Attractions Details Cabrillo National Monument commemorates explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillos first landing at San Diego Bay on September 28, 1542. Cabrillo was the first European to visit what is now the West Coast of the United States. From Cabrillo National Monument you can witness the amazing view of San Diego Bay to the downtown skyline and right along the coast to Mexico. At the highest point of the park stands the Old Point Loma Lighthouse which has been a San Diego icon since 1854. There are a variety of entertaining activities that guests can participate in at the Cabrillo National Monument.
