This old-school venue is tops for seeing local and national bands
Nightlife Details The building that houses The Great American Music Hall was built as a symbol of urban renewal after the 1906 earthquake, and has gone through several incarnations in it's lifetime. The GAMH opened in 1972, and has seen the likes of Duke Ellington and Count Basie, to Van Morrison and The Grateful Dead grace it's stage. Locals claim it is the best venue in town to see bands, and it has an old-school glamour feel to it that evokes memories of it's grand history.
