Kamalaya is a beautiful resort that will help you feel relaxed, refreshed and completely rejuvenated! My husband and I joined the 'Basic Optimal Fitness 5-nights program', and stayed in the 'Garden pool suite'. Before we decided on this, we did contact Kamalaya via email and their live chat function on their website, with many questions on the programs/treatments/rooms etc, and Kamalaya was very fast with their response. Everything was just so easy and stress free... Arrival: We were greeted b... Read more

This is the ultimate in relaxation, healing and holistic "repair". The staff are terrific, service levels are way beyond expectation. The food is very good, meals are equally tasty for de-tox or non de-tox guests. We will be back, but for longer than the 9 days we spent there recently.

Amazing 7 day solo experience on the Comprehensive Balance and Revitalisation programme. Superb treatments, stunning location, delightful room, wonderful food and quiet reserved service orientated staff. Terribly hot and humid in May so walking up the very steep hill from the beach was a sweaty challenge although the golf carts will happily transport you around the resort. Not great if you have mobility issues as there are an awful lot of steps everywhere even from the wellness reception to t... Read more

The resort is such as an amazing place where you get the chance to be fully pampered in every way; whether in massages, foods, walk around the place, meeting new people, etc.. Staff are very friendly, food amazing, treatments super relaxing, a wide choice of activities to do... I hope I had stayed a few days more just to take advantage of additional activities that I didn't have the chance to try. I stayed most of my stay within the resort and I don't regret a single bit.

I stayed for one week in September 2015 and completely enjoyed my experience. It is a place for mental, physical and spiritual rejuvenation. Pros: - Food is delicious and healthy with great variety. - Great variety of treatments - My favourites were the Ayurvedic treatments - Sridohara and Reiki; the practitioners were amazing! - The resort is quite large beautifully mixed in with the surroundings - The staff are all lovely and very professional - One has the option to eat meals alone or ... I stayed for the second time at Kamalaya, my first visit being in 2013. Sadly, I will not be returning to Kamalaya. The grounds, facilities, food and therapists were all excellent however, I was really disappointed by the reception staff and also my naturopath during my stay. I was doing a 7 comprehensive detox and my naturopath failed to mention that some of the therapies I had chosen would be charged extra, the terms had changed during my previous visit. When I realized and raised the naturopa... Read more

I have been to Thailand many times, I love it. But the service at Kamalaya is in a league of its own. It feels like everyone wants to make sure that it all happens just the way you want it. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is delicious. The massages were all of such a high standard. Every single one. It's going to take a lot to beat this for a health spa. We attended quite a few things - the yoga, some meditation. Again, what surprised me was the consistently excellent standard across all ... Read more

Kamalaya serves a purpose. For stressed out individuals and unhealthy bodies to find balance and regain physical and mental health. To that end, it serves its purpose quite well. It's not a place for kids or weak knees. That said, my 7 year old had a great experience entertaining the wonderful staff of Kamalaya. Of particular note are the staff of the two restaurants - who are always kind and helpful - I forget the names of some pf them but there is Pete, another young man with braces, several v... Read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit to Kamalaya. My husband and I both participated in a wellness program that was designed for our specific needs. We had room 58 with its own pool and an incredible view of the bay. Our room was comfortable. There are no tvs and you get brief access to wi-fi, but that is what we were looking for. You stay pretty busy doing a program and we used our downtime to read, swim, and just enjoyed taking a digital detox! We did enjoy going into town and wished we had... Read more

I stayed at Kamalaya for 3 days and did the rest and renew package. I have never in my life experienced something so very very special. The only fault I could find is that I only booked 3 days! The treatments, the staff, the physical surroundings I don't have the adjective vocabulary to do them all justice! The holistic program on offer was also superb in my 3 days I did two meditations (one a walking beach meditation), Pilates, yoga, a circuit and tai chi! All were amazing. The food alone make... From the very first moment of my wellness consultation I knew I had come to a once in a lifetime opportunity. What a pleasure! My week's stay has certainly made an impact on my life. The setting is a tropical paradise. The accommodation was perfect. I had a hillside room which was well located and extremely comfortable. The room had 2 showers - one indoor and one outdoor but undercover. My king size bed was divine- firm and the bed linen was so soft. Every day fresh fruit was provided and there were tea, free bottled water and a mini bar. I would return tomorrow. Book a villa on the beach. Grounds are very zen. Staff is very knowledgable and professional. They take great pride in their work. Range of services is outstanding. Loved all of them. Sign up for acupuncture right away, as it tends to get booked up. Initial evaluation is very helpful and uncovers body issues of which you are not aware. Many packages geared to health issues are available. All food and service is superb. I wish that I had been able to spend a minimum of a ... Read more

I am not one of those people that gravitates to the concept of these kinds of resorts of wellness. I would never go if my wife had not pushed me to go and get my batteries recharged. She was so sure I would change my mind that she drove me to the airport to make sure. However I must say the week I had there was one of the best weeks of my life. Kamalaya is very well run, and that is very important in these kinds of resorts. My first room was very simple and in the end I changed rooms as the... Read more

I kept my expectations low as I didn't enjoy my last stay in another wellness resort but Kamalaya took me by surprise. For me the best was the lush tropical forest the Kamalaya was "embedded" in, on a Clift with great seaviews. Very tranquil and peaceful. Was there only 4 days but already I feel much calmer. The no WiFi was excellent for me and I was quite disgusted when I saw a guest using his handphone at the massage waiting area (he was prob not using WiFi for his calls!!!). Anyway, that bad ... We picked Kamalaya for a tranquil and yoga filled retreat in a five star resort. The place definitely fell short on its yoga / fitness offerings but delivered on facility / rooms. It also felt very commercial, e.g. extra small portion food to encourage purchase of meal plans rather than a la carte; you have to pay for internet but each extra device have to pay ! recommend this place to people who are looking to detox in a nice environment; yes, their menu is better than eating raw veggies for... Kamalaya founders Karina Stewart & John Stewart are true visionaries to create a private paradise compound for wellness, rest, reflection and retreat from the ipad, noisy, rush rush madness of modern life. Rooms are super luxe and private - exquisite stone, perfect sea and garden vistas, teas, fruits and divans are made for deep sleep and rest. This place offers good classes, top notch healthy food and a quiet relaxing atmosphere. No partying or loud things. Just tranquility. For travelers looking to get away, get inspired, read, maybe write, exercise, and get some fantastic pampering, this is the place.

This is a very special place. As a single traveller I have been to a number of destination spas to relax and recharge and Kamalaya gave me a wonderful relaxing and nourishing break. Standout points - the property itself is lovely. The view from room 34 is magical. Very pretty health resort on Koh Samui. Beach area quite ordinary (more mud flats when tide is out) and quite remote. Complementary daily transfers to local beach and shops (approx 15 mins) Chewang Beach which is the main beach on the island is a 30 min drive.
