I stayed here recently for a work conference. I was really worried after reading some of the reviews on here but it honestly wasn't that bad. Yes, it looks shabby, tired and dated but my room (I was lucky enough to get a seaview) was clean. That's the most important thing to me. The food was decent, good vegetarian selection and although the staff were run off their feet looking after 700 of us, they were friendly and polite. To be honest, if you want 5 star luxury it's not for you but if you fa... Read more

As you approach the Norbreck Castle from the south driving up Lancashire's coastal highway the imposing grandeur of the hotel cannot be stated. Due to the venues popularity no parking was available, so we left our vehicle on the road and ventured up the broken glass littered driveway to the guest receiving zone. After a fairly lengthy check in process, we carried our own cases to the Balmoral wing. Never has a section of a hotel been more inappropriately named. Immoral would have been more fitti... Read more

Booked literally last minute, the night before, for an overnight stay. Was pleasantly surprised on arrival to find a huge car park, very unusual for Blackpool. The hotel itself looks a little tired and it proved to be so inside. We were greeted very pleasantly though by the reception staff and dealt with quickly. We booked a double room with a sea. View but was given a family room which proved to be a bit small as there was a double bed, a single bed and a put- up bed in what was really only a d... Read more

Just used this hotel for kids footy tour - great cheap base for the kids to have a bit of freedom. Neil Sedaka tribute act was just quality and had the kids hooked! The bingo caller should be working in Vegas - even though one man with a beard spoilt one game by falsely shouting 'bingo' when he hadn't actually won:-( Can't wait to get back next year though:-)

Superb Las Vegas style hotel which looks even better the further you are away from it. Great for parents who arent really bothered about looking after their kids as they can run riot here. Cabaret superb, breakfast "unbelievable", rooms were tidy and comfortable and after a bit of stretching I could pretty much make the duvet almost fit the bed. stayed here recently for a pool competition, didn't realise how massive the hotel is. The rooms are dated, with peeling wallpaper, the food is like a school canteen but its 100% better than a caravan. Tts a bit out of the way but either a tram or the taxis come within minutes. Depends what you're staying for, if it was for business, i really wouldn't be happy, for a warm shower and somewhere semi comfortable to sleep its perfectly fine. I'll be back next year for the golden8ball.

I was pretty dubious about booking here as I'd read the reviews but we were a bit pushed as, unknown to us, it was half-term holidays and we had not made prior bookings. However, the location looked good, being on the quieter end of Blackpool and right on the tram line down to the centre and to Fleetwood. However, the poor old hotel is way past its glory days and is in dire need of attention. The lobby is tatty and unwelcoming with threadbare carpets, ancient sofas and the dirt on the revolving... At this point I emailed the hotel for some reassurance .. 8 days later and still no reply! When we arrived the lady on reception didn't even acknowledge we were stood there just carried on typing on her computer I thought this was very rude. Then a gentleman on reception finished with one customer and came straight over to check us in. The rooms were basic but clean. Bathrooms are big. Definitely needs décor updating.

Booked a last minute stay for one night. So glad it wasn't for any longer. The hotel is very dated. After finally finding our room once we had mastered all the corridors, we were left dissapointed. I have to first say this is the most vile place I have ever had the displeasure to stay in, sadly it was very last minute and other options were not available. As many other guests have already stated the place is terribly dated but the staff we're okay, the smell of the place was disgusting and the room was the vilest thing I have ever seen..........sticky carpets, torn carpets, torn curtains, unidentifiable stains on the chair..........I felt physically sick and ended up having several "night ... Oh my. Most of it has already been said. Small room with an opaque window but it was so high you wouldn't be able to see out of it anyway which made the room feel like a cell! Hair and stale urine up tiles in bathroom. The same Rubbish on stairs for our whole stay (3 nights). Carpets filthy and held together by tape. Doors rotting. Fire doors wedged open! And oh that stench! The restaurant was reminiscent of queuing for school dinners, food repetitive and luke warm at best. There was no facility... Read more

My fiancé and I booked this hotel last minute the same night we visited Blackpool, we did it online and it said it was in the centre... However, it's about a 10 minute tram journey from any of the amusements, shops and restaurants!! It's definitely not walking distance! We didn't have high expectations considering it was fairly cheap but we expected more than grubby carpets and bed bugs! Yes bed bugs! We're covered in bites after just one night in the bed! We should have guessed by the state o... Read more

