We arrived late on as our hotel transfer car broke down and we had to go to a petrol station to wait,we bought food and after around an hour we got picked up, the hotel on arrival the receptionist wasn't friendly at all, no sit down have a drink while I check you in nothing! She was rude, speaking over my husband and when asked for interconnecting rooms a firm no you will have to wait until tomorrow we are full. We arrived in our rooms the person who bought us up said you must be so hungry I will send food up I'm so sorry, unfortunately I didn't get his name. Rooms were lovely but floors in the bathroom were very slippy and dangerous I fell and so did some of my children, rooms were very spacious. We were moved to another room interconnecting which wasn't as spacious but still was lovely. Two double beds for the children and our room had a superkingsized and a pull out bed for our smallest child. Our room had electrical problems and had to get the maintenance man out several times. The walls were scuffed and some areas were not finished to a high standard, there was also mold in the coffee machine. Cleaning staff were prompt and very friendly, there is a button to press to clean your room while you are out. Hotel was lovely some staff were not so friendly at first but as they recognized you more they were more friendly more so front of house in the food buffet area.
The serving staff were excellent especially Anurag,Kulvir,Ashole,Rahul,Nikhil and Gajanan. They made every effort to my our dining experience special and went above and beyond for our families needs. Drinks including water must be paid for in the evening at the buffet restaurant and they are expensive two glasses of wine and five small bottle of diet coke around £70 plus.
Pool area was nice, not enough coverage from the sun and childs pool area was tiny!!! Pools cooled to around 28degrees so I spent most of my time in the pool. The gazebos are nice and shaded but could do with service buttons inside to alert staff instead of having to wave or shout people over, there could also be use of the misting systems as its so hot it really is needed. Bar staff are very friendly especially kumar,Shakir and Anudeep. There are a lot of nannies with children and some of these children are just left unsupervised‚?¶ this needs addressing by the hotel as some of these children were unruly.
Beach was nice but way too hot as was the sea to enjoy it for long, there are also sea activities available but they are expensive. Childrens club is nice but small and children cannot play on the play area without adult supervision, it opens 8am until 7pm, doesn't serve snacks and children must ask for a drink which is fine for older children but not for younger. Nothing to do for children of an evening at the hotel, no entertainment or play areas open for them, we took ours to the mall a lot as in Ras there isn't a lot to do for families. We chose this hotel to relax as we knew Ras was a very quite area and not much going on and wanted to relax which we did. I went for a massage at the Spa worked out at around £200 for 1hr 30mins, it wasn't worth it, I could hear the gym music in the room, went into the relax area to have to ladies phones going off ringing loudly then them both taking separate calls, very annoying. The massage it's self wasn't of a high standard either, I have a lot of massages and it didn't leave me relaxed and the technique wasn't the best. You got very small snacks, three slices of small pineapple and a juice drink to start then afterwards small blob of yogurt, some honey and a slice of strawberry, two blueberries and raspberry with a cup of herbal tea. There were snacks on the side of whole apples and walnuts one half eaten apple left on the side which wasn't moved for quite some time. The gym was of good standard and we used it, one day having to listen to a man asking a lady trainer to squat,do sit ups and press-ups etc as he didn't see it right the first time this went on for several minutes and I could see she wasn't comfortable with it, he was being very suggestive and looking at her inappropriately, she handled it very professionally, I suggest you have male trainers to deal with male patrons in future as myself and my young daughter had to witness this and left me very angry!
Drinks are expensive as is food, but as we were half bored we didn't mind as we had factored this in. We took two of our children to have their hair cut both boys this cost £70 each and was extortionate amount, even for Tony and Guy. We went to the peacock lounge sat down with a nice drink each and then had a lady with five or six very small children use the table next to us to allow her children to climb all over the table, chairs and my head to see the fountain while she walked off and sat a fair distance away, these children ran around making a lot of noise at around 9.30-10.00 at night, we drank up quickly and left. There is also complimentary bottles of water by the pool and in the room, sometimes can taste a little odd. The buffet is a wide range, some gluten free products and some organic, one or two days myself and children did feel off but put that down to the fact that the food is very rich. We paid for a hotel transfer into Dubai for the day as the cost to hire a car and child seats for our family was around the same, this also was very expensive but the driver was lovely, Dubai mall was an amazing experience and a must try as was the burj khalifa but again both expensive in some areas (£60 for a family photo in the burj khalifa)
Would I go again? Yes loved it,some points with staffs conduct needs addressing like arriving late because your hotel car failed and not being offered a drink on arrival late at night or being asked to sit down while you check in with five children tired etc the check in took a very long time also and she didn't ask us if we wanted food. I wouldn't use the spa again as it wasn't worth the money nor did it feel very luxurious, hairdresser too expensive. Staff front of house need to be as welcoming as the staff who wait on people. Children running around with parents not supervising I have five and am aware they can get giddy but some of these children were just left either by parents or nannies, maybe a special child zone could be created with fun things for these children to do in the evening, so they are not running around disturbing the other patrons. Well worth going half board as it would be very expensive. There is also a daytime and evening babysitting service and all staff are fully security checked, I didn't use this service, so can't comment on it. We enjoyed our stay not everything was perfect, this is to be expected and hasn't put us off returning. You can get an app or a book from whsmith called the entertainer it has all special offers and vouchers in for trips, clubs, food etc.
