Packed into the busy streets of old town Chiang Mai is the wonderful little jem. So peaceful here it feels totally separate from the rest of the world. Pleasing details, great service beautiful decor. The deluxe rooms are a bit tiny when you are traveling with two large suitcases, but we managed to work around that. Loved the pulsating shower - could have spent hours under it! After the bustle of downtown Bangkok - this was a gift! And when we received messages from the hotel or tour guides it ... Read more

If you do not like large modern chain hotels that all look the same then this is the place for you. The place has an old charm that just feels right. All the staff are superb, breakfast excellent. OK, it could do with a little more space around the pool and the rooms need heavier curtains to stop the light at night but the plus points far outweigh the minor negatives.

Located in Chiang Mai old town it is a little oasis amongst the noise and hustle of the surrounding area. Excellent friendly staff, clean rooms although quite small and good breakfast. The restaurant prices, as with so many hotels, are too high and you can get an excellent evening meal yards away at a quarter of the cost. Clean but small swimming pool surrounded by not enough loungers. Because it is enclosed it does not get the sun all day.

Spent four nights at the Tamarind Village. Room quite small and dark as barely any window but comfortable and charming - especially with local tribe headwear as decorative features and with some fascinating books to read. The hotel also had a fascinating and well presented exhibition about the life and textiles of the Hmong tribe and it was clear that the hotel works hard to support local culture in a very responsible way. In an upstairs room, the shower was under the eaves and my 6 foot husb... Read more

My wife and I stayed at the Tamarind on January 30. The property is a beautiful oasis amid the hustle and bustle of the old city. The room was disappointing for the following reasons: The bed was right bedside the door, white window coverings did not provide privacy or block the outside garden lights, because of the position of the bed so close to the door we could hear all the outside foot traffic. We felt like there was no privacy, the light shone directly in our eyes and the noise lead ... Read more

Located in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai's old city center, Tamarind Village is a little piece of paradise. Standing in the courtyard under the boutique hotel's giant Tamarind tree glowing with dozens of Thai lanterns, you'd never know that only steps away the city's famous night market was taking place. The rooms are small yet beautifully furnished, boasting old-world character with traditional Thai decor, brass accents, and plaster walls, with all of the modern immensiti... Read more

We loved this quiet oasis in the centre of the old town. A bustling places once you step out the front door but an oasis of peace when you enter .Our room was well appointed and we had a small balcony with a bench seat .Our room was quiet ,except for one night when noisy neighbours kept us awake till after midnight ,but they were told to be quiet by someone and all was well . The food at the restaurant was a excellent.

This was our second visit to Tamarind Village and everything I wrote in my previous review still stands - if anything even better! This time we had a standard room instead of a suite, and hardly noticed the difference. The room was spacious, with a quiet balcony for reading or just contemplating, everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and ever smiling. We had to change our itinerary due to the flooding in Southern Thailand, and the young man on the desk was e... Read more

I stayed here one night before heading to do volunteer work at Elephant Nature Park. This hotel was absolutely lovely. My room was adorable. There were bananas waiting for me in my room for a snack. There was a safe, the bathroom was a great size and the mosquito netting was lovely and practical, though I did not find mosquitoes to be an issue. It was December when I was there so I did not go into the pool, but I could see it being lovely to swim in after a hot day. The breakfast was delicious a... Read more
