I stayed here recently for a work conference. I was really worried after reading some of the reviews on here but it honestly wasn't that bad. Yes, it looks shabby, tired and dated but my room (I was lucky enough to get a seaview) was clean. That's the most important thing to me. The food was decent, good vegetarian selection and although the staff were run off their feet looking after 700 of us, they were friendly and polite. To be honest, if you want 5 star luxury it's not for you but if you fa... Read more

As you approach the Norbreck Castle from the south driving up Lancashire's coastal highway the imposing grandeur of the hotel cannot be stated. Due to the venues popularity no parking was available, so we left our vehicle on the road and ventured up the broken glass littered driveway to the guest receiving zone. After a fairly lengthy check in process, we carried our own cases to the Balmoral wing. Never has a section of a hotel been more inappropriately named. Immoral would have been more fitti... Read more

Booked literally last minute, the night before, for an overnight stay. Was pleasantly surprised on arrival to find a huge car park, very unusual for Blackpool. The hotel itself looks a little tired and it proved to be so inside. We were greeted very pleasantly though by the reception staff and dealt with quickly. We booked a double room with a sea. View but was given a family room which proved to be a bit small as there was a double bed, a single bed and a put- up bed in what was really only a d... Read more

Just used this hotel for kids footy tour - great cheap base for the kids to have a bit of freedom. Neil Sedaka tribute act was just quality and had the kids hooked! The bingo caller should be working in Vegas - even though one man with a beard spoilt one game by falsely shouting 'bingo' when he hadn't actually won:-( Can't wait to get back next year though:-)

Superb Las Vegas style hotel which looks even better the further you are away from it. Great for parents who arent really bothered about looking after their kids as they can run riot here. Cabaret superb, breakfast "unbelievable", rooms were tidy and comfortable and after a bit of stretching I could pretty much make the duvet almost fit the bed. stayed here recently for a pool competition, didn't realise how massive the hotel is. The rooms are dated, with peeling wallpaper, the food is like a school canteen but its 100% better than a caravan. Tts a bit out of the way but either a tram or the taxis come within minutes. Depends what you're staying for, if it was for business, i really wouldn't be happy, for a warm shower and somewhere semi comfortable to sleep its perfectly fine. I'll be back next year for the golden8ball.

I was pretty dubious about booking here as I'd read the reviews but we were a bit pushed as, unknown to us, it was half-term holidays and we had not made prior bookings. However, the location looked good, being on the quieter end of Blackpool and right on the tram line down to the centre and to Fleetwood. However, the poor old hotel is way past its glory days and is in dire need of attention. The lobby is tatty and unwelcoming with threadbare carpets, ancient sofas and the dirt on the revolving... When we arrived the lady on reception didn't even acknowledge we were stood there just carried on typing on her computer I thought this was very rude. Then a gentleman on reception finished with one customer and came straight over to check us in. The rooms were basic but clean. Bathrooms are big. Definitely needs décor updating.

I was disappointed that the large room that used to be used for the night time entertainment is now unused, but other that that, everything was fine. If they decorated it I would give them a hig... Apart from outside view of the castle and proximity to the beach, there is nothing going for it as a hotel. Its pretty much a worn-out place - carpets, rooms, bathrooms, pretty much everything. Ok were do i start? Firstly the hotel looks tatty from the outside and inside is no better, dated and the smell of mould. Horrible. It's great if you want something that looks like the set of a horror film. This is before you get to the room. Outside my room was my towel just lying on the floor. So unhygienic. In the room my tv had no remote so had no entertainment especially since the wifi is not available in the bedrooms. The dust everywere was unbelievable and the chipped enamel in the bathro... You get what you pay for, I've stayed in numerous occasions and I have always had a decent room and good service from the staff.. Some rooms are a bit dated, but the ones I have stayed in have been pretty good. I think the staff are very good if I have ever had any complaints they have been minor and have been rectified satisfactory.

Although it's a little out of town there is a tram stop directly across the road and it it only £5 for an adult 24 hr pass and £2.50 for a child. If you have a teenager £3 for a 24 hour pass. The rooms are clean and have the essentials. Yes the common areas need some T. L. C. But for the price you are not going to get 5*. People need to be realistic it is a coach trip stop over and also have a lot of workers staying there. The staff are friendly and polite and there is a family bar as well a... Read more

So I booked this as thought the price was fairly cheap, especially with Blackpool lights being on. I came on TripAdvisor as you do looked at the reviews and was devestated as I have a 6 month old boy and didn't wanna be staying in a dive. Can I just say the room I stayed in was not a dive. It was very clean and from walking into the room you could smell how clean it was and it had recently been cleaned. The beds were lovely and comfortable, it was very dated but I didn't care as long as it was c... Read more

I think the staff at this hotel had been on training courses and been told all the things that staff shouldn't do ! Then decided to do them ! Clean bed linen left on the floor outside hotel rooms ! Restaurant tables without table clothes and wiped over with bacteria spreading blue cloths after each diner , cloths carried in the waiters pockets , yuk ! Waiters wearing the same shirts for days ! Marmalade and Jam in large open bowels with flies around ! Tea and coffee in old style urns , cold and... Read more

