very poor cleanest, found live and dead woodlouse on the floor of our room which had to be cleaned and put a downer on our stay! However, apart from that was a wonderful stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Not only is the hotel well situated to explore the many delights of Bath, but the surrounding countryside also offers a lot of interesting outings. The spa is a delight, particularly in the early morning, when it is almost deserted.

Excellent Hotel. Location was perfect as it was a close walk to the centre of the city, yet set in private grounds which added to the feel of the stay. The room was spacious and comfortable with nice facilities throughout the hotel.

My stay at this hotel was super disappointing. To start with - the room was outdated and tired. Bad pillows. Wi-Fi did not work in the room, and the signal on the television kept cutting out - not to mention it was an antiquated system. The air-conditioning also did not work so the room was boiling hot in full sunshine. I could not order room service on two separate occasions as no one answered the phone, nor did reception. When eventually room service was ordered, I got charged an extra £5 for... Read more

Beautiful hotel with excellent facilities, even though we had booked using Tesco vouchers we were upgraded to a suite with butler service. The room was excellent, beds were really comfortable and facilities were great. We eat in the Vellore restaurant the first evening and the food was excellent and reasonably priced, the bar drinks were also reasonably priced. The staff were all very attentive, helpful and friendly. The spa was excellent and we particularly liked the outdoor hydro pool, we wou... Read more

This hotel is the nicest MacDonald hotel that I have been to, it's garden is beautiful , the Spa area was well organised and ready to use early in the morning . The bar service was not as good as before , I did not get the bottle of beer that I wanted.

Pleasant clean room with very comfortable bed! Breakfast was delicious but the service was a little slow. The spa facilities made our stay, especially the heated outdoor pool with loungers in the sunshine! Would definitely return.

We stayed here a few weeks ago, the reception staff were fantastic and really made us feel welcomed. The room was nice, The breakfast was really slow we felt, we were sat down and it took around 20 minutes for our order to be taken. I felt that they must of be understaffed during our visit. Overall not blown away and expected to be for the room rate.

An overnight stay for two to celebrate 50th birthday... I had previously stayed at the hotel during the Rugby World Cup and the room and service was not as I had expected. I had the opportunity to stay again and can I just thank Mohammed and all his wonderful staff for providing the most fabulous service and making this a great weekend. Nothing was too much trouble and the room, service and facilities were excellent! I am looking forward to visiting again in July.

The check in staff member was very confused about our booking which was a combination of a corporate and personal stay. We weren't upgraded, the room we had was tired. The bidet was badly cracked and it took an age to get any hot water in the bathroom. As a disabled traveller, it was totally inadequate for my use but we were told the hotel only has one walk in shower (really?) so we could not be moved! Additionally, we were telephoned on Sunday morning asking when we were leaving as the checkou... Read more

Stayed here one night as a guest at a business function and one night as a private guest. On arrival we were met by very attentive staff with a warm friendly greeting. After reading all of the great reviews about this luxury 5 star spa hotel in bath, my partner and I decided to treat ourselves to a weekend away. We have never been so disappointed in the service we received by the spa manager. I have a skin condition and wanted to check that the oils used in the massage would be suitable for my skin. I was made to feel like I was a nuisance and just causing them extra trouble. Surely paying customers should be treated with respect. I was especially disappointed... Read more

Close proximity to the town but far enough to feel like a getaway, we were met with smiles on arrival from the lovely staff who were very accommodating. Kindly upgraded to a suite which made the stay even more special and was a real treat! Stunning grounds, a nice but basic enough spa area, lovely drawing rooms and bar, and an enjoyable breakfast (although the dining room was slightly dated) - definitely recommend and will be back!

Stayed here for a work event and bolted on an extra night. It's a chain hotel but didn't come across as one: check-in service was especially good, the doorman/front of house was fantastic. Our room had a four poster, very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit dated (bidet) but lots of mirrors and Molten Brown products. Lovely shower. Breakfast was good and drinks service prompt and up-market. The walk into town is just enough to stretch your legs, beautiful gardens. We would stay again.

Last night I stayed at the Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel with a friend - beautiful hotel. However, on the way to our room door was left open & at night the ghost of an army general telling us to "get out of my room" and getting strangled. Messages written on the bathroom mirror whilst in shower. At first I thought it was a bad dream until the same thing happened to my friend. Worst experience. Haunted.

The staff couldn't be more helpful. Room service was prompt and the breakfast was locally sourced, vast and very well done. Staff were attentive and lovely. Lovely hotel, location and Bath is beautiful. The Spa treatment was amazing! The breakfast really let it down- no table for 10 minutes, even though we booked a set time, food took ages and we were even asked how we wanted our eggs, but they still didn't get them right. After half an hour we gave up, as we had to check out!

We stayed here last year and felt this time was not as clean or enjoyable. The room was very tired and not to a 5 star standard by any means. When we enquired about another room we were offered one less appealing! Our room had mould growing around the shower and seal. I booked two days at this hotel.27th and 28th June, for my sons birthday. The hotel and room I were ok, but as for reflecting the £270 per room price tag per day. Not one iota. There was nothing luxurious about the tea and coffee giving minimal little packets of milk, it was so stingy that they left us a packet of two biscuits so we did not even have a pack each. External calls to Reception - no answer! This is not a one off and has happened before Arrived at Reception- no one there, only the Concierge who came across as aloof and uninterested. Breakfast was included, but normal price at £21,50 plus £5 tray charge is extortionate for the miserable looking good that arrived! Good points - Room very clean, comfortable and wonderfully quiet. Lovely setting and convenient for the centre of Bath. But there is little that is 5 star about this hotel. It lacks attention to detail in all areas, from morning coffee to invoice preparation. No one to greet you for breakfast, very slow in taking orders for tea and coffee etc, when food does arrive it is mediocre at best for the price being charged. Prices for food and drink here are very expensive for the level of service provided. Would not recommend and not return.
