It's quite the building in Cannock, not difficult to spot. It was clearly meant to be the centrepiece of a small commercial development which hasn't really taken off. The same could be said for the hotel. Abandoned by Ramada, Holiday Inn has taken over and commenced a clearly long-needed refurb. The first room I was placed into was unrefurbished and smelled so very strongly of drains it was literally sickening. So a trip down to reception saw new keys to another room. This room had multiple prob... Read more

Arrived late on Wednesday evening checked in and was told the room number. After eventually finding the room I am met by the door already open, which was very unusual. On further inspection I then discover there appears to be something dangling from the ceiling from where the air conditioning unit is kept. When I go to call main desk I realise the phone isn't even connected. I manage to contact main desk and soon after a women appears at the room to inform me the air con is broke in that room an... First and foremost this hotel is easy to spot from a distance but less than straightforward in locating by car. Once you have found it there is ample parking all around the building but the layout is somewhat bizarre. Check-in was slow and not overly friendly. One member of staff checking guests in with several others walking past and ignoring the queue. It was one of the hottest days of the year and the air conditioning was broken! The solution was to offer fans. Really?! Fans to blow hot air... Read more

Visited the Holiday Inn (previously Ramada) today for afternoon tea in the Sky Bar... The service was excellent & the staff catered for our every need. We asked for iced water, additional tea and additional sandwiches & all were delivered courteously and promptly. We had afternoon tea for 4, which included a selection of fresh sandwiches (ham, cheese & tuna), scones, jam, clotted cream and a fine selection of fresh cakes and fresh strawberries. I have stayed here for the same weekend for the last 3 years and have never had a problem. It has recently changed hands and the rooms looked exactly the same. There was no one at reception when I arrived or anywhere downstairs and there was no bell to call anyone, so I had a 5 minute wait before I was seen too. I had a room on the second floor which was large with lots of space for bags/jackets etc. Room was nice and clean with a choice of pillows. The only downside was my room was a no sm... Read more

We were here on 4th June on the 8th floor. The hotel is clean and tidy and the rooms decorated well, staff were reasonably good at checkin despite having a coach load checking in ahead of us. The issues however outweighed the good points. The car park is full of reserved spaces for the commercial units that surround the hotel and non are signposted for hotel guest use. We were then told at reception to park anywhere! I did notice when we arrived in the room that the plug had been placed in ... Read more

Third time in a month (and last) I've stayed here. Previous two were nearly 4 weeks ago. Air conditioning still not fixed. And for good measure kitchen is closed tonight. Feel sorry for staff trying to appease the customers as little they can do to fix it. Awful management by Holiday Inn!! Why hasn't air con been fixed?????

Stayed here as i'd hired their banqueting suite for a charity function. All the staff without exception were professional, supportive, and helpful particularly Sreve and Emma. The event went off perfectly, largely thanks to them! The bed rooms were great, well appointed and immaculately clean, the only thing i'd change is that they had opening windows even if just a few inches as it did get a little stuffy, breakfast was terrific, lots of choice and plentiful well done to all concerned!!!

We held my dad's 50th birthday party on Saturday evening in the Sky Room. The room benefits from having been recently refurbished and it was fab. The buffet was hot, good choice and plenty of it. We had the resident DJ who played a very good mix and accommodated every request we asked for, without the need for pestering. We stayed over which on a party rate is excellent value. Like other guests booked the hotel as part of a birthday celebration with one of the reasons it being chosen was the Sky Bar and the opportunity to have a birthday drink overlooking the area. We were massively disappointed to find out at around 11pm on Saturday that the Sky Bar was closed. There was no announcement of this on the hotel website or at the hotel itself. This hotel offers the full package in relation to being under all one roof! The staff were very helpful and friendly throughout the day and the skyline room was the perfect venue. We celebrated the ceremony downstairs and my only advisory comment would be they need an area for photographs as the car park was not ideal! The sky bar was lovely but was booked up on both Friday and Saturday - not great for a guest trying to entertain a visitor! We had an overnight at this hotel next to the M6. Room was clean and the bathroom was spotless. It was just what we needed. We picked this hotel as this was the cheapest one around the area - couldn't care less about the hotel's facilities as long as it was clean. We paid £49 and thought it was reasonable. Didn't have breakfast at the hotel as there's a large Sainsbury's and Marks and Spencer 15 minutes walk away (or 5 minutes in the car). I'd recommend staying here if you need to spend a night... The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, but that's all. Tge hotel itself has a very budget feel to it, the rooms are very basic and the sky lounge bar has a view of the motorway, derelict buildings and household waste tip ! The beer is expensive and the food is below average, I would definitely recommend avoiding & finding a better local hotel to stay at.

They seemed to not be expecting us. The first meal was chaotic. The breakfast next morning was totally chaotic. We had to leave early, at first no cups, no tea bags, no plates. Breakfast came in bits. Most staff admitted they were very new. We weren't even shown how to use our room key. However to be fair much improved on next day with new manager. Room pleasant but we were told the downstairs rooms were ver noisy. We were on 8th floor and could still hear celebrations from nearby.

This is not an hotel, it is simply a place to sleep, shower, eat and leave as soon as possible. Hotels should be staffed by people who are hospitable and service minded, the staff here seem to be poorly trained wage slaves.
