the location of this guesthouse is wonderful -- just a 5 - 10 minute walk to the heart of bath but far enough off the beaten path to offer peace and quiet. the staff was wonderful; we dealt mainly with amie and she is a gem. breakfast was wonderful; i just wish they could replenish the excellent breakfast pastries but i understand that they're limited by their oven capacity. we stayed on the first floor in the beaufort room. lovely room; comfortable bed, great shower pressure and a beautiful sit... We stayed here for 1 night for our wedding anniversary. The staff were so friendly and really helpful with local sights and places to eat. The room was beautiful we stayed in the Beaufort suite and loved the high ceilings and living room. It was very clean and felt very grand, we even got a complimentary bottle of champagne as we told them it was our anniversary. The staff really couldn't have done more for us and the breakfast was amazing! Would definitely come back

The staff is very friendly and willing to make your stay better. They are also very helpful in answering questions about Bath and making recommendations for dinner. The location is perfect for getting into Bath city center - a 5 minute walk. The rooms are in excellent shape for a 200 year old building. Breakfast is very good. I recommend eating a large breakfast, then you can have a light lunch.

I've just got back from a two night stay at Dukes Hotel and I actually can't find a single negative thing to tell you! I'm always a bit suspicious of reviews that simply sing the praises of hotels, but actually, as much as I'd like to list lots of disappointing aspects of my stay, I just can't! I visited as a solo guest and spent a couple of days relaxing and taking some spa time in Bath away from my busy life running a business in London. Hopefully you'll find this info helpful: 1. My wife and I wanted to spend a happy weekend in Bath. Once we crossed the threshold at Dukes I knew it was going to be a good one. Location of the hotel and room (Beaufort) were superb but the welcome and approach of all of the staff was fabulous. If you get the chance choose a "superior" room and enjoy the space and comfort. Looking forward to going back.

Perfect location, far enough from the busy centre but just a few mins walk away from everything such as the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, restaurants galore! The circus and Royal Crescent were within walking distance as well. Staff were a delight, the customer service is every bit as wonderful as all the guests rave about. If you are a visitor to Britain and you are looking for a taste of Regency England, then this is the one. We stayed on 5th June in the Athol suite which is the largest room with a four poster bed and it was fabulous. The building is Grade 1 listed as a Georgian residence and wraps you in an old world charm. The address is quiet at night for a good night's sleep in an opulent bed but it is only a 5 minute stroll into the town centre. The bells were ringing from the cathedral and a wedding party w... This is an excellent hotel. The staff are lovely and efficient. The breakfasts are very good with a wide choice . (I recommend the smoked haddock and poached eggs) . This time we stayed in a four poster room - Lovely bedroom huge bed with Hypnos Mattress -sitting room and bathroom. Its a quirky old place and the stairs are challenging if you have a higher room but its historic interior forbids a lift. The car parking passes are a godsend in Bath. We stayed on the very top floor of Dukes Hotel. Dukes is a heritage listed Georgian mansion on the prettiest street just a stones throws walk to centre of Bath. Be aware that as the building is a listed property there is no lift, so if you have any mobility issues, do not ask for the top floor. Whilst the views were lovely, the climb to the top floor is fantastic way to improve your fitness. The rooms are beautifully decorated and true to the era of the building. Dukes is the best place to... Read more

A lovely Georgian building in a great location within walking distance of the City's attractions. The rooms are beautifully and tastefully displayed and the breakfast exemplary. Although devoid of a restaurant, there are innumerable fine eating establishments close by.

We had the pleasure of spending 3 nights at this lovely Hotel, and agree with their description, it's like a country house in the City. We enjoyed every moment, from the delicious breakfasts, the immaculate room and exceptional service. All the staff were friendly and helpful, recommending restaurants and going the extra mile. We used a parking permit which allowed us to park almost opposite and were kindly allowed to keep it on checkout day until 4pm. The hotel is only a few minutes walk to the... Read more

We booked 3 rooms for our stay in Bath and enjoyed the hotel very much. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the service and food at breakfast was outstanding. A big thanks to Amy for booking us a table for dinner on Friday night.

Beautiful place to stay, staff could not have been nicer or more helpful in a 5 star hotel!! Nice and central too. Georgian conversion so no lift, higher up rooms cheaper but still really comfy. Max climb 3 stories but Georgian stories are high....

We returned to this lovely hotel as you can't fault the service, the rooms and the breakfast. They are very attentative staff, well managed and helpful which includes Roman (Night Porter) Our stay was stress free, you are located so close to town which helps for convenient shopping but also access to some very nice restaurants and by talking to the staff as they have advise on some of the eateries. If you miss the opportunity to stay here then you have missed an experience.

