The location, the facilities, the ambiance were excellent but what makes the difference in Bath City Hotel is the staff. Rarely have we experienced service at such a high level in nearly all respects. As seasoned travellers you get to the stage when hotels are clones of each other, well oiled machines without much humanity. Bath City is different, people enjoy serving you, without being condescending. We loved it.

Myself and my partner went to Bath for a weekend in May for her birthday. We arrived and checked in normally, while we were checking in we upgraded to breakfast for ease and then we could go shopping straight away. We are glad we picked the breakfast as we wouldn't have got a better one for £8 anywhere else, the food was good and cooked some foods to order if you wanted poached eggs of scrambled. Easy to find and situated right in the centre of Bath. Surrounded by lots of attractions, bars, restaurants and clubs. The outside doesn't do it justice at all and looks a little run down for a Hilton hotel but interior looks incredible and the rooms are terrific with everything you could need! Absolutely loved staying here and will be returning very soon!!

The room was delightful - incredibly large by European hotel standards. Wonderful bedding, large king bed, clean and quiet! The concierge was wonderful, recommending a delightful lunch spot. He also took care of a baby cot in the room for our granddaughter - and even put a thick towel in the bottom to line if for us! The expresso machines in addition to the kettle was a lovely touch. The hotel bar was wonderful and the bartender took very good care of us for the evening. Breakfast buffet ... Read more

The hotel is in a very central location in Bath with decent rooms and a very good breakfast, but..... Visit was spoiled by antics of drunken group 'hen party' goers demanding drinks. If the hotel accepts large group bookings then at least staff you lobby and bar area and don't leave the ground floor of the hotel completely empty. Also, why does this hotel not provide a normal key card with room and details printed on it, rather than an envelope with with your room number scribbled on it, contain... Read more

We paid for an upgrade to a family room which was much larger than the standard room with a nice view of the river. The staff was very nice and the restaurant was pretty good for breakfast and dinner. The location is very good for getting around to the sights in town. The Abbey, the baths and the train station are an easy walk from the property. There is a grocery store next door the hotel which had the electric plugs converter we forgot to bring and the hotel was out of.

We booked the hotel for a family trip to Bath given its central location. It is right in the heart of the City and a short walk to all the main attractions. The main drawback is the lack of a car park. You can use the Podium car park located in the same complex but is short stay only and you pay £25 overnight. I could not fault the staff and, in general the hotel is well presented and clean. And the breakfast was of good quality with plenty of choice on offer. We enjoyed a late drink in the bar... The overall experience was awful as your voice was not heard. Can't imagine that there is no service attendant helping the unloading of luggages. For a family with 3 children, this was a difficult task for me. Worse still, the front lane is narrow and tight. Cars are waiting behind yours on that packed single lane while you have to pathetically get the trolley to push the luggage to the reception. Overall bad experience for our family.

I asked for a twin room and got a double bed. The room was very small on the first floor. There were no direct stairs to the first floor and had to use the lift. This got very busy and not good when I was in a hurry. The breakfast was very poor. The cooked breakfast was overcooked and the fruit was acidic, the coffee very weak. There were cake offerings in the foyer and the chef came round to the tables during breakfast offering various tasters. One was made to feel comfortable, welcome and pampered. I ... Read more

The location of the hotel is great. There is a car park (podium) underneath the hotel. Even though it says short stay you are able to park overnight as a Hilton guest as long as you don't move your car (the fee is £25). The actual hotel needs a bit of a renovation. It was quite a tired looking Hilton with very out dated decor. We had a triple room. The Hilton Bath City is quite an old property, privately owned but operated under the Hilton brand. You can find a very wide range of rooms from budge singles to ultra-luxury suites (I have stayed in both). The budget rooms are what you would expect from a British hotelier - basically clean, very small, dimly lit, most likely some dents and dings, but clean and a comfortable bed. The luxury suites are high-end but very classic (i.e., not modern), with upmarket furniture, well lit, everything ... Read more

I had been given this afternoon tea as a special birthday treat. I must admit it was a little disappointing. The picture shown on groupon was actually nothing like the actual one received in any way shape or form. We were given 1 teabag in a huge pot of tea and I had to ask twice for an extra tea bag as the tea was so weak. However the positive was the position in Bath. Very central.

Having spent 3 days in Bath, one night in Hilton Bath, this is by far the worst hotel in my stay over. Despite the friendly staff and a nice reception, the rooms and breakfast are taking the entire experience down. Rooms do not have natural fresh air, no ventilator in the bathroom. Bathroom is full of spots of dirt, hair in the drain. Hardly any waterpressure of the shower. I hardly complain of the soap, even that does not meet up the average standards of 3 and 4 star hotels.

