The Holiday Inn Express - Castle Bromwich, Birmingham is located just off junction 5 of the M6 motorway. It is ideally situated for Birmingham, Aston, Star City & the airport. Check in is from 2pm. When you arrive at the hotel there is ample FREE parking (which is great) to the front & sides of the grounds. Next to the hotel is a Brewers Fayre restaurant (although I didn??t eat there). When you step inside the hotel the foyer area is spacious, bright, clean & modern with a business centre,... Read more

Been in this hotel while having to go through Construction Week at the NEC. It's not far and the position is not bad, and it was cheaper than others. The room was quite clean to be honest, but they forgot to put the extra towels (we were 2 guests in 1 room). Also the last day I had an early flight, and I asked the hotel reception to wake me up at 4am. They didn't and I woke up fortunately at 4.30 and had to rush out to get the taxi back to the airport. That was a very bad mistake in my opinion. ... Read more

I stay in many HIX and this is a really nice one. Friendly staff and a fresh look & feel to the communal areas. Pub next door and the HIX has a better breakfast than the normal standard - same items just better quality & nice coffee - will definitely be back

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 1 night whilst visiting Birmingham. The only positive thing about the hotel was they had free parking. We checked in, went to our room and it was really dingy and run down. There were obvious stains all over the carpet. It is a pet friendly hotel, but we could hear a dog barking for most of the evening and into the early hours of the morning. The bed had no firmness at all. It felt like we were sleeping on a loosely strung trampoline. Utterly awful. Avo... Read more

Booked this hotel last minute to save doing a whole day round trip picking daughter up from university. Picked this hotel on the fact it had free parking and breakfast included something a lot of Birmingham hotels add on top of the room price!! We checked in at 8.40pm and was greeted by friendly staff. Check in was painless and very quick and we walked over to the pub next door for dinner. The hotel served food till 9pm. We didn't want to rush so that's why we went next door. The room was ver... My wife and I checked in at the above hotel on Friday night last which we booked through Book.com. We used the hotel as our base for visiting a family wedding reception held locally. The room was well equiped and had all usual aminities. But the bed in our room was fantastic. Very restfull nights sleep even though the hotel is near to Birmingham Airport, we only heard some planes once we were awake. Breakfast was self help and was either hot or cold plus a variety of drinks again both hot and co... Read more

We stayed one night at this hotel. Access to the hotel from the M6 is very easy. As was travel from the hotel to the NEC which took about 15 mins. There is a dual carriageway right outside the hotel but the noise from this is fairly minimal. However, it appears the flight path from the airport is directly overhead and so lots of planes taking off from very early in the morning. Check in was quick and simple; reception staff very friendly and helpful. Check out ditto. Unfortunately there was an... Read more

what makes this hotel is the staff. This is a standard holiday inn express, of which I have stayed at many, but this site is set apart from the others, by the friendly, helpful staff. I find my own demeanour and manner improves just being here! I am not known for my restraint when service or standards aren't met, by I find myself more tolerant here, because the staff are so lovely. That's not to say there aren't a few issues, but just that I tolerate them more here! Walking distance to shops & a... Read more

Booked in this hotel on line and found it very easy to book. Staff were very friendly and made checking in very fast. Hotel ,room and other areas were very clean and prestine . The mattress on our bed and those in the rest of the hotel were replaced the day before we arrived and we found it very comfortable . Breakfast was included in the price and there was a large selection to choose from. Car parking is not free but fee is £3 - 50p per 24hr stay.

Came to Birmingham for a wedding wth family. Hotel was ok, easy check in and check out. Rooms ok although 2 out of the 3 rooms had a stale smoke smell. 1 room we were unable to open the window to allow fresh air. Spoke to reception who said they would have the window opened whilst we were out. However it was not done. Ended up leaving it as was very late when we got back from the wedding. Beds ok, sofa bed not so much. Breakfast good. Overall ok stay. However please get Windows fixed so they... Read more

... Is the worst I think I have ever (tried) to eat. I know it is a Holiday Inn Express, I have stayed in quite a few, so I know what to expect. The hotel is fine, clean spacious and clean, however most HIE have a pub, or restaurant close by so a reasonably evening meal can be had. This HIE isn't near anywhere so very little option but to eat in the hotel. I ordered a burger and frankly it seemed to have been microwaved. The bun was hard an inedible and the meat was solid, dry and tasteless. If... Read more

This Holiday Inn Express hotel is what you expect, the rooms are okay, a fine size and still in a good condition. The location is not the best due too way to much noise from the motorway. The breakfast buffet is absolute nothing, so low quality standard that it is better to skip this. Staff friendliness is awesome. So all in all you get what you pay for, the price for the hotel is okay.

We ordered a twin room with a cot bed and a pull out bed , we arrived to a double and a sofa bed , I went to reception and they brought up a cot that I had to put up, we just stuck with having the two doubles which we didn't really want cos I couldn't go through the hassle of moving, hotel was quite difficult to find for us, the sofa bed was horrendous to lay on , weren't enough towels or cups given but as we only stayed one night weren't too fussed , the breakfast was good for choice for a holi... I had to change rooms 3 times because in the first room there was only a tiny stove which was useless, so after complaining, they changed me to a room with air aconditioning. The problem was it was cold as well. Guests are not allowed to change the temperature so I called several times to reception to make them turn it on and when it was on the air coming out from the gadget was cold. On top of that, the windows let the cold in because I guess they are not double-glazed so I told them to move me... Read more

As a priority member I know what to expect and am never disappointed. Room good, AC in room helps as without it does get might warm, even in October! One criticism is over the breakfast, should try to offer more hot choices rather than anaemic scrambled eggs and cheap sausages. Would much prefer to know if they are sourced locally.

If you are going to NEC and need a very reasonably priced place to stay, this is the best place. Especially if you like Jaguars - the factory is just 5 minutes away :) Rooms are spacious enough, the beds have very good mattresses. A good pub is nearby, and there's plenty of parking. Just beware of the entrance, when arriving by car - it's very sudden after the roundabout next to the motorway bridge. Short distance to NEC - about 12 minutes. The hotel bar is not very cosy - too bright, but the s... Read more

Stayed there for two nights due to working locally. Room was ok. And breakfast was just about edible (only just) I stayed in a holiday inn down in Kent for £62 which was fine for the quality of the room. This holiday inn was £85 which is a lot for a what you get.

Booked this hotel for 4 of us for one night and was pleasantly surprised. Although some of the rooms still need refurbishing (we booked 2 rooms) you still get good value. One of the twin rooms we booked had been upgraded and had a controlled thermostat that the older room didn't. The only negatives I found were that some of the lamps didn't work and one of the rooms didn't have a light in the main room, making it quite dark without the table lamps. Breakfast was great considering its complimenta... Read more
