We arrived after a long flight from Perth to be told we'd been upgraded to a suite. What a great start and the suite was sumptuous, comfortable and spacious. Everything from the choice and quality of the breakfasts, to the pools both outdoor and on the top floor, to the free shuttle bus to the Dubai Mall, made our stay just perfect But it was the staff, always smiling and courteous, willing to go the extra mile for a fussy 12 year old, that made this one of the most enjoyable hotel stays in... Stayed for 5 days in May. Very fast check in and early also, 10am no problem. Welcomed to use breakfast while my room was prepared immediately. Great pool outside and indoor pool on 42nd floor also. Nightlife good at the outdoor pool which is open to midnight, and room impeccably clean. Gym and spa services very good, and free also. Would advise anyone to get the horizon package. It's very good value - includes breakfast and complimentary snacks all day. Free shuttle into Dubai mall and return... Read more

What a fantastic hotel. Our little boy was ill and the staff couldn't do enough to help us and be flexible with room and services. Fantastic luxury. Pools amazing. More of a business hotel than holiday destination hotel but the facilities and services are fantastic. We stayed 1 night to break up a trip to one of the islands.

Good hotel. Located at Northern end of the city so a bit of distance to Palm Jumeirah and Jumeriah beach. Service was ok. I stayed in the Horizon Club suites and although the room was very comfortable and well appointed the additional club, bar and breakfast area were not that special. The breakfast / bar area was very small and you needed to get in early if you wanted a table. I've stayed in many Shangri-La Resorts and the service here seemed below par compared to other resorts. We arrived early off a cruise ship and they were able to put us in the room right away (around 10 am). Wonderful large room with sweeping views of Burj Khalifa and all other interesting buildings up and down Sheik Zayed Road. We had a very late flight the next day, and they were very generous in extending our checkout time to 3pm. When we arrived we were met at the door by a lovely woman who walked us to the check-in counter and checked us in. She was a font of information about the hotel, t... Read more

We stayed for a 2 night stopover last month, only wish we'd had more time here. Room nice and spacious with a fantastic bed and views over the city and out to sea. We were only on the 27th floor so I coped with that! Booked myself a studio apartment. The hotel staff were very attentive and nice. Check in was swift and easy. The room was nice but a change in a few things such as the chairs and the colour of the wardrobe doors would make the rooms look so much better. The bed was better than expected, super soft. I don't really have anything bad to say about this place as my stay was short, but overall it was pleasant and cant fault it.

Been here quite a few times. One of my favorite dubai hotels. It's not a new hotel. But it's kept in such good condition you'd think they'd just opened. Over the years the place has grown on me. I like the location for business trips. As it's central enough for me. And not too far from the Exhibition center. All the taxi's know the hotel. So they don't get lost, like when going to other places. The food is always very well made and presented. I'd

This was a weekend trip out of another area in the region and wanted a nice place with a lounge and spa. I found the Shangri-La on a booking website and the description matched exactly what I wanted as well as painting a nice picture. 100% match and more. Great staff, beautiful building, good food, and excellent spa. As long as I can continue to find the rates I was fortunate enough to get on this trip, I will stay at the Shangri-La every trip to Dubai.

We selected the S-La for a 36 hour stop-over in Dubai. As we had little intention of venturing into Dubai during our stay, we based our choice on the hotel brand, the price, and the Horizon Club ("H Club") benefits. Upon arrival we became immediately aware of the Reception Lobby refurbishment, so the arrival is somewhat underwhelming via a cramped entrance and lift lobby to get to (temporary) Reception on the 3rd Floor. When the desk staff realised that we were H Club guests, we were sent to... Read more

Of course I made it clear to the reception that I was unsatisfied and all they offer is to extend the check out from 12 pm to 2 pm!! How generous of you. I stayed in the hotel apartments for two weeks in July 2016 on business. Overall Impression The hotel definitely needs a refurb and new décor ?? I got a decent rate for the hotel, which was my motivation for staying there, coupled with knowing the reputation that the Shangri-La has. My recent experience with Shangri-la Dubai was a disappointing as my room was not up to standard as of my exception. The room was dusty, Spoons were sticky and the Glasses were with stains. I had seen the room attendant only one time as i can remember she seems to be Solo Asian looking wearing glasses. As i stayed for only 3 nights i had no time to meet any superior to inform about it..and she was not even bothered to check my experience so unpleasant. I ask her for couple of water bottles to be... Read more

The 4th time I come to this hotel and the renovation process made me hate everything. I would recommend the hotel to close until they finish the renovation and then reopens. Staff didn't pay any attention to this and no one offered any thanks or excuses.

We stayed 5 nights and while the hotel was undergoing renovation this did not inconvenience us at all. The usual standard of service, cleanliness and attention to detail that Shangri-La is well known for was still there. Our room was spacious, light and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was also spacious with bath, shower, plenty of towels and toiletries. Breakfast has plenty of choices with very attentive staff. We enjoyed talking to the chefs who were very proud of their dishes. I will hav... Read more

Stayed there for business: - Very centrally located - Rooms are clean - Staff is helpful friendly - Pool area is nice and not to crowded - Bar food and drinks extremely overpriced also in comparison to other 5 star hotels - Taxi pick-up takes time due to parking situation Overall a good stay will come back.