Apart from outside view of the castle and proximity to the beach, there is nothing going for it as a hotel. Its pretty much a worn-out place - carpets, rooms, bathrooms, pretty much everything. There was entertainment such a singing and bingo which were reasonable. The drinks are reasonably priced though. So, I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Turned up to the Norbreck at 10:30pm after previous hotel CANCELLED our booking for being stuck in traffic (still took payment though). First thing you notice is the place is very dated with peeling paint and cracked windows to the entrance and the lobby isn't much better with threadbare carpets and worn furniture. Also when we arrived the majority of light bulbs were out in the gents toilets and there was excrement all over one of the toilets in the ladies. Gentleman on reception was friendly t... Read more

I used to stay here as a child. Such happy memrories, soured now that I see what has become of the place. This hotel is rough! Screaming children running wild up and down the corridors at 1am. Wrappers, empty bottles and pint glasses left on corridor window sills for days on end without being collected. I walked behind a cleaner who just walked by ignoring the lot. Curtains in my room that were badly ripped and my room window was sealed by black duct tape. Someone from management needs to start ... Read more

Stayed here for the weekend and I am shocked at the poor standards. Toilets in my wing smelt of people wee and poo 24 hours of the day. Hotel rooms are shabby and don't even have a small flat screen, just a box from the 80's. There was dampness in the walls and also the toilet rook looked like it was about to cave in as a hole in the corner, which looked like dampness for excess of 5 years plus. Wifi is also bad, even in the reception where it's at its strongest. Had breakfast (£8.50) and it... Read more

I booked this on the recommendation of my friend I travelled with. It was cheap for 2 nights during mid July and had ample parking. Rooms were clean and suitably equipped although would benefit from a fan in hot weather. We didn't eat on site so can't comment on that. Check in was slow and staff seemed to be stood staring into space. With such a long queue all stations should be staffed but a couple weren't. Also they only checked us in for 1 night but there for 2 so room wasn't clea... Read more

My bf's mum and dad booked this weekend for their 49th wedding anniversary. I had read reviews before we went and had very low expectations. There was a dance competition being held and there were loads of kids running about. The bar staff were friendly, the seating area was nice. The rooms are a little bit small but ample storage for clothing. Our tv had no remote but barely watched it anyway and the bed was very comfortable. The food range was varied and tasted nice and as you could help your... Read more

This hotel has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The hotel is disgusting, smelly and filthy. It needs knocking down! The entrance to the hotel is covered in fag buts and rubbish. Doesn't look like it's had a hoover in months. The staff were stressed and complaining to me about other customers. Our room was covered in dust. Only 2 plug sockets and when we pulled the unit out to look for other sockets there was an empty bag with white powder in the bottom of it (drugs). Also loads of ... Read more

Hotel is out dated and dirty and smells like a old peoples home ( not knocking old people) carpets have seen better days but housekeeping think it's ok to put new bedding on floor before putting onto beds you can hear everything going on in rooms above you as floors don't feel very safe overall needs Britannia hotels to either shut down and refurbish or knock it down

Having read previous reviews I was extremely wary about our trip to this hotel. But it is not as bad as some people have made out. With over 300 rooms there can be over 600 people staying here every night and the place certainly wasn't quiet the nights we stayed. Its not perfect or to everyone's taste, it is dated and shabby around the edges but the rooms were clean and had everything that was needed in them. For an extra £2 you could use the pool, spa and Jacuzzi, bargain! especially as we had... Read more

Stayed at the Norbeck Hotel for one night with my young daughter after a bad experience for two nights previous. I booked it on a whim because she thinks shes a princess and always wanted to stay in a castle! And I knew from seeing it years gone by that outside it appears pretty dated and has lost its character which it still is and I was a little skeptical. I was pleasantly surprised and I would definitely stay again. Booked a double room, was very cheap too. For anyone with children I would h... Read more

Stayed as cheap hotel near location needed. Stayed in a twin room which was a reasonable size with all amenities (though the bathroom door didn't shut properly!). The decor needs updating but is perfectly serviceable and is fine for a budget hotel. The hotel is conveniently placed across from a tram station which, although busy at peak times, was cheap and useful for getting around. Plenty of parking as well! Now for the problems. Tried to book an alternative hotel immediately after checking in but we couldn't find anywhere that could accommodate two adults and a teenager at such short notice.
