My friend Priscilla and I from Singapore had the priviledge of staying at the Tamarind Village for 3 nights the week before and we really enjoyed our stay at this sanctuary in the heart of Chiangmai. We never had any issues with noises from the busy streets of Chiangmai nor the persistent problem of any mosquito bites. Service was excellent, upon check-out during the handling of luggages, my friend's porcelein ornament was broken by accident but the staff went all out to get a replacement shippe... Read more

The Tamarind Village is well positioned in the middle of the old city. Staff were professional but very friendly greeting you as we came and went. The room we stayed in was well appointed with fresh fruit delivered daily. The food was excellent especially their signature dish of stuffed bamboo shoots. We couldn't fault the service and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Once again a great stay in Chiangmai,5 stars.

A little bit of traditional paradise in the middle of the old town. Such a respite when you have had a hard day on your feet. A welcoming pool is always nice. The staff are amazing and really know how to look after us. These are some renovations going on but only from 10-4 so this is not a problem for us. With an inclusive afternoon tea as apology for any disturbance. A nice 2 hour tour of the temples in the local area. Breakfast is lovely with so much choice. We would defiantly come again wi... This village is amazing, the ambience is perfect, location is perfect, service is excellent. Everything about this place is good, its an old courtyard and the rooms are very simple but with a high degree of detail, it really feels authentic. Service is great, friendly and they take excellent care, they even payed my expenses when i had to go to the hospital and went along to make sure everything went smooth. We stayed at Tamarind Village for 4 nights on our honeymoon. This was our first stop on our trip and we were so excited to visit. The staff did absolutely nothing to recognize our honeymoon. I was hoping for some sort of special treatment and they did not even say congratulations even though it was on our reservation. The room we requested was not given to us due to construction on the property that we were not made aware of until the week prior to our arrival. I asked to look at other available... Read more

We have recently returned from a trip to Thailand and had the absolute pleasure of staying a this hotel for four nights. We stayed in the Lanna suite, which was just perfect., down to every last detail. I read the reviews beforehand and we were not disappointed. This is, indeed, an oasis of tranquility amidst a busy bustling fun city. The staff are brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts are a real treat. The pool was delightful. A lovely traditional hotel in Chang Mai. Rooms were very clean, bottles of fresh water in constant supply along with fresh fruit. The restaurant breakfast was lovely and dinner in evenings was good value and extremely tasty, I am a vegetarians and there was plenty of dinner options Staff were fantastic very helpful and friendly. This is not an ultra modern hotel but more in keeping with traditional Thai, a hidden oasis.

Great Everything. It is the most perfect place to stay. And amazingly quiet despite its position. The staff are wonderful, the rooms delightful and equipped with everything you might need, the grounds are beautiful and the food is absolutely delicious. I stayed at the Tamerind to get a much needed rest after lots of travelling -- and succeeded!

The hotel is 13 years old, designed and build to look older. HIghlight is nature, and the low rise buildings fit in with the feel of the area. Great location, can reach everything by foot or tuktuk. The Tamarind Village is a beautiful serene hotel & a if you decide to stay you must do the Village Walk. Our guide Duen made the experience. Friendly staff, great location and good food. After traveling around Phuket after we left this hotel we can say we miss how warm and welcoming the Tamarind Village staff was. We were really happy to have stayed here for 7 nights while on vacation in Chiang Mai. The rooms and buildings are in the old Lanna style which are comfortable, cool, and restful. We got Lanna deluxe room so we could have a balcony and sit outside in the shade overlooking the giant Tamarind tree. The only thing about the room is that the doorways are low, so someone over 6 ' tall needs to watch their head. The location is perfect, right near the eastern gate and on the Sunday walking street. We stayed here whilst in Chiang Mai. It was centrally located just outside the old town gates. A lovely 5 star boutique hotel with a small swimming pool. Food was lovely although it is cheaper to eat out (plenty of restaurants nearby). We didn't use the spa as massages outside the hotel round the corner were a tenth off the price. Small finetuning here and there is needed though, rooms are rather small, we opted for the larger De Luxe category and the main difference is a tiny balcony that does not increase the comfort inside the room. An group of old teak houses turned into an inner city motel/hotel with old world charm is the real appeal of this place. Sadly that is where it stops. The rooms are sparse but seriously bad is the lack of electric ventilation of the toilets (aired by natural breezes) and the lack of covered walkways between rooms/blocks of rooms and the reception so when it rains you just get wet. This is a lovely hotel with bags of charm, extremely good service and a fabulous location in the centre of the old city. The only "controllable" downside was the standard of the evening meals in the restaurant which were a disappointment. Are the popular dishes re-heated? We also had to contend with the Chiang Mai canine X-factor outside of our window every night but there's not much the hotel can do about that.
