My friend Priscilla and I from Singapore had the priviledge of staying at the Tamarind Village for 3 nights the week before and we really enjoyed our stay at this sanctuary in the heart of Chiangmai. We never had any issues with noises from the busy streets of Chiangmai nor the persistent problem of any mosquito bites. Service was excellent, upon check-out during the handling of luggages, my friend's porcelein ornament was broken by accident but the staff went all out to get a replacement shippe... Read more

The Tamarind Village is well positioned in the middle of the old city. Staff were professional but very friendly greeting you as we came and went. The room we stayed in was well appointed with fresh fruit delivered daily. The food was excellent especially their signature dish of stuffed bamboo shoots. We couldn't fault the service and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Once again a great stay in Chiangmai,5 stars.

A little bit of traditional paradise in the middle of the old town. Such a respite when you have had a hard day on your feet. A welcoming pool is always nice. The staff are amazing and really know how to look after us. These are some renovations going on but only from 10-4 so this is not a problem for us. With an inclusive afternoon tea as apology for any disturbance. A nice 2 hour tour of the temples in the local area. Breakfast is lovely with so much choice. We would defiantly come again wi... We stayed at Tamarind Village for 4 nights on our honeymoon. This was our first stop on our trip and we were so excited to visit. The staff did absolutely nothing to recognize our honeymoon. The restaurant breakfast was lovely and dinner in evenings was good value and extremely tasty, I am a vegetarians and there was plenty of dinner options Staff were fantastic very helpful and friendly. This is not an ultra modern hotel but more in keeping with traditional Thai, a hidden oasis.

We were really happy to have stayed here for 7 nights while on vacation in Chiang Mai. The rooms and buildings are in the old Lanna style which are comfortable, cool, and restful. We got Lanna deluxe room so we could have a balcony and sit outside in the shade overlooking the giant Tamarind tree. An group of old teak houses turned into an inner city motel/hotel with old world charm is the real appeal of this place. Sadly that is where it stops. Hotel food is good but is bit on expensive side. Breakfast options for vegetarian people are limited but for a non-vegetarian there is decent selection.

Chiangmai is an ancient city dating back to the 14th century. The new city is the second largest in Thailand and the capital of the north with a population of 1.8 million people. You get a sense of that arriving at the airport with people thronging and the noise of traffic and whistles, Tuk Tuks and motorbikes everywhere. As with Bangkok, it is amazing how the traffic weaves in and out without any of the bad temper witnessed in the uk. Arriving at the Tamarind Village, our taxi turned into an a... Read more

An ideal location. Good breakfast with lots of choice. Excellent complimentary 1 hour walking tour of the local temples. This includes providing an offering to a Buddhist monk and him blessing you. Easy walking or tuk tuk access to all main points of interest. Try to stay on a Sunday and experience the huge walking market. A great experience. One slight bug bear was hotel room had little or no natural light. Complimentary fruit juice and nibbles at the pool from 2-4pm each day.

An idyllic hotel that I can only describe as a hidden gem. All the staff are friendly and very obliging. Facilities include a lovely swimming pool and each afternoon a member of staff puts on a local craft display. Plenty of choice for breakfast, laundry very reasonably priced. Good location within walking distance to the night market. Would highly recommend based on the excellent service, the efficiency of the staff and location.

We loved their breakfast, buffet style with a variety of dishes. Their service is excellent. Everyone greeted us with a smile and they were very attentive to our needs (thank you!) Our room was beautifully decorated. Drinking water was provided and we appreciated the complimentary fruit for us to snack on during our stay. The hotel is situated in a very convenient location. We wanted to stay longer but all the rooms were booked. We hope to come back again sometime!

Stayed in July with our 18 year old daughter for 4 nights, lovely quiet hotel, never feels too busy plenty of room around pool. Restaurant just top class food any time of the day, need to book early for evening as people come in from the street too. staff very friendly and reception very good at recomending tours and we had a tour guide Tana for the day who shoved us to a waterfall the national park and gave us more information than we could ever imagine , please ask for her as a guide you will ... This was a lovely little hotel in the old city. Beautiful grounds and room. The room is quite small and after 3 days I was pleased to be moving on to a different hotel but if I had a bigger room, I could have stayed forever. The staff are exceptionally nice. We stayed as part of our honeymoon and was given a free meal in the restaurant which was absolutely wonderful. Breakfast was lovely with a good selection of different foods and juices, tea and lovely coffee. The location was excellent with ... Read more

Delightful in every way. Welcomed with a cool towel and an iced drink. The staff were attentive without fawning, friendly and caring. The rooms, the food, awesome buffet breakfast, the decor, the location... All excellent. I'd stay there again in a shot. Scooter hire across the road. Walking tour every meeting. Craft activities for the young and less young.

