Just enjoyed another fab weekend at umi Brighton. The staff are always very polite and welcoming. The hotel is nice and clean and is currently undergoing a renovation in the restaurant and so no breakfast is available. I booked this hotel a while ago and always opt for bed and breakfast. The staff emailed me to advise that during my stay breakfast would not be available and they reimbursed me my money. As the hotel has a fantastic sea front location the shopping centre, lanes, restaurants, bars ... Read more

The single worst hotel I have ever had the displeasure to stay in.. Night staff were abusive, ignorant and something out of the dark ages...I have stayed in many hotels in Brighton all of which superior in every way possible to the Umi.. £219 for stained bedding, damp in the wardrobe, chunks of marble missing leaving sharp edges on the bathroom sink, black stains on the walls... Disgusting!! After complaining that the direct taxi phone line wasn't working we were told "you've got a mobile haven... Read more

this place was a joke from start to finish. under refurb that noone mentioned so the lift isnt working, fabulous for a 3rd floor stay breakfast isnt available in the restaurant but you can have it in a bag. the gap under our door was big enough to servie dinner through and made it sound like everyone in the corridor was in our room. the windows are not double galzed which would be handy considering the clubs that are nearby and the alley behind the hotel where all the clubbers gathered at chucki... Have just returned from a very pleasant one night stay at this hotel. Went to a concert at the Brighton Centre so this location was ideal being so close, 5 minutes walk away. Staff very polite, room large, clean with side sea view. We found the bed very comfortable and slept very well, although did hear noise from street at times, but as we were here for only one night it didn't bother us. There is still a lot of work going on at this hotel and can see why people are upset if they have pai... Read more

I arrived late to find out the hotel is being refurbished so lift wasn't working and there was no breakfast room , i asked for reception to get us a taxi so we could go and eat but it never turned up. The next morning just after 7 i was woken by noise from the room above, after about 30 mins i got dressed and went to reception to see if they could quieten them down , the really unhelpful girl there eventually agreed to do it. After 8 i could hearing hammering so i complained again and was told i... Read more

Breakfast here was satisfactory, but the stay beautiful. Comfortable and spacious rooms with an easy walk from the station. The staff were helpful but could have been a little more enthusiastic. The hotel is a short walk to the lanes and pier and served as a good option for a stay at Brighton.

I booked 6 rooms at this hotel for a friends weekend away. 3 weeks before our stay I wanted to make a slight ammendment to one of the rooms I booked, I was told this wasn't possible due to hotel policy. During my discussion with James the "operations manager" he told me I could cancel my entire booking, he didn't care as he'd resell the rooms. Unfortunately my hands were tied and I couldn't cancel my booking and then, just a week before we were due to stay I received an email saying the hotel... Read more

Myself and a friend stayed here for one night last year. The hotel was in a good location and central to all the sights. Was opposite a club and being central obviously on a busy street. Outside noise didn't bother us. We were however woken at 3am by what we believe were cleaners on the above floor after 15 minutes of noise I called Reception and it stopped straight away. This my only issue! Room was nice plenty of space and clean and we enjoyed the buffet breakfast the next morning. Overall a ... Read more

I had booked my stay here 2 months before arriving. Upon arriving I was told that they were under construction (which was very obvious) and that they were no longer able to accommodate me. I had to be moved to a hotel about a 10 minute walk down the road which was rather annoying to find out on the first day of my stay. Being notified of this change prior to my arrival would have been nice. Surely they are aware of their construction and the number of rooms they will have available far in advanc... Read more

Stayed here the weekend of the pride festival. Checked in early by nice friendly staff the only issue was the elevator was not working so had to walk up to the forth floor. All newly furnished rooms clean and comfy with complimentary gin and sherry. Extra large bed nice size TV and we were lucky enough to have a beautiful sea view. Was very noisy outside until the early morning but that's because it's next to bars and clubs. Properly nice and quiet mid week. Breakfast was delicious cooked and co... Read more

Visited the hotel for one night. Hotel is currently going through a refurbishment. We actually got the hotel through hotels.com as we had been awarded a free night for booking holidays through them. As we were driving to Brighton we had a missed call from the hotel, we rang back to be told that they were not sure why we had been rung and they would get someone to call us back. After waiting we decided to call again as worried the hotel might be cancelled etc and we were on our way. It was to inf... Read more

There were lots of ticks to award on our stay but also a number of crosses. We were made aware of some refurb. work going on. However it was clear the work on this Hotel is currently only half completed. none of the rooms on floors one and two were finished and half our floor (third) was being worked on. I liked the people working here, they were cheerful and friendly whilst dealing with quite a few issues. We arrived to be told the lift wasn't working. They said they had tried to call us to war... The hotel was furnished very stylishly, our room was very comfy, the shower worked really well & everywhere was kept clean. Both the hotel, bar & restaurant staff were very helpful as well as welcoming; it was nice being served by Philip both mornings he made sure we had everything we needed to start our day well & showed real interest in our plans. Breakfast & the evening meal we had were delicious. Our minor disappointment was that the window in our room wouldn't open (though we ended up not ne... Read more

Only visited the bar at the hotel but had a good vibe nice music in the background not to loud and good choice of drinks available at reasonable prices for Brighton. Staff friendly and helpful decor fresh new and contemporary. Cant judge the hotel but if the bar area is anything to go by probably good.

This hotel has all the makings of a great hotel. Plans for a basement pool and the first rooftop pool in Brighton. But it's not finished yet. No air con, no lift yet only upper floors are open, plastic covers on the stairs. Perhaps call before booking to check out the status of the works. Great bar too.

The hotel is still in soft opening phase but bar and restaurant are complete so has everything you need. Can't wait to see the finished product when the spa comes on. The rooms are stunning and very comfortable. Delicious breakfast with something for everyone whether you're being healthy or indulging. Definitely try the marmalade bars! Amazing cocktail list and lovely staff too.

I stayed here for 2 nights on the 4th-6th September with my partner and from reading previous reviews was expecting a great stay, however unfortunately it did not live up to expectation. That being said, there were some good points, the location was great as it is right on the beachfront and not far from bars/ restaurants & shops. Bed was very big and comfy, and decor and interior was fresh and modern. Also liked the tea and coffee facilities. As mentioned in previous comments, the hotel is cur... Read more

As people have already said the hotel is still undergoing refurbishment however the finished areas are excellent. The room had an amazing view with a modern and bright feel to it, with free gin and sherry decanted for a night cap! In the jetty bar the cocktails are amazing and can be made bespoke for you if you don't fancy anything listed on the menu, also breakfast in the jetty had a great choice and was very nice. I can't wait for the spa to open as I love ESPA!!

Our deluxe sea view room was very good - smartly decorated and furnished with a lovely shower room. The attitude of all of the staff was first class - professional with a pleasant manner. The food in The Jetty was of a very good standard - we had dinner and breakfast. It was my partner's birthday - the kitchen staff made a delicious birthday cake and brought it to our table after our meal ( we had more of the cake the next day at coffee time )

This was my birthday treat. Staff good. Room very good. However expect to be enveloped in a "work in progress". Expect no hot water. No electricity. Not ideal if you would like a shower and electricity to dry your hair ! One night virtually ruined. Thankfully we weren't there for a function. So it didn't really matter if we couldn't have a shower till gone 10pm. But not what we expect.
