The location, the facilities, the ambiance were excellent but what makes the difference in Bath City Hotel is the staff. Rarely have we experienced service at such a high level in nearly all respects. As seasoned travellers you get to the stage when hotels are clones of each other, well oiled machines without much humanity. Bath City is different, people enjoy serving you, without being condescending. We loved it.

Myself and my partner went to Bath for a weekend in May for her birthday. We arrived and checked in normally, while we were checking in we upgraded to breakfast for ease and then we could go shopping straight away. We are glad we picked the breakfast as we wouldn't have got a better one for £8 anywhere else, the food was good and cooked some foods to order if you wanted poached eggs of scrambled. Easy to find and situated right in the centre of Bath. Surrounded by lots of attractions, bars, restaurants and clubs. The outside doesn't do it justice at all and looks a little run down for a Hilton hotel but interior looks incredible and the rooms are terrific with everything you could need! Absolutely loved staying here and will be returning very soon!!

The room was delightful - incredibly large by European hotel standards. Wonderful bedding, large king bed, clean and quiet! The concierge was wonderful, recommending a delightful lunch spot. He also took care of a baby cot in the room for our granddaughter - and even put a thick towel in the bottom to line if for us! The expresso machines in addition to the kettle was a lovely touch. The hotel bar was wonderful and the bartender took very good care of us for the evening. Breakfast buffet ... Read more

The hotel is in a very central location in Bath with decent rooms and a very good breakfast, but..... Visit was spoiled by antics of drunken group 'hen party' goers demanding drinks. If the hotel accepts large group bookings then at least staff you lobby and bar area and don't leave the ground floor of the hotel completely empty. Also, why does this hotel not provide a normal key card with room and details printed on it, rather than an envelope with with your room number scribbled on it, contain... Read more

We paid for an upgrade to a family room which was much larger than the standard room with a nice view of the river. The staff was very nice and the restaurant was pretty good for breakfast and dinner. The location is very good for getting around to the sights in town. The Abbey, the baths and the train station are an easy walk from the property. There is a grocery store next door the hotel which had the electric plugs converter we forgot to bring and the hotel was out of.

We booked the hotel for a family trip to Bath given its central location. It is right in the heart of the City and a short walk to all the main attractions. The main drawback is the lack of a car park. You can use the Podium car park located in the same complex but is short stay only and you pay £25 overnight. I could not fault the staff and, in general the hotel is well presented and clean. And the breakfast was of good quality with plenty of choice on offer. We enjoyed a late drink in the bar... The overall experience was awful as your voice was not heard. Can't imagine that there is no service attendant helping the unloading of luggages. For a family with 3 children, this was a difficult task for me. Worse still, the front lane is narrow and tight. Cars are waiting behind yours on that packed single lane while you have to pathetically get the trolley to push the luggage to the reception. Overall bad experience for our family.

I asked for a twin room and got a double bed. The room was very small on the first floor. There were no direct stairs to the first floor and had to use the lift. This got very busy and not good when I was in a hurry. The breakfast was very poor. The cooked breakfast was overcooked and the fruit was acidic, the coffee very weak. There were cake offerings in the foyer and the chef came round to the tables during breakfast offering various tasters. One was made to feel comfortable, welcome and pampered. I ... Read more

The location of the hotel is great. There is a car park (podium) underneath the hotel. Even though it says short stay you are able to park overnight as a Hilton guest as long as you don't move your car (the fee is £25). The actual hotel needs a bit of a renovation. It was quite a tired looking Hilton with very out dated decor. We had a triple room. However we did not receive three towels and the sofa bed was not made up (housekeeping did come up quickly when asked). The main bed was so uncomf... Read more

Stayed here for one night. On check in, the receptionist wasn't overly friendly and did the bear minimum with no guidance to room etc or information about the stay. Generally, a bit frosty. Whereas the couple next to us received thorough insight about their stay and Bath on the whole. The hotel is tired and dated (not in a good way). The double room was v.small and compact. The Hilton Bath City is quite an old property, privately owned but operated under the Hilton brand. You can find a very wide range of rooms from budge singles to ultra-luxury suites (I have stayed in both). The budget rooms are what you would expect from a British hotelier - basically clean, very small, dimly lit, most likely some dents and dings, but clean and a comfortable bed. The luxury suites are high-end but very classic (i.e., not modern), with upmarket furniture, well lit, everything ... Read more

Hotel is in a reasonable location, it was full when we stayed so exspected a large wait for breakfast but they seemed very organised and we had no wait and breakfast was good. So why have I not given this 5? I found the staff on reception at check in, checking out and when I asked a question very unhelpful. I am a diamond member I did not get anything for this when I questioned this I was told it had been delivered to an other room, no offer was made to put this right, the hotel looks a bit run ... We had a fabulous 2 night stay at The Hilton in Bath. The hotel is centrally located in the centre of the city and whithin walking distance to everything, the carpark that was next to the was very convenient even though it was expensive. We found all the staff to be very professional and welcoming, the only issue we had was the wifi as it kept disconnecting.

I had been given this afternoon tea as a special birthday treat. I must admit it was a little disappointing. The picture shown on groupon was actually nothing like the actual one received in any way shape or form. We were given 1 teabag in a huge pot of tea and I had to ask twice for an extra tea bag as the tea was so weak. However the positive was the position in Bath. Very central.

rooms are too small and they should not be on a travel agents list until this hotel proves itself and they have no intercom alarm to speak to their customers as we had a fire scare which frightened people as no one knew what to do and what was going on including the staff downstairs.

What a tired mess! Worst Hilton I have ever encountered and we have stayed in more than I can count, worldwide. Not up to the brand standards. The facility looks quite unremarkable from the exterior, like a typical business class hotel, in maybe eastern Europe. The staff were pleasant enough. They could not upgrade us fully, since the hotel was booked entirely, but maybe gave us a slightly nicer room? Hallway rug and doors were outdated substantially - Oak trim doors and tatty rugs. The Hilton Bath is in an excellent location, near the City Centre and th Roman Baths. The 60's decor is boring, and the food bland. The staff are pleasant enough, but there is just something lacking all round. It needs modernising and a rethink on menus.

Spend only one night in the Hilton Bath. The hotel is located very central close to the Roman bath, the Abbey and all the other highlights of Bath. The staff is very friendly, the breakfast is OK and the rooms are nice and tidy. From the outside it looks quiet run-down and the rooms are not really high Hilton standard. I got an eMail with details about car parks as the hotel doesn't have one.

We paid around £300 for this 'luxury' hotel for one night, this was the first time I stayed at a Hilton Hotel and expected quality, comfort, some luxury, a good night sleep and a comfortable room. I was so disappointed on many counts. The room was small, the bed was very uncomfortable, the hotel felt and was shabby... not luxurious at all. The staff were friendly and the food was great though, which helped and also the location was perfect.

Having spent 3 days in Bath, one night in Hilton Bath, this is by far the worst hotel in my stay over. Despite the friendly staff and a nice reception, the rooms and breakfast are taking the entire experience down. Rooms do not have natural fresh air, no ventilator in the bathroom. Bathroom is full of spots of dirt, hair in the drain. Hardly any waterpressure of the shower. I hardly complain of the soap, even that does not meet up the average standards of 3 and 4 star hotels.

What more can I say. The heading speaks for itself. Check your sheets and pillows before you get into bed and the desk for other peoples hair and dust!! Our seats had blood marks on them and our pillows had fingernail clippings under them. On complaining we were moved to a much smaller room that was also dirty. Hair and dust all over the desk, flaking paint on the walls etc. I would definitely not stay here again.
