubbish! my PAYG dongle was quicker!

The hotel was in a great location by the pier, near the Lanes and Pavillion etc. It was clean as well and the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are a little dated and some of the furnishings were worn to varying degrees. The Internet was slow but available. I would recommend a higher floor room as the road was quite noisy. The room was a little pricey for what it was but that seems to be a product of the high prices of all the hotels in the town itself. Overall recommend.

This is a large old Victorian hotel that has been refurbished in parts and is conveniently situated overlooking the promenade and close to the main pier, the Royal Pavilion, the Theatre Royal and the main tourist spot - The Lanes. The new i360 viewing tower is at the opposite end of the promenade (about a 10 minute walk away). There is no on-site parking, but the hotel provides a 20% discount coupon, which is accepted at local NCP car parks. We were three couple, staying two nights, and we each... Read more

Awful place! Hubby and I were passing through Brighton and needed a room. Unfortunately there was a conference and the only one we could find was here. Great grand reception unfortunately gives you false hopes and expectations. Relatively helpful staff. A group of 5 colleagues we arrived and we were all placed to 5 rooms in the basement. My room did not even have a window. Dirty floor, very old bathroom with damaged tub, old cracked furniture, awful free wi-fi -couldn't even receive e-mails- sheets and towels seemed clean though. Definitely not going back there again and will advice the company not to book there again.

Stayed at this hotel as my sister was getting married, and I must say the only thing that was nice about this hotel was that it was near the sea! Me and my boyfriend was staying in a room in the basement, the window didn't shut so all we could hear all night was people stood at the bus stop after a night out shouting. Then we had a leaky shower, I had no sleep all night! The cleaners moved the things in our room and my jewellery went missing! Over priced for the facilities you get!

Unfortunately due to the popularity of Brighton at weekends been almost forced to return to a hotel when we should have known better. It continues to disappoint on so many levels despite its great location and recent partial refurbishment. 10 am check out not helpful or even sensible when entire hotel ships out at this time on a Sunday with one person on desk and the only lift that would be too small for a care home largely occupied by cleaning staff eager to pounce on the empty rooms. Great location on the seafront, but all a bit tired. Very good reception staff, and a bit of a queue to check-in. Our room (101) was very clean, but much of the decor and furniture was tired and damaged. Chandelier damaged with only 1 lampshade. 2 non-compatible single beds clipped together with a non-matching headboard. The bathroom was really quite tatty and for £150 a night room only, we really expected better.

We have stayed at the Royal Albion Hotel previously, and on a subsequent review noted that a few rooms need a little TLC. However, on our recent stay we were pleasantly surprised to find our allocated room had been refurbished. On making enquiries we discovered all rooms had had this same treatment. But, above all this comment we have always found a welcoming attitude and the staff are pleasant and polite.

Returned for a 7 night stay - 04/11 November 2016. This could be one of Brighton's Best Hotels with it's fabulous location if it were completely refurbished. However, it's now a great 3 Star Hotel compared with my last visit - July 2015. Booked a package deal through a UK Coach Company absolutely great value for money on a dinner bed and breakfast basis. Breakfasts & Dinners were good value for money! Hotel offered a good selection of dinner menus through the week with special offers in the B... Read more

The location of this hotel is great, right opposite the pier. The room we had was large , had new carpets and curtains. Great heating that worked. Clean. A couple of bucket type chairs. The sheets were changed every two days and the towels most days. The restaurant was comfortable with many tables for two, very well looked after and nicely laid out. The staff were all very helpful and friendly with nice uniforms. The food choice was good and well cooked. The only thing that let it down was the b... Read more

The hotel is certainly in a premier position for visiting Brighton located as it is only yards from the pier and promenade. The hotel must have been very opulent and quiet in it's heyday but now unfortunately it suffers from being in the middle of a very busy traffic junction and the constant sound of the traffic drove my wife and I to distraction on the first night. After a change of room by very helpful and accommodating staff we slept a lot better there after, though having bought earplugs to d... The room was dated, not too much of an issue, but the carpet was dirty. The underneath of the wardrobe was dusty and filthy. The glass table the tv stands on was filthy with ring marks from coffee cups from previous guests. The gaps in the room door were so big I had to put the bed spread over the door to cover the light from the passage!. The main stairs going to the rooms are filthy and haven't been washed in years. Paint coming off the walls with a note saying " walls drying out".. really?.

For me as a first time visitor to Brighton, my husband & I visited this hotel as a 'pit stop' break before seeing "The Dead Daisies" in The Concorde Club along the sea front. Well, although this is a rather tired stylish old hotel we rather enjoyed our stay. We spent an hour and a half in the hotel lounge having two delicious coffees and a cream tea offer (we couldn't refuse) the sandwiches were plain & rather uninspiring but I enjoyed the scone with clotted dream & jam! Our hotel receptionist ... Read more

Hotel location is probably one of the best. We stayed here for 1 night on a saturday at a cost of £100. A little queue in reception but seen quickly, we were given room 40 which is on the corner of the hotel with a seaview on our way to the room the carpets were filthy in all hallways. The room was freezing cold and had to get the maintenance to come and fix it, the big windows were single glazed with a huge breeze coming in so needed to keep curtain closed, the room was very dated and tv didn... I took my wheelchair bound wife on a 2 night break and booked a disabled room as this hotel advertises that it is disabled friendly, alarm bells started to ring when steps to get into the hotel greeted us, we were directed to a side door with steps and a 2 temporary fibreglass type ramps were placed onto the steps, this unnerved my wife as they moved around a bit too much for comfort. We checked in and we're directed to the only lift to our room on the first floor and entered a room with two si... Read more

Room was very tired. On arrival the receptionist told us that she had upgraded us to sea view. The room was full of old battered pine furniture, which needed to be thrown away and changed. the bathroom had a mouldy smell and overall was really disappointing. On the upside breakfast was included and was reasonable

Absolutely horrible! Would never ever stay there again. Would recommend any other place this is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Rude staff, filthy, old rooms with broken furniture! By far the worst hotel!

Frequently 'day trip' to Brighton but took advantage of 'Wowcher deal' to spend a few nights here; so glad we did!! From Milada (who booked us into one of the best rooms in this hotel!) through to Mohammed (a duty manager that made the time to sit down & chat with us for a while after we'd checked out) our stay was absolutely delightful!! All the (many) staff we encountered deserve an accolade with a special mention to the helpful Chefs who prepared our poached eggs each breakfast - thank you! ... Read more

Not sure why the reviews are so bad to be honest! I stayed for one night and it was the cheapest hotel I could find in the area. For what I paid I was very pleased with the hotel. It wasn't luxury but it wasn't bad... clean and gave me a comfortable bed for the night. Just what I needed. I had a room overlooking the pier, couldn't have been closer to it if we tried!

My husband and I visit Brighton regularly and thought we would try this hotel as it was offering a good deal at £80 per night. We were allocated room 306 after a very busy day of business and travelling and we were looking forward to a nice relaxing bath and chilling in a nice restaurant followed by a lovely lie in the next morning. The room smelled of damp, with stains on the carpet. Both the dressing table and one of the bedside cabinets were falling apart with broken drawers. It was only... Read more
