Hotel was chosen for its location to a Charity Event we were attending [Urban Shift Bolton]. We had read the reviews and were aware of the comments. Staff on Reception walked away to check her hair as we arrived, and when noticing that we were standing at the reception area walked the few steps back and began the booking in [pre-booked online?] 2 rooms booked but only 1 was available and advised I could wait in the bar [?] , when asked for how long, staff couldn't say, then as if by magic the su... Rooms are fairly tired and are in need of a refurbishment. The bathroom was like something out of the 1970s. Breakfast was overpriced for what it offered. Car parking was good, right in the middle of town. Doubt I'll use this hotel again though.

We've just spent three nights at the hotel. Our impressions were positive on the whole. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and staff helpful and pleasant and location, of course, perfect for town centre. However, I felt I must comment on the hotel's policy of allowing some members of the staff to come to work with extremely long fingernails. We first noticed one of the receptionists sporting said appendages which I thought looked rather unprofessional at the check-in but we were aghast and a lit... Read more

I stayed here whilst travelling through on business. A good location to the town centre, and easily walkable. The rooms were of a good standard, and the service was good through out my stay. Parking is a bit tight in the underground car park, so be mindful of this.

Tragic. Shame. Really is. The hotel is centrally located and the staff are lovely. Special mention to Jade on reception who is lovely and great at her job. Booked in and got an upgrade as an ihg platinum member. Sadly the room spelt of pee so they swapped me no worries. (Jade) 2nd room was ok. But sadly this place looks like it stayed in the early 90's. We have stayed here a number of times previously, and would normally say that it is a good comfortable hotel. Unfortunately there was a function on this night, which we would have been better off attending rather than trying to rest after our 4 hour drive, as the noise from the music, drowned out the TV, so any chance of sleep was nil while the event continued (half past midnight). When we complained to the staff, they were unable to help apart from providing ear plugs, due to being fully boo... Read more

Stayed here last week for one night (thank god) To start with, easy to find, good location in the centre of bolton and easy onsite parking. Checked in quickly with friendly staff. The room itself was disgusting. Not just old and in need of a revamp, but absolutely disgusting. I opened the door to be hit by the overwhelming stench of stale smoke. I would give this three stars if it weren't for the staff. They were incredibly nice and helpful. It is an average Holiday Inn -- just what you would expect. But the staff helped us with a very crazy schedule of checking in and out every few days, holding our luggage and doing some laundry at no cost to help us. The rooms were nice, large an d clean. Even the staff that took care of the rooms was nice and always engaged us in conversation. I'd stay here again!

We spent the weekend at the Holiday Inn in Bolton. The hotel is well situated for Bolton town centre. The rooms are standard Holiday Inn, if in need of modernisation. Free wifi throughout. I stayed for 2 nights, the hotel is well located in Bolton centre and has its own parking. In the pictures the hotel looked fresh and modern but the reality is very different. The interior, bedrooms and bath rooms are dated and need to be refurbished to bring up to an acceptable standard. There is a gym and swimming pool but I didn't use them. The breakfast was good. I have stayed here on previous trips to the NW so new what to expect. Rooms are comfortable and I slept well but those awful coat hangars requiring precision engagement do irritate. The main grumble on this occasion was the very bad FREE wifi which the staff acknowledged and said their was a technical fault with their router. For a hotel attracting mainly business customers, this is just not good enough. Breakfast was fine with a reasonable hot buffet but paucity of fresh fruit.