We didn't complain just wanted them to be aware. However, the receptionist and mangement went above and beyond their duti... Read more

We visited this hotel last minute because we needed a hotel quickly. We went inside Hilton Bath City and it's a big hotel and you would expect it to have a pool like most Hilton hotels but this didn't! We asked to have a room and they said they were fully booked. I then looked at the website and Booking.com and they had rooms and he was giving rooms to people with other skin colours and we knew he was racist. The room was ok and so was breakfast but good for a backpacker or someone looking for a... Read more

4 of us enjoyed a very good "Sunday Lunch" today. Waiter service for Starter & Dessert - Carvery Service for Entree and help yourself to coffee / tea afterwards. We all chose smoked salmon with shrimps as a very substancial starter - it was excellent. At the Carvery - 2 of us opted for the very rare beef (not to everyones liking) but it was just as we like it and the generous slices were delicious. The others opted to have the pork which they both said was very good. For dessert I enjoyed the va... Read more

This hotel is in a great location for sight-seeing in Bath. There is no hotel carpark but a choice of two next to the hotel. All hotel staff are helpful and friendly. Small hotel with small bedrooms and bathrooms but clean. Bar service was very good, as was breakfast, which I would recommend. Bar, lounge and restaurant decor was more up to date than the bedrooms.

We checked in quite late that day but the reception staff was very nice and profession. We were give welcome fruit and chocolate at the reception, provided with Wifi access code before we heading to our room. As we walked through the lobby, we checked the restaurant and the bar and found that it was well presented. The room was a it small but it was clean and tidy. We have no hazel at the time when we checking out the next day at all.

Great location, no free parking but this is Bath...15 mins stroll from train station. Rooms vary, mine was perfect for my 1 night stay, very clean and great beds. We had afternoon tea which was OK, matched price but not the best ever had. Breakfast was good Hilton standard. Would stay again if in Bath as staff so welcoming.

This is central location that is within 10 walking minutes of almost all the sights and museums (train station is 12 min). Room 317 features a view of the Avon River and the Pulteney Bridge. There is shopping nearby and a good selection of eateries. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast area was one of the better of recent Hilton stays. It also features real air conditioning, even in late October.

This is a top hotel right in the centre, 2 mins walk from Pultney Bridge and 1 min walk to the shops. Plenty of restaurants nearby and pubs. We have stayed in the hotel four times since Aug 2016 and have had different rooms. The budget room is really small but for 1 night it is not to fault. We had breakfast included in the room price and that was plentiful and good quality. The parking is expensive as you use the one underneath Waitrose which is discounted but not that discounted. A typical room for England with a nice shower but needed a little bleach in the corners. The sleeping arrangement was fine but the dinner in the restaurant could have improved since the pork was dry and trout small, although had a delicious crab appetizer. The breakfast was ample and enjoyable. The coffee was good, even in the rooms.

Stayed here for 4 nights. Nice hotel, good quality dinner and you can park underneath for £17.50 which is fine if you're staying more than 2 nights (which we were). The main attraction was proximity to the Roman Baths, the Abbey, the market, the open top bus tours and all manner of cafes and restaurants. Bar was a bit small and filled up easily - also expensive. Room was nice and spacious and breakfast was as good as I've had anywhere (buffet). Overall I would happily reccomend this hotel.

We bought a Groupon sparkling afternoon tea for two. We went on Sunday 6 Nov. What a disappointment. Sandwiches were low quality bread. One strange tasting scone each. The cakes were all like mini cupcakes but very dense and unappetising. And that was it! No variety and tea was tea. No choice like most afternoon teas offer. Perhaps they reserve a low grade tea for Groupon customers but this was very poor and the worst we have ever had.

This was my second visit to this hotel and I was very disappointed with the service at reception even though we had proof of booking and payment. We were kept waiting at least 30 mins and the member of staff was quite abrupt with us. Breakfast was cold 3 mornings and I was not impressed with the reply from the front of house manager.

We stayed for two nights in a twin room. The room is comfortable and clean and we had a quiet stay (3rd floor) It's a long walk to many of the rooms from the lifts as there's only one set of lifts. Check in was straightforward and the woman that checked me in was great. Check out isn't until 12 which is lovely. Parking was in the easy car park below the hotel and only cost £17.50 for the 2 night stay and I could have left my car there all day today as well and shopped/explored for longer if I ... Read more

Hadn't been to the Hilton Bath before but had no choice as Swindon was full. A tad longer to get to from the M4 but in the centre of a beautiful City. Parking is ok, I used the Podium underneath the Hotel. Strange token system for settling your car park bill! Check in was fine and as a HH Gold member I was upgraded to a riverside room....just a shame it was pitch black outside. City break to see Bath and visit the Roman baths and Thermae spa. Hilton is brilliantly located right in the centre of the shopping district. Short walk to Abbey, Thermae spa and museums. Even though the hotel says it doesn't have parking, the Car Parking under the hotel is very convenient and is a good price with hotel arrangement.

Just arrived home after staying at Hilton Bath, wish I had not bothered. Travelling with husband and another couple to visit the Christmas Market we opted to stay here because of the location which is very near to the Abbey where the market is centred and the location and staff are the only things going for it really, Although generally clean the rooms are rather tatty, the carpets need cleaning, the curtains really are just a covering for the windows rather than dressing. Reception staff very helpful and stored our cases on both the inward/outward journey. Quiet room, overlooking the street. Very comfortable bed and spotlessly clean bathroom. Kettle, iron, hair drier all provided. Super breakfast - cold buffet and selection of hot foods. Waiting staff very attentive. Would definitely stay here again.

Cannot fault this Hotel, especially as 2 of my days were booked under their 'Flash Sale' promotion, the other 2 were a weekend and quite expensive - that time of the year. Staff lovely and location is the best.