Lovely to have dedicated car from the cruise port to the hotel and be greater by name as we left the car! We were taken directly to our 36th floor room! Great experience seeing the Burj Khalifa out our windows! Room is quite spacious and the bathroom, especially the shower! A real treat after 24 day cruise! Breakfast offers eggs and or quite an international spread! Off site seeing and can offer a suggestion: for taxis, ask if the driver will accept US dollars. Had quite the scene with one who d... The staff at this hotel were amongst the best I have ever experienced. The cheery receptionists, the understanding room cleaners, the helpful concierge, the attentive waiting staff, the super efficient pool guards, and Sarath the wonderful Chef. The hotel itself was undergoing a refurb so wasn't at it's luxurious best, however these people made this irrelevant... A truly wonderful stay.

A luxury home away from home. Stayed at their apartment suites for my birthday. Was met with a 100g birthday cake and birthday card. Had an amazing view of the Burj Khalifa (make sure you ask for a suite with a view). Great amenities (shampoo, conditioner). 50' tv screen with great movies, free water (always topped up) and convenient kitchen & utilities. Cleaning staff were unbelievably courteous! Majority were oriental-Asian, which is great. They were almost as welcoming as you would imagine i... Read more

I've been visiting the Shangri-La Hotel in Dubai since 2007, mainly as an outside guest of the health spa and pool while rresident in Dubai till 2014. I love the stylishness and décor of the hotel, combining the best of Asian and Western styles harmoniously. I stayed at the hotel last Saturday and Sunday and was really looking forward to my stay. When I arrived I was not pleased that the lobby area and what was the ground-floor Dunes Café were still being renovated - behind the scheduled comp... Read more

Spent 5 days at the Shangri La....LOVED every minute of it. The staff through out the hotel are amazing and extremely kind, attentive & extremely helpful!! We had a room with a view of the Burg Kalifa and it was amazing!! The morning breakfast buffet was excellent and caters to all. The location of the hotel is close to all attractions. Taxis are always available for your service. They do have a shuttle that takes you to the Dubai mall that runs hourly which is a great asset. Love, love it here... Read more

While we had a nice and large room with amenities and a beautiful view over Jumeirah and the sea, the following items were below average: 1. Internet insufficient. Weak, hardly usable. For a business traveller like me, a reason to not book this hotel again. 2. No sockets near the bed. I never had such an issue ever in a so called 5 star hotel in the UAE. Bottom line: with the choice that one has in Dubai, Shangri-La is no longer on the top of my list.

Water restocked in the fridge every day and fresh fruit in the room. All the staff were polite, pleasant and extremely effecient. Went out if their way to be helpful. This was a great place to stay in Dubai. The staff of the Shangri-la were attentive, courteous and went out of their way to be of assistance. Our room was well-appointed, clean and welcoming, with fresh fruit and bottled water provided every day. The free shuttle to Dubai Mall was a terrific service that ran regularly and was always punctual. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would return.

Let me start by saying I would not stay here again. Is the Shangri La a bad hotel? Not at all, but it does not deliver on a truly 5 star experience, so in actual fact, it does not meet expectations. The hotel is still under refurbishment and not even the front entrance was open which made it for the worst arrival to any hotel in my life - through the back door. There is no real public area to hang around in and had I not stayed in a Horizon Club room with access to the lounge, I would have fel... Read more

I would not stay at this hotel again, I do not believe it is worthy of 5 stars and I've stayed in a lot of 5 star hotels all over the world! We had arranged airport transfers, we were collected from the airport in a nice enough car and the member of staff was friendly enough. It all goes downhill from there. We arrived at the hotel and were taken to the back door, we were taken straight up to the Horizon Club floors where we were checked in, in our room. I mean I know a lobby is just a lobby b... Great location for business as it is easy to get to Bur Dubai, Debra and Dubai Marina areas. Lovely hotel, great location and convenient local location to Metro, a supermarket at the back across the road as well as other restaurants close by. Check in was very long and arduous but to be fair the hotel is currently renovating and offers 24 hour check in. Just check before you arrive that your room will be ready. Only downside was the nightclub on the Roof on a Thursday and Sunday night with doof doof music till 2am.

As we stayed in The Shangri La in Istanbul earlier this year, we thought we would try it here. The overall feel isn't as grand, although not having the entrance lobby complete doesn't help. Speaking of which, the website says that the renovations are until mid November. We stayed 18th to 22nd are they are still ongoing and look like they will be for a while. Stating mid November, w... I stayed at the Shangri-La in Dubai in Nov 2016 for a work trip. The hotel was completing a refurbishment. I was not impacted by the work going on in the hotel at all. Rooms are very spacious. Very comfortable beds. Huge bathroom with bath and separate shower. Plenty of cupboard space. Well located in downtown Dubai. Close to public transport which is very easy to use. Stayed there for a few nights. Deco is Arabian theme and posh. I got a room that has the burj kalifa view, but slight slanted. Location is also near to the metro station, just within 5 mins walk. It is very convenient. The view is good, at one side it faces the sea, the other side it faces the city. Service is good, but ordinary 5 star.

Dig deep and then go even deeper, you will be hard pressed to find any fault with this hotel. Shangri-La is a fabulous location in the heart of Dubai, easily located and within close walking distance to the metro (which can take you anywhere), but also very near to Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa.
