me and my friend booked into the metropole on the 11th jan /12th jan 2017,i know they are obvioulsy decorating the hotel and that we got a deal of £32 for a standard twin room , BUT the seating in the room had stains on them , the bathroom being the worse although looked very clean at first glance , the cleaning residue was left on the bath and tile.s there was no hot water in the sink and only slighty warm water from the shower, the shower curtain isn't long enough so water went everywhere ,... I stayed at the Metropole with my 5 year old son. The room was clean apart from the windows they were rotten. The inside of the bedside lampshade was broken and the TV was very old with just the bog standard channels which if you have children with you is not much good. They charge you 50p every time you use your debit card which is unusual and £2.00 if you wanted to use a credit card. And also £3.00 to park your car. Which i think is not good at all. Just a few miles up the road at the Norbre... Read more

Booked this as a cheap getaway for my family, 2 adults and 2 kids aged 11 & 17. Dreaded visiting the hotel due to poor reviews but we all had a great time, staff so polite and friendly and a very warm atmosphere .. yes the hotel needs a bit of TLC but some of the old features are what makes it ! Breakfast was plentiful and fresh with good selection .. We will definitely book again :)

Stayed 1 night, and that was enough, the hotel is in need of updating, our room had no towels, the bathroom window was held together with gaffer tape ,the hallways smelt of sewers, you will find threadbare carpets, and plaster falling of walls,we found the food OK, but we will not be recommending this hotel to anyone

No complaints about our room, the Staff, Management or the meals, but seriously it is about time the Metropole Hotel was given a revamp. Our arrival saw a couple of staff members with paint brushes, but even as a pensioner I believe I could have painted more in the 3 days, than the two of them did from when we first arrived until they took the scaffolding down for Christmas. Numbers were obviously down as regulars like ourselves could see, but why, as I mentioned in my last two yearly reviews, i... Read more

Simply go elsewhere. Room on arrival not cleaned even after check in time. Given a second room with no towels. House keeping abysmal. Beds not made up and toiletries not topped up. Room cold. Instead of them looking after you, you chased after them constantly with regards to poor service. Friendly staff but a lot of improvements needed.

I only stayed for one night, and I had a very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and polite, the room was clean, you can hear the trams and traffic outside but it's not that loud, it didn't bother me though. Jus basic room, and but jus right for what I wanted.

Myself and family came over the first weekend in November 13 of us in total. Overall, we were all satisfied with the stay. However, as some of us were partnered up and had double rooms, my boyfriends sister was on her own, on the very top floor in the corner of the hotel where you could clearly smell smoke from smokers. The room was a disgrace and fortunately we managed to get her moved to be closer to the rest of us who were on the 2nd floor at the other side of the hotel. All our rooms were sl... Read more