My wife and I enjoy smaller hotels in interesting buildings with personable staff. Duke‚??s fills the bill. It is in a lovely 18th-century Georgian building with creaky floors and large windows with wavy glass. Each room is different. Based upon previous reviewers‚?? comments, we chose the Argyll room for our four-night stay, because it faces away from the street and is only two flights up from the ground floor. There is no lift. The Argyll had a king bed, lovely period furniture, an 18-fo... Read more

This is a boutique Guest House or B&B which is wondefully well situated for all that Bath can offer. We need say no more than to simply endorse other comments about the friendly and attentive staff, the lovely breakfast and the beautifully decorated and individually styled rooms. You need to be aware that there is no lift and there are a great many stairs if your room is on a high floor - but then the views compensate. Parking like other city centres is by permit. You can pull up at the door whe... Read more

My boyfriend and I recently visited Bath and based on previous reviews on hotels, Dukes was our choice for our overnight stay. And am happy to say it was the right choice. We opted for one of the snug rooms (allocated at the top (6th) floor of this Georgian building) which although the floor was a bit squeaky it was very nice, clean and felt cosy, going up and down the stairs wasn't too bad. Breakfast in the morning was all well set up. They have a good selection on the menu. Staff very f... Read more

Our third visit since July 2016 for various family occasions. The owners and staff are exceptional at making your stay as pleasurable and homely as possible always going the extra mile and the breakfasts are of such a high quality. You will need to ensure they have availability as they have much repeat business which they will certainly have from us as in addition to their outstanding quality they are brilliantly located for the city centre and for the University where our son is reading.

Lovely period building in a great location that's an easy walk to rail, theatre, bars, etc. Our comfortable room on the top floor, very good breakfast and the helpful staff made it an ideal Bath nightstop

The location is great. Staff are all excellent and the building and furnishings are lovely. We had an undisturbed night, everything worked (shower TV wifi etc) and breakfast was delicious. If I were nitpicking I would say the duvet was a little small on our King size bed and the pillows a little flat. However these are tiny flaws and I would certainly go back and recommend the Hotel to others.

Dukes Hotel is located on one of the most elegant streets in the UK. Great Pulteney St. is a wide road lined entirely with grade 1 listed Georgian townhouses. The hotel is approx. 10 minutes gentle ( flat) stroll from the centre of the city. The accommodation is superbly comfortable, quiet and beautifully decorated. The welcome was excellent, & breakfast a real treat. The "team" running the hotel were all exemplary Note that parking can be a challenge in Bath, but the hotel has a number of pa... Read more

I have stayed at the Dukes several times over the years and have always enjoyed my stay. This visit was exceptional due to the comfort of our room and the attentiveness of all the staff. They were all polite, thoughtful, kind and considerate. This made my wife and I feel very welcome and we will certainly return in 2017. Bath is an interesting place to spend a few relaxing days and the location of the Dukes is ideal.

Do not judge this place by the external picture as this does not do justice to the interior, especially the exceptional furnishings. We were very well received, our room was ready early, and we were taken to our suite, the Beaufort, which was exceptionally well appointed. For the time of year we fully appreciated the separate sitting room when coming back to our room, for tea and biscuits, after a long day out. Breakfast has been highlighted by everybody as exceptional and can endorse this. We d... Read more

I was amazed at the friendliness of the staff at the hotel. they did everything they could to make my short stay comfortable. when they knew I was leaving early in the morning, they brought me food to my room - which was great. They showed me my room, explained how to use the WIFi and the front door and did much more than I expect to make my stay pleasant.

My husband booked a night at Dukes as a surprise anniversary treat. Not sure where to start with all the nice things to say about this lovely place. Room was beautiful, comfortable and elegant. Obviously super clean and huge attention to detail, from the furnishings to the robes etc. The staff were so friendly and couldn't go out of their way more to make everything about our stay special. Just returned from our short stay in Bath and just wanted to give a review of The Dukes Hotel as it was just absoluletly amazing Situated in a great location on the beautiful Great Pulteney Street. We were extremely fortunate to get a parking space on the road right outside the hotel, however i can imagine if you came in the evening parking might be an issue. The hotel itself is a wonderful old building, so yes the floorboards might creak and the Georgian windows might knock a bit in the wind h... Read more

Our first stay at this hotel and, bot, were we pleased! The staff were, without exception, 1st class, from check-in to check-out. Spacious room with it's own hallway. Large and comfortable bed in a lovely room with a shower-over-bath en-suite. Breakfast was classy with top quality ingredients. A 3 minute level walk to Pulteney Bridge puts Dukes in the perfect location, too. Not the cheapest, but certainly the cleanest!

Would highly recommend - lovely owners, extremely helpful staff, amazing location and very comfortable, teeming with character in a beautiful georgian building.
