rooms are a little outdated but overall the property is very nice. Would stay there again. Tuk-Tuks wait just outside so easy to get transportation. Very inexpensive & professional massages at the spa. Daily breakfast buffet that was good. Only complaint was that there were lots of mosquitos in the dining area.

Really good value for money! Staff are super friendly, rooms are clean and location is perfect! Only a short walk around the corner to the night market. There are two pools and the hotel has good restaurants and a bar. Wifi is free and there is a tour desk and car service if needed.

The hotel is clean and a lovely layout, very central to night markets and shops. Swimming pool is nice and there was space. Room was nice but could do with modernising and a touch up, a little tired. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Food overpriced by pool bar. Would return.

I was very impressed with my first time in the hotel. I arrived late in afternoon and the staff were very good. I was tired after long travel, and it was easy to get through this first day. I ordered room service for the first night, and it was delicious. The buffet breakfast had a great variety of foods to cater to many nationality. I was there 6 days, and the hotel was good from start to finish.

I stayed 3nights at the hotel for a business conference. Good located, near nigh bazaar, close to many things. The meeting room was very nice. The fact of the singer Teresa Tang passed away at the hotel is very interesting. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. But, the rooms are dated. it is a very old hotel. don't think they update it much. Breakfast wasn't great, the bacon was so hard. a very average hotel. By Far The Friendliest Hotel Experience I've Had In Thailand. I'm not much of a reviewer, but I had to give the hotel staff credit! The staff even negotiated a taxi fee for me to ensure that I didn't get ripped-off. Also, the hotel offers shuttle service to the airport which is a plus!

My cousin and I stayed here for 3 days while visiting Chiang Mai. The staff here was very helpful with any questions we had. We had trouble connecting to the internet, but they were able to fix it within minutes of our call down to the front desk. The woman who helps book tours was excellent. She helped us choose and book a cooking class. On our last day we had extra time between check out and our flight. She helped us book a driver to take us on a driving tour of the city, into the hills ... Read more

I stayed at the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel Chiang Mai for a few nights in May 2016. This was my first stay at this hotel. I used this hotel only as a base to sleep from, as I did all the Mae Hong Son, Pai and Golden Triangle motorcycle trips from Chiang Mai. When I arrived, I was very impressed by the ambiance and the staff that treated me in a very professional and friendly way. Arriving in my room, I was a bit disappointed, for everything was quite basic and not the same touch of class as the rec... Read more

The plus + Good facilities Nice room Good breakfast Friendly and helpfull staff Nice location Nice pools & garden The minus - The bathroom needs an upgrade which the manager promised when I stayed here 16 months ago. But nothing havebeen done. The shower and bath tube is similar to a 300 baht guesthouse.

We have stayed many times at the Imperial Mae Ping. We find all the staff very friendly and very helpful. Buffet Breakfast is always delicious with an abundant amount to choose from. Rooms are a good size with electronic safe for peace of mind. The liquid refreshments are more expensive then in the local restaurants and bars. Night bazaar is just around the corner, so no need to worry about tuk tuks. It is also a short walk to the old city, so it is in a very central location. There is a local l... Read more

Yes, the Mae Ping may be tired in places but it is very very clean, well organised and the staff are great. The security was also very visual. The food was first rate and reasonably priced. For the price, this was a great option for a family in need of two rooms. The location is so close to night markets, Thai boxing, tailors and laundry. The laundry across the road charged 30baht per kilo. Great value and beautifully washed. The walk to the old section of Chiang Mia was only an easy 15 min wa... Read more

I stayed here two weeks ago with my boyfriend; the first place we stayed on our 3 week Thailand adventure. The hotel is in a very good location, 5 minutes from night bazar and a short tuc tuc ride from the old town. There are two outdoor swimming pools which are quite nice. The breakfast is very good (one of the best I have had in Thailand so far) and the staff are friendly. I wouldn't give this hotel a 5 star review as the room was a little dated with old decor and furniture and a few stains et... Read more

Very dated hotel. Location good for restaurants and night market but otherwise leaves a lot to be desired. Breakfast was a bit boring and repetitive. Staff didn't seem happy working in the breakfast area. The lifts were always busy. The other staff seemed pleasant. Not what we were expecting.

Well all i can say is excelent. From the moment we arrived 2 weeks ago we can not fault this hotel .The staff are all happy and welcoming, the location is great for markets resturants and tours, the 2 pools here are well maintained the rooms although aging are clean and comfortable the security first rate. Hotel is close to night market and close enough to city to go walking of you fell like so. But it is also just beside what we thought is the red light district. There is a street going from the hotel to the city that is full of bars, that during the day looks normal and after dark are quite different. Even with that, we have no issue walking around. There are a couple of swimming pools, one in lower floor and a nice, though smaller one, in first floor. Room was big and clean. Towels were changed... Read more

I've rated the hotel as a 5 as value for money you can't go wrong. We stayed for 3 nights as we were visiting Chang Mai to visit ENP (should have stayed longer but means we will be back) It's a large hotel which looks sort of 80s style, our room was large, bed was firm, good ac, flat screen TV. You get 4 bottles of water daily. Bathroom let it down however shower was ok (start it off 5 mins before you want to use it) rooms were spotlessly clean. I didn't like this hotel at all. It's very large and back in the day probably lived up to its star rating, but it hasn't kept up with the times. My room felt very old and outdated. It had a misty/mildewy smell, dirty looking carpet, tons of cakey dust built up behind the furniture, and the weirdest nightstand I've ever seen. At first glance I thought it had a built-in USB and power outlet, but upon further inspection it turned out to be a built-in radio and light switch. How bizarre. The only ... Read more

What is not to like about the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel? The rooms are comfortable, the location is great and the staff are very helpful. I stayed for 5 nights and could not fault the hotel. Some reviews say the rooms are outdated and the lifts are slow. Yes the rooms are showing their age but there is nothing wrong with them. They are clean and comfortable. Someone bjorked the main pool on 4/11 doubt it will be OK by tomorrow 7/11. The other pool is half the size and constantly overrun with bodies. We get an apology, thanks for the gesture. Not like we aren't paying customers. For service try the Dusit Princess instead! Puts this place to shame, the staff here are not nearly as happy and friendly as at the Dusit which is 5 min walk away.

We stayed 3 nights in the Mae Ping hotel. Room was lovely, the bed was nice and big too. 1 of the 2 pools was unusable though and the usable pool was very small. The sun would also completely be gone from the upper pool by about 4pm though due to the hotel building itself blocking the sun. This wasn't ideal but 4pm is still long enough if you're out early i suppose. The restaurant here is the hotels biggest let down. The Imperial Mae Ping was probably a marvelous hotel in 1970. In many ways it still is a good one. But it is in serious need of updating and remodeling. Almost everything has a "run-down" look and feel. It is surviving on tour bus trade. The three small elevators are inadequate to their task. On the upside, the staff were friendly and location is a good one. On the downside, it is overpriced.

Stayed here for 2 nights only during a recent visit to the area. The place is very old but generally well maintained. Staff is very friendly and helpful and most of them speak English reasonably well. Breakfast buffet was extensive including Asian and Western fare. I used the Spa for a treatment. Prices are high, compared to what you can get outside, but service and quality of treatment were excellent.
