Staff are nice and helpful. The plunge pool in our villa is okay but we can see the pool of another villa from our room. Privacy in using the pool might then be an issue for some people. Breakfast is so-so but comes with fresh coconut which is certainly a plus.

We stayed 9 nights here in a garden villa and really loved the place. It was low tide, meaning it was not really possible to swim in the sea right in front of the resort, but just a short walk away on the more central part of the Lamai beach it got deeper and you could swim as well. There's also a small and nice beach called Silver beach nearby. We used the complimentary kayak almost every day as it was nice to paddle on the calm waters in front of the resort. Pool area is great for just relax... Read more

We Stayed here begin may to visit our son Robbert who is doing his internship here. He promised us a wonderful stay at a beautiful hotel, and he did not lie about that! We checked in with Romee, another Dutch trainee who was really spontaneous and welcoming, and she showed us the room which was really spacious and with a nice Jacuzzi on the balcony. After we settled in the room, we went down to the pool to relax with some cocktails. At the pool we met Bank and Pop, who were throughout our stay a... Read more

My wife and I stayed at the Renaissance in May 2016. The resort is lovely and the attention of the staff is abundant. We would definitely return (and look forward to it). It is in a remote part of Lamai and the isolation provides privacy (thought its close enough to easily get to Lamai or Chawang.

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in Samui. From the arrival till departure, I had a wonderful time. Melissa checked me in very promptly and efficiently. She showed me the facilities and room with details. Puen at the pool was very friendly. Apple made sure that I got everything I needed while I was having breakfast. She was very accommodating and courteous. Special thanks to Kwang who made sure my room was absolutely spotless. Everything laid out neatly. Great housekeeping team ... Read more

As a Marriott gold member, I was treated well and upgraded nicely. Location was good, beach is not swimmable in front of the hotel due to the tide. It was very peaceful as I went off season and very quiet. Breakfast was good although would be nice to have smoked salmon as an option. Staff were very nice and warm! The reasons for the 4 stars instead of 5 as I don't believe this is a 5 star resort according to US standards are below: - Mosquito net over bed had many holes in it thus mosquitoes wer... Read more

We flew last minute to Koh Samui and got a great deal on a Pool Villa at the Renaissance Koh Samui. The room was nice, the pool in the room was very small but that was okay as by the time we got back to the room we were all tired of swimming. Bedding was wonderful. Nice and cozy. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is very good, for adults and kids. Buffet Breakfast in the morning is delicious as well (especially if you get free breakfast as we did.) Let me start by stating that this is a very nice resort. One of the things I like the most is the size of the resort. It is large enough to have all the necessary facilities but it is still small enough to have a familiar and cosy feel to it. Its a bit off, which I do not mind at all, but it should be mentioned. We stayed in a pool villa. These villas are quite spacious even if the layout is a bit badly planned. They are quite long and thin and there is some space that is not efficiently used. A... Read more

Perfect location to relax. My room was big, nice and very clean. The service staff perfect. The view from the restaurant is stunning - the food though rather boring... If you would like to relax, I totally recommend this hotel. The pool area is very beautiful, but if you want to swimm in the sea it is difficult as the water is very shallow and you have to walk quite a bit to deeper waters.

I have stayed at a this hotel twice and it has become like a home away from home, one of my favorite hotels in the world. You simply cannot beat the service and personal touch that they offer. I like that it is not a giant resort, but smaller, much more personal, and attracts a lot of couples (older and younger) and not so many children, offering a very peaceful environment. But smaller does not mean any fewer offerings, several good restaurants and room service and all the facilities you need. ... Read more

We had stay in Renaissance Hotel in Koh Samui for our honeymoon in April 2016. Hotel looked very nice, looked after and had beautiful gardens. Breakfast was always fresh, room clean, room service prompt and staff very polite and helpful. We had stayed in Villa 107 the best room by far. Very private surrounded with flowers and trees, we had amazing sea view and private beach near by, the best feature of the room as private pool !! Stunning - highly recommended.

We stayed in a delux room. The main problem was the AC which is extremely loud even at the lowest setting. Without the AC on the room became extremely hot very quickly. We had to choose between not sleeping due to the heat or not sleeping due to the noise. My first major annoyance was the lack of Wi-Fi. Our booking included free Wi-Fi but there was no option but to pay the extremely expensive charge for paid Wi-Fi. When we arrived received our bill they had added on a charge for "spirit in pre... Myself and my wife recently held our wedding at Renaissance. We could not fault this venue in any way. We stayed in the pool villa, garden view and the pool villa beach view after the wedding. The staff were amazing and very nice from start to finish. We had Apple take care of the organization of our wedding and we could not have been more happy. I spent 4 nights at Renaissance last week with a group of friends. Best two things about this hotel were the rooms (really huge and comfy bedding even in the standard rooms, including spa bath built into the floor of the large balcony area), and the wifi (simply the best I ever experienced in a hotel, it never dropped out and was really fast). There's really very little positive to say about this place. It has a nice private beach and it's designed well. That's really it. Negatives: Located in the middle of nowhere. To get to Lamai beach proper is a 15 min drive. To get to Chaweng is 20-25 mins. The WCs in the rooms are awful. They're low, strange and they don't flush right and have this slow weird whirlpool which takes forever to clear. The Renaissance resort is lovely, but it is not in the realms of incredible elegance that you will get from other resorts - which, I must note, cost at least twice the price!! We stayed for 4-nights to relax and "do absolutely nothing" and it suited the purpose just fine. It wasn't a special occasion and it did feel like just a good, solid break. 65,000 points per night for "beach front" villa... AND stay 4 and 5th should be free per standard Marriott policy. Not here. They still charged 25K (5 upgrade certificates) for that 5th night. And the villas are most definitely not beachside, so don't waste your points. Quite frankly, for those in the US, use those points for somewhere in Caribbean since the beach will be better.
