Stayed last weekend with my daughter 13 and son 17, she had a single room and I shared a double with my 17 year old son. The rooms were clean and the beds ok. The whole place felt devoid of flair or imagination- it was all merely adequate. Very standard fair for the UK, a case 'of that will do' /mediocrity. This simply wouldn't do let me tell you in the USA in terms of for value for money. Weighing in at a hefty £186 for a single and £230 for a double for the night- with a 3pm check-in it was ... Lovely entrance and delicious breakfast selection, however the rooms let them down and had a terrible nights sleep in the small creaky bed that was in dire need of replacing. TV was old with terrible picture, wifi was too slow to use, bedside lamp didn't work, power sockets were faulty meaning hairdryer and chargers kept cutting out and various bulbs weren't working which made getting ready in the semi-dark tricky! Nice toiletries in the bathroom but the pool was too shallow to swim in and the c... Read more

Built 125 years ago you can see that this was once a majestic hotel. The ornate staircase is lovely (I imagine many wedding pics taken there!) and it is located on the beach, a short walk from the train station, the Laines, the Royal Pavilion, etc. I checked in at 10 pm with my teenage son. I had booked a regular room with 2 beds. At check in I was upgraded to a "family room" which had a king bed, but while we were at dinner, the bed was changed to two twins. The family room had quite a bit... Read more

The conference facilities are up to standard but rooms are either too hot or freezing cold. Lunch was of average quality and the dining area was falling apart - exposed ceiling tiles and wiring! Dinner was of poor quality with collapsed soufflé and inedible lamb and a mass produced bog standard dessert. The bar staff were lovely in the evening.

Great location Great restaurant shame that the hotel had no Hhons check in, no room upgrades, no aircon in rooms and windows that only open a couple of inches onto a concrete roof area, late check out wasn't something they understood.

Stayed for one night. Very well located on the sea front within walking distance of shops and places to eat. Room very clean well equipped (no mini bar and bath ) and disappointing view! Bed and breakfast; good selection. Parking was a problem no spaces upon arrival eventually found one but badly located, need to leave the hotel via a back exit and walk down would be creepy if going alone. Overall average disappointed for the hilton brand.

Stayed here because it was on the sea. Didn't eat there because it was too pricey for me. Offered us breakfast for £25.00 each at check in said no and was told it would be £35.00 in the morning. Walked by many restaurants on the way to the hotel and came across many cafes and restaurants that offered breakfast for a quarter of their price. Staff at front desk were helpful. My husband didn't sleep well because he felt the springs in the mattress. Okay place to stay. Nothing spectacular £102.00... Read more

The reviews for this hotel had been a bit mixed and i kind of understood why after our experience there. We chose it for the location and it is very well placed in Brighton and to be fair for the price, it looks fine, albeit a bit dated and worn out in places. The rooms are decent enough but ours had rubbish from previous guest under the sofa, also we had a room for 4 and that was not made up for 4. We asked to be placed on same floor if not next to each other, we were put on 2nd and 4th floor. ... Read more

Treated myself to 3 nights here over my birthday. More than I'd usually pay for my regular trips to Brighton, but I've been ill, & wanted to relax in the pool and spa. Hugely disappointed to find that they were closed for the foreseeable future. Within an hour of check-in I was in my 3rd room... as soon as I walked into the 1st one the noise of exterior A/C units hit me, & I know I wouldn't be able to sleep. The sink was badly cracked & looked awful. No bathroom window, a tiny room with bed... Read more

Stayed here for a couple of nights over the early May Bank Holiday weekend visiting the Brighton Foodies Festival. The hotel is a large traditional hotel with large rooms, high ceilings etc. Had a suite at the front of the Hotel looking straight out to sea. Facilities were great, if a little tired. Comfortable bed and fabulous bathroom. Only real let-down was there was no pay-per-view television as it was out of service which, when the weather isn't great, is disappointing. There was a wedd... After checking in we went up to our room,634. Upon entering we found it to be extremely warm. We opened the window for some air and were greeted by an incessant hum from the air handling units. Off we for our evening at the theatre and when we returned at 10.30pm the noise was still there. Shutting the window was not an option due to the lack of AC, so we decided to go with it. I must say that it did not disturb us a great amount. On checking out next morning we mentioned it to the receptionist... Read more

We stayed for our 5th wedding anniversary. The sauna, steam room and pool were closed due to unexpected collapse of ceiling. We were very disappointed as this was a key criteria for which we selected this hotel. A replacement pool was offered at another hotel. However, thanks to the marvellous DEBORAH DI SANO, we were offered very generous compensation: upgraded to sea view room, complimentary 3 course dinner, and also a free drink with dinner. the next day, we were allowed a late checkout.... Stayed at this elegant, traditional hotel for 2 nights while in Brighton for a hen weekend. Four 'older' hens stayed in a small double (for use as singles) each and very happy we were too. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and, while the rooms were perhaps smaller than a standard double, they were perfectly adequate with reasonable sized bathrooms. The only downside was the room temperature, which was HOT! The windows could only be opened about 6" and there was some noise from an air co... Read more

I booked this hotel for a little bit of luxury and to use pool facilities etc. Un fortunately I did not get either as the pool area was closed and there was no luxury in the room at all. I booked a single room and found the bed to be a wooden slated one with a past its sell by date sprung mattress. Also had to request more pillows as the two provided were so old and had no comfort or support in them. Best to put them in the bin. Staying here again for an annual conference. Convenient for the meetings but each time I come here I am reminded how shabby the rooms and furniture all are. This one charmingly overlooks the ventilation plant and is very warm. If you open the window the building mechanics create a vortex so wind is sucked noisily through the room and out of the door. Sounds like a gale. Not ideal. Shame I can't upload a clip of the sound it makes. Good service in the restaurant but avoid this place if you ... Read more

As Hiltons go this is a disappointment. It suffers from the same problem many of these grand old victorian hotels do. Just so hard to maintain. I had a huge room, but there were holes in the wall all the way down the corridor and wallpaper missing (refurbishing the sign said). The room itself was fine but the shower in the bathroom as tiny and my head was 2inches from the roof (I am 5'11"). The shower was also the slipperiest I have been in and I nearly came a cropper. We booked this hotel during a flash sale paying around £160 a night for a Premium Family room. 50% of our party visiting the area for the Goodwood Festival of Speed we had originally booked a hotel near Gatwick but the sale persuaded us to stay in Brighton instead, where the other half of the family were intending to spend the day anyway!