It is the best designed place I visited in Chiangmai. The tamarind tree in the center of the courtyard is the soul of this resort. The style is vintage, mixed with some modernism to the amenities. I had a great dinner besides the swimming pool, and a great leisure time on the sofa besides. The boutique shop sells fabrics made by craftsman. I bought Thai silk scarves, two shoulder bags and uses the till now. It is a masterpiece of a local architect I guess. It inspired my aesthetics.

The location of the hotel is excellent- just next to a nice restaurants, shops and the Sunday market. Very nice swimming pool and great breakfast!

OK it's not the highest 5 star accommodation that we have ever stayed in, but it was far better than our expectations, it ticks all the boxes, quaint, very peaceful except for the Cockerell next door I'm a light sleeper so heard it every morning at 4am!. The rooms were also not the darkest at night, outside lights on. Very clean more than adequate functional room good air conditioning. Wonderful staff and fabulous food.Drinks menu is varied but not cheap .. Massage and spa treatments are ... Read more

I dont normally do reviews but i felt i had to on this fantastic hotel. It is tucked away up a lovely bamboo covered driveway and is the perfect place to come back to after a day out sightseeing. We had the Lanna suite which suited us as we were with our 14 year old son. The breakfast was plentiful and lots of choice. All of the staff were so friendly and the customer service was exceptional especially when they helped us sort out a hiccup when our son had a nut allergy reaction. He had to hav... Read more

This is undoubtedly one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed at! The staff we encountered were, without exception, courteous, helpful and attentive. it adds value to it's product by providing free walking tours around the old city (daily upon request) and daily free art and craft lessons The ambience of the hotel was that of a tranquil oasis in the middle of a busy city and yet bars/restaurants and shops were to be found all around the hotel. Sunday night market is just outside hotel. Breakf... Read more

Stop. Just stop. Close down your browser tabs searching for a hotel. Stop searching hotel recommendation sites. The fact that you have searched for Tamarind means you have found the best hotel in town. Unless you prefer generic hotels and bad locations. In our opinion, Tamarind Village has it all. You will not believe how quiet and tranquil the place is yet in the location it is. It gives off a feeling of complete relaxation. This hotel is in a great location and the grounds are beautiful but I really felt it was a lot of style over substance to be honest. The wifi is bad, breakfast was not good, they don't give you shampoo/ conditioner in the rooms and the whole place just felt a little pretentious to be honest. The beds were very comfy, the place was clean and its in a good location but for what we paid and what the website promised I expected more.

Visited Chiang Mai for 3 nights as part of a holiday to Thailand and stayed in the Tamarind, and what an inspired choice it was. The hotel is located within the old city walls and has all the charm you would associate with that. The bedroom, public areas and pool were all faultless and to make the stay even more enjoyable the staff were all so friendly and helpful. My wife and I would highly recommend this hotel.

Chiang Mai is a large city and there are many hotels to choose from, but if you want a truly enjoyable experience then make reservations at Tamarind Village. It is located in the middle of the Old Town, perfect location for seeing the sites. You enter through a driveway of bamboo and then into a beautiful reception area, open on both sides....to the right the pool, to the left the courtyard and the large Tamarind Tree. Check in is a breeze and so friendly. You receive a cold towel and drink.... Read more

We absolutely adored this hotel. We stayed in the spa suite and had our own outdoor daybed, table and outdoor shower. The inside was so unique with thick wood furniture and felt surrounded by trees. The hotel also hosted daily cultural activities like lantern making. They also hosted a daily morning walking tour to offer food to the monks in local temples, and it was incredibly interesting. The hotel is very centrally located with many temples and markets in walking distance.

I don't really get the hype about this hotel. We have read so many reviews saying that it's THE place to stay in Chiang Mai, so our expectations were very high. First of all, it has the price of a 4 stars hotel, but with the facilities of a 3 stars. You don't get what you pay for here. The hotel is not comfortable. First, the rooms : the photos give a very different impression of what the rooms are in reality. Our room was small and dark, I had a sensation of confinement after a few days here. I... Read more

Nice boutique hotel with pleasant staff and well situated. Overall we were happy with our stay here and liked the tranquility of the hotel after a busy day. It's not an overly comfortable hotel and doesn't really have any chill areas outside of your bedroom but it worked for our break. Drink was expensive with prices that made it feel like home and breakfast was nice. Walking tour they offer on arrival is simply a visit to 3 Temples so if Temples are not your thing - have a lie-in!

I seldom write review in TripAdvisor but I feel like I need to write something about this hotel. We stayed 5 nights in Tamarind and it's awesome. Excellent service and cleanliness. Even it's right in the middle of the Sunday market, I can't hear any noise from my room. Somehow all drivers know where the hotel is. We had no problem getting back to the hotel at all. The hotel provided complimentary head and shoulder massage and it's great together with our spa. The only thing I'm not happy about ... Read more

A very pleasant and attractive place, with good service and a nice restaurant. Tamarind Village evokes a casual Thai style and architecture. Make sure your arrival and departure is not scheduled during the Sunday market which closes the street and prevents vehicular access.
