The room was very basic but very clean, I don't think I would stay again but I would pop in for a steak!!!! It was proper kit and cooked to perfection. Good for food, watch the price of the beer as my bill was quite large!!!'

Having our kitchen replaced we needed to eat an evening meal. We visited The Bowling Green In Banbury as it is only 10 minutes away. Having never been there before we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in. Nice furniture, nice and warm and clean! A nice lady behind the bar explained the specials which were on printed posters above the bar and served our drinks. Our drinks were fine, nice cold white wine and a bottle of beer. My husband had the T-bone special. A 16oz T-bone for £20! I ha... Read more

I stayed for two nights in a twin room and ate twice in the restaurant. Lovely people, top class customer service, clean and cosy room, freshly cooked (plentiful) breakfast. Steaks are excellent. Family-run business that really cares. I will stay here again!

My friend and I went here last night both of us hadn't been in many years, it was quiet so the service was fast and Friendly, the food was second to none so fantastic compliments to the chef all round, we relaxed with no pressure to be rushed , the Lady who runs it was really lovely and made us feel very welcome, will definatly not be leaving it too long before going for a lovely Sunday roast.5** all round :)

7 of us met up for an anniversary dinner, the table was ready for us, a few drinks (recommend the real ale brewed for the bowling green) a scan of the menu and orders were taken. Every one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals (I had the lamb cutlets, cooked to perfection) the steaks looked perfect and my sons pizza was too much for him?? The service is spot on, not too much interaction but always ready to help. The décor may not be to everyones taste but the food certainly was.

My husband and I had our 8th wedding anniversary supper at The Bowling Green. We had never eaten there before, but read so many good reviews. We were not dissappointed at all. The fillet steaks cooked to our liking, had superb flavor and were oh so tender. I enjoyed the mushroom and stilton sauce with my steak. I had never tried that and theirs was delicious. Dessert was a treat too. Staff was friendly and courteous. We'll definitely be going back! :-)

Quite an interesting evening was spent at the Bowling Green Inn Steakhouse.... The setting is very dated and tired and looks untouched from days gone by. The restaurant doubles up as a breakfast room for the hotel and has all the accoutrements on display (cereal, cutlery etc.) which detracts from the mood. The wine list is extensive and you can see all the wine chilling in the old school glass fronted deli style coolers. The steaks were very good indeed, well cooked and full of flavour. T... Read more

Had an evening meal here. Although the lady behind the bar was very friendly the place lacked atmosphere. Didn't feel like a hotel but didn't really feel like a pub either, decor tired and dated! The food was ok. Seemed to have quite an array of wines to choose from.

Visited for four nights while working in the area and I really enjoyed my stay, Karen and Phil are just amazing . My room was clean and the shower was powerful and the bar was very relaxing after work. I ate here every night and if you like good honest well cooked food then you can't go wrong. Thank you!

On a journey from the North of England to the South. We stayed for one night at the Hotel. We found the staff very friendly and helpful on check in and they gave us help with our case to our room. The room was clean and tidy and the bathroom, although a little on the small size, was also very clean. That evening we dined in the Hotel restaurant and the food and the service were both excellent. The only thing that was missing in the Hotel was that there was no atmosphere in the Bar area as it was ve... Read more
