We stayed here for 8 nights after researching and reviewing the area for somewhere a little quieter than Phuket. The hotel breakfast was plentiful and offered a wide range of options. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the hotel, There was also an option to choose a mattress toper if you felt the bed was too hard. I booked this resort via Luxury Escapes Website and am completing a 8 day stay tomorrow. We stayed at Sentido Resort a few months ago and decided we like Khao Lak as it is quiet and restful away from the craziness in Phuket. As this resort is older, the rooms are not as nice, (being a bit older), but terrific value while being roomy with room service available 24 hours a day, and serviced by housekeeping daily. We did not have a terrifically placed room, (Room 226), so we did not have an ocean ... Read more

We are about to head home today after another wonderful stay at the Mai Khao Lak and all we can say is that we've had another wonderful stay. Some people question the resort's 5-star status. If you are to rate a resort on it's overall experience, this one is 5-star. The staff are some of the most wonderful, kind people you'll ever be blessed to meet. Nothing is a bother and they always make you feel like royalty. I can't wait to see the new extensions which I think open at the end of this month.... Read more

Mi Khaolak Resort & Spa is a great location for relaxing on holiday. Not only are the facilities welcoming and comfortable, the staff are all friendly and eager to help. The service, above all, is excellent. The Resort is right on the beach.

We had a wonderful holiday at mai khaolak with a luxury escape deal. At first we weren't so impressed with the room as it had a musty smell and didn't seem to be a 5star resort as is a little tired. The staff soon gave our room a deep clean to rid the odur and made up for it by being so welcoming friendly and helpful. The pool and grounds were lovely. They had a lovely lady "bee" on a tour desk each day who gave great advice on things to do and could book us in with tours. Toy in the main res... Read more

We have a young family (6&7 yr old) and we loved every minute of this stay. Very family friendly, lots of other kids around the pool and we purchased a well used blow up turtle, who is now on his way back to OZ. Very safe, hygenic and friendly resort, would definately recommend to other families. Staff are brilliant. Kids are now breakfast buffet experts!! Thanks for the wonderful memories for our first overseas holiday with the kids.

I am just finishing a 8 day stay at this hotel. This is our 4th trip Thailand and We booked the deal via luxury escapes but upgraded after our first day to a pool villa. The upgrade was double again what we had paid originally bringing the cost to almost $3500 AUD or 85,000tHB for the 8 nights which was fine (although at those rates your expectations rightly increase) but as soon as we moved to the villa the long list of issues started. After repeated issues I asked to speak with the manager In... Read more

Recently we stayed at the resort on a luxury escape as the locals call it "woucher". We stayed in a pool access room and it was fantastic. The spa was great and the staff were very professional. The pool was sensational, a pleasure to swim in. The breakfast was to die for with everything you could think of. They had Vegemite for us Aussies.

After a week in crazy Patong, Mai Khao Lak was so quiet and relaxing! We have stayed at their sister resort Mai Samui the year before and although this resort is not as exclusive, it offered everything we needed. We stayed in a pool access suite & loved the convenience although kids all shared the one bed so if you have more than 1 older child, you might want to look into a connecting room. Staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. Thank you to Wanida and Mr Toy who always went out of th... Read more

The resort is not 4,5 stars , but lower.. Location is very lonely and very far from airport. Meals were not tasty. Swimming pools are not cleaned properly. The real look is much worse than from the website pictures. The room is ok , but drainage was stopped , and it took over 2 days until they have repaired. The management does not care about customers complaints, especially Henrik Bergqvist, the general manager was extremely arrogant, when we tried to talk to him.. We don't advise this hotel .

The resort is about a 10 minute drive out of the nearest town but there is a shuttle that runs from the resort to the town a couple of times a day. I enjoyed the spa treatments which were included in my package and having a private beach for the resort. The staff were very friendly and were always happy to fulfill any requests. The resort itself needs some TLC but they are adding a new section of accomodation due to open in November.

