Restaurants Details
The Corvette Diner in downtown San Diego is a rocking retro diner that entertains adults and children alike. The Corvette Diner has everything you would expect from a 1950’s diner from hamburgers and onion rings to poodle skirts and gum-popping servers. The burger-heavy menu, chocolate malts and huge sundaes are sure to please everyone. This is the ultimate family-friendly restaurant with huge portions at great prices, and nightly entertainment that includes DJ’s, magicians and the Balloon Guy.

"This place is great. I took my daughter to a birthday party there and its environment is great! Very family inviting and fun. The overall theme of a 50's diner is great :)"

"This restaurant actually caused me to create a new dining rule for myself: I will NEVER eat anywhere where patrons take pictures inside the restaurant! If you think about it, this makes sense. Tourist trap "theme" restaurants tend to have slow service, indifferent employees, loud environments, and average (at best) food (e.g. - Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood, Rainforest Cafe, etc.) If people are taking pictures inside, they must not be there for the food, and after eating at the Corvette Diner, I can verify that. The garish decor is meant to evoke the golden age 50's diner, but really just combines with the blaring music, constant PA announcements ("GUESS WHO'S HAVING A BIRTHDAYYYY!"), and overpriced food to make for a draining, exhausting, and unsatisfying experience. (And NO, I am not OLD or averse to fun.) When someone in our party asked how the shakes were, the waitress barked, "I dunno, IT'S A SHAKE!" We waited 1 hour to be seated (on a Sunday nite), then another 45 minutes for our food AFTER ordering. My nine year old summed it up a month later when we said we were going out to dinner and she said "PLEASE, NOT the Corvette Diner!" I smiled and said "Why not?" "Because it's loud, it takes forever to get your food, and it doesn't taste good." Sums it up pretty well."