Very tired hotel, especially in the communal area's. The room was clean enough but the rest of the hotel is dirty, smelly and depressing. The walls are paper thin and you can hear every word spoken by the people in the rooms next door. I would under no circumstances stay here again. The only good points is the very large car park which is unusual for Blackpool and also the position to the tram stop. This property is quite a way from the centre of Blackpool but it is very easy to pop on an... Read more

Stayed at the norbreck castle for dance weekend. It's a Lovely building and if restored would be a decent place to stay. Cold draughty and the rooms were tired, dated and grim. The food was decent but the place could do with a central heating upgrade damp proof course and a good clean.

Our room had rubbish in from the previous occupant. Filthy needed a good clean. The food was adequate but not as good as previous years. Everywhere except the bedroom was freezing cold, staff behind the bar at night had coats and hats on. Shan't be going again.

The building is lovely but needs attention - The bedroom was okay, although the furniture was tired and dated. The breakfast was very nice and the staff are helpful. The hotel was quite full, lots of people standing in a queue for breakfast. I would stay again but not at that time of year it was too busy for me. The hotel does have great facilities , A Swimming Pool, Cinema and a few bars inside it, of course only being there for the weekend I didn't try the pool or cinema.

We stayed overnight on a Tuesday, the hotel was relatively clean and had adequate facilities. The bed was comfortable. The food was good and buffet style meant we could have what we wanted. The restaurant is extremely warm so be prepared. The staff were very helpful and pleasant in the most part, a great value stay but be prepared to travel if you want to get into town

Me and my son were due to stay for 2 nights with breakfast + evening meal in a twin room with a sea view at a cost of £77 per night. The place looked 'very tired' but i was'nt expecting 5 * for the price i'd paid. We were given a card key to open the bedroom door but this did'nt work. This hotel is a very tired old lady who needs a complete facelift and a lot of tlc. You arrive in the ramshackle carpark, with uneven surfaces and a disused pond?fountain? full of litter. As you trek through the cigarette butts and litter to the entrance, be sure to hold your breath to make your way past the smokers sitting on the front steps. Two huge plant pots flanking the doorway contain yet more smoking litter. Join the long queue to check in. Don't expect more than the most basic of inf... Read more

Had issues with the payment tried to call the hotel service and after 18 calls only abled to receive the help and the explanation as to why they took double payment from the bank account. Where rude and would drop the phone when asked to talk to the manager. Also when finally were abled to explain the issue where put on hold to which then they ignored 3 times and had to explain the whole situation again and now waiting for the money to be placed back into the bank account.

We came here for a cheap weekend break, and after reading some of the reviews I was a bit worried about what I'd find! But it was a nice clean room, comfy bed and it was lovely and warm. There is a tram stop across from the hotel and you can get a 24 hour ticket for a fiver. Tram takes you into Blackpool centre where all the bars and restaurants are. The hotel is a bit rough around the edges but please don't let the decor put you off. I'd definitely come back

However, as soon as we walked through tiny turnstile old fashioned door we found that the place had not changed from the early 90's. the same patterned Wilton type pub carpets but well worn (threadbare in parts, especially the stairs), the dark wood theme from the reception area, throughout the hotel in the rooms and bars completed with chips and signs of being abused. Diabolical hotel, awful food, terrible facilities (which they have the cheek to charge extra for). Tv reception a joke, cleanliness non existent, decor straight out of 1970's and hasn't been touched since. Staff were helpful yet wary! They know the hotel is terrible and they are just waiting for your next complaint! They are well trained but come on Britannia......for the money you charge you should be providing a lot more for your guests. Would rather sleep on the beach then stay here again!

Ended up staying here after a FlyBe flight from Manchester was cancelled. As we arrived, the police were making an arrest and dealing with another man who was drunk and disorderly. That was probably the high point. The hotel is dirty, the toilet in my room didn't flush, the public toilets were stinking. My colleagues all stayed in a room together because they felt the hotel was too unsafe to sleep in single rooms. The lock on their door didn't work. The breakfast the following morning was prett... A lot of bad and negative things are said about this hotel. Yes it is basic, yes it is in need of a makeover; but saying this who goes to Blackpool just to stay in all day every day in the hotel? You only need the hotel for bed and food, which this hotel provides. Also, it should be said unless you stay at the Hilton, all of the hotels and guesthouses are going to be basic. Let's face it - this is a resort that doesn't really shut down. Everybody goes to Blackpool. My only complaint about this h... Read more

This place is like a tardis or timewarp. It hasnt changed in 20 years. Just more expensive. The place is desperately in need of a full refurb. If the owners are reading this, you need to dig deep and cose for a couple of months for a refurb. The place has the same carpet and wallpaper from 20 years ago. The main staricase in falling apart and you nearly fall backwards when walking up it. Not my favourite trip at all.