Don't believe all you see on the website they have an optimistic marketing department ...We have managed to draw the crappy weather straw so you get to see it for what it is, a weathered, leaky poorly maintained building. This is not 5 star accomodation, nor is it remotely 5 star service - staff are friendly but poorly trained and quaintly random if you are into miscomunication, misinterpretation and blank looks this place is for you. A waterproofing contractor will see enormous potential (for b... Read more

Very mixed stay at Mai. First the positives - great pool area and swim up pool bar. We had a pool access room and it is essential to really enjoy yourself if you have young kids. There is mixed depth areas so kids at 3 years old have a spot, as well as the older single digit kids too. The prices of the food and drinks were also great value for a resort and the new area (although not opened for another 3wks after we left) looked great for young families. Some great staff to look out for are Wanid... Read more

Like most people, we bought a package through a group deals website. We had a 10 night stay, in a pool access room (highly recommended). The resort is perfect for families. Our 2 children (aged 8 and 5) loved this place. They have a kids club, which is pretty basic, but the kids were happy enough to spend a couple hours in there, and were happy to return again other days. The buffet breakfast each day is totally amazing and has everything from asian, pastries, fruit, yogurt to bacon and eggs. Th... Read more

We went to the resort with our toddler, and enjoyed every minute. The resort looks beautiful, and have facilities to cater to all types of travellers. The beach is as good as private, clean and easy to access. What caught our attention, was that there were actually hotel staff on the beach helping put out beach beds and with towels. The hotel actually keeps a basket with beach mats and towels to take to the beach. Breakfast buffet has plenty local and western options. The staff are very frien... Read more

My family and I holidayed at Mai Khao Lak using a luxury escape voucher which was tremendous value. Although it rained and rained AND rained...we still enjoyed ourselves. My daughter is in a wheelchair which was a bit of a challenge for us to get her to the pool or down the beach. Access was quite easy to the pool etc. but the path was bumpy and effort ++ was required to push her chair. Enjoyed the rooms and the only derogatory thing I could say is that the chairs on the balcony were 'bloody unc... Read more

Had the pleasure of staying at this resort for a few days on a recent holiday to Phuket. What a lovely resort which will only get better once the new section is completed. Very family friendly but also lovely for couples. Stayed in an amazing Deluxe Villa which was beautiful. The resort also has 3 nice restaurants. The staff were incredibly nice and very helpful. Great place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Phuket.

We had the pleasure of staying at Mai Khao Lak resort for an 8 day luxury escapes voucher, which turned out to be tremendous value. The food was gorgeous with a great variety of dishes available at the buffet breakfast. Other meals we had at the resort were all lovey also. The beach is just at the back of the resort, a short stroll from the main complex, and had its own restaurants and massage places that were unbeatable value, and we enjoyed a lot. What Mai lacks in plush facilities it certainly makes up in service, atmosphere and friendliness. The rooms are spacious and kept very clean. A few things that we noticed on our very late arrival were all sorted by morning. The resort has two large pools, one in the middle of the resort and one near the ocean. The dining options are varied, the breakfast buffet is large and plentiful. There is a Thai Cafe serving good quality Thai, although if you like spicy you need to ask. By the pools they se... I can see this resort becoming 5 star, though for the length of stay (18 nights - Oct through to Nov) we were torn between 4 star experiences and the construction going on during this 'shoulder' period. Ignoring all construction, no matter how huge, and taking into account you get charged a tonne, comparatively, for laundry this place has the works! For a family. Even a new one. For Laundry try: Krua Thai a short walk, or shorter moto ride away, does 50 bht per kilo. Having bought the equ... Read more

Booked this hotel through Luxury escapes and my expectations were exceeded. Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, pristine beach frontage, heaps of things included. About an hour and a half North of Phuket airport, but an easy drive with plenty of scenery along the way. Nothing to fault. Highly recommended. Beds very hard.

We are staying in the new part of the complex the accommodation is first class a separate lounge bedroom with the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in, on holiday, first class bedding as well. The bathroom let it down for us as there was no walk in shower, and I have problems with my legs. The breakfast is very good so long as you don't want eggs there's only one lady cooking them and she cannot keep up with the orders. It took over 30 minuets for two omelettes to be cooked. It would also... Read more

My wife and I stayed at the resort during the last week of October. The first three days were wet thanks to a monsoonal hangover but the last five days were sunny, humid and warm. The restaurants are good with a great variety of food and the beach is comfortable with day beds and towels. There are also a number of external places for meals, massage... Read more

If you are a couple on honeymoon or seniors, I would encourage you to look for hotels in the surroundings who are also excellent, unless you are joining other family members who have kids. This hotel is the best Thai island experience while remaining super child friendly. We stayed for nearly a month, first in the rooms and them the villas. The experience can be completely different. We had the pool villa and it was just great, the room, the pool, the service, vicinity to beach, to great eateri... Read more

We are currently staying at Mai KhaoLak Lak resort, have been here a week and have one week left. My feelings for the resort is mixed. Firstly, if you don't have kids - don't go here. This is a pure family with kids location! The resort it self is very beautiful and the different pool areas are great too. The sand pool for the kids is huge and with different kind of water slides - my 3,5 year old just love this place! The best thing is that the whole pool isn't very deep so the kids could be ev...
