My friend and I booked this hotel merely for the purposes of having a place to sleep. We came into Chiang Mai late, were going to spend the entire next day on tours / adventures, and fly out the evening of. So we decided to get an inexpensive but decent hotel for two nights so we could rest a bit before flying out. Total mistake. Even though it was literally about $40 USD / night, it was "expensive" in Thailand for the quality. - mosquitos everywhere with no intention of keeping them out - a ... Read more

Stayed here for about 10 nights. Upon check in got upgraded to a deluxe suite. Had a corner room with a nice mountain view. Room was clean and cozy. Morning view was refreshing. Neighborhood was quiet and not many shops around. Staff was very helpful. Rented a car on my trip, a carpark is available at the basement. Had no issues getting around.

This is a pretty awful hotel. Not only do most of the staff not speak basic English, but their internet SUCKS - you keep having to switch between their routers to get anything done. On top of that - on my last night I had food in their restaurant and noticed some of it was a bit cold - I should have stopped then! The next morning I had really bad food poisoning and when I told the girl at check out she said 'oh I'm sorry' and that was that. I managed to check in with the next hotel that day wh... Read more

Super cheap, good room at 500bht+tax. Room 218 had great a/c and lovely bathroom--even had a balcony! Cosy furnishings, incl lots of storage space, and super comfy bed. Refreshing outdoor pool and cheapish beers you can drink in there. Laundry is only 45bht per kg. Best part?? The staff! Everyday the front desk staff had tips and recommendations. Suuuuper friendly (and Jenny is the best)! There's even a computer you can use in the lobby for free. My fave place to stay, so I extended my time ther... Read more

Hotel has strange vibe...and in weird part of town. Very tired and old furniture. Didn't feel safe in this area. And there was quite a large bit of poo on the shower curtain. I felt the hostel I previously stayed in in Chiang Mai @Lanna Hostel was a significantly better option than this hotel.

Very reasonable hotel, good bed. Spacious rooms. Ok breakfast. Good budget price (if booked in advance). Small swimming pool is ok. If you compare with the many guest houses or so called boutique hotels, this hotel has a better for money value. You can see the rooms are old, but still in very good quality. The marble counters and floors are from excellent quality and last for many years. (not sure how old this hotel is !?) Its a choice, decent room and service (no atmosphere) or yo... Read more

We like the hotel staffs who understand English and who are very helpful. Buffet selection is not bad. for the price one pays it has a reasonably good selection of food with some standards one. Room is reasonably spacious with basic furniture. Unfortunately, the wall between the rooms is too thin or the sound proof is just bad! We had very pleasant and comfortable stay on the first 3 nights of stay, and on our last 2 days, a group of young looking chinese girls came staying next door, and our... Read more

The hotel is amazing. Every day they clean the room so it was very clean. People are very competent, good speaking English and kind. The breakfast is very good and cheap. This hotel is located just only 15 min from markets. The fitness gym is bad... Unfortunately.

We arrived at The Royal Peninsula hotel at around 7am so were unable to check in but the hotel looked after the luggage and we used the pool which had a dangerous decking and was in the shade all morning. When we checked in we arrived in our room which was a twin room with TV, dressing table, mini fridge and bathroom. The beds were comfortable but the room was just a bit dark and dingy and needed a good clean as there was dust in places that had clearly been forgotten about for a while. We also... Read more

We are currently staying at this hotel until 1/10/16 and we are on the fifth floor with a "balcony" which actually is not a balcony" because it is glazed in, so no fresh air! The staff are all very friendly and obliging but when we checked in we were surrounded by Mosquitos! For a budget hotel the accommodation is reasonable but the WI-FI is a joke! I note previous guests on TA have mentioned this but trust me, It's still absolutely crap!

If you are visiting Chiang Mai for the first time and do not know much about where everything is may I suggest you book into The Royal Peninsula Hotel. it may not be the best hotel in town and it certainly isn't the worst. However it may well be the best value. One challenge is it is not within walking distance of anything if you are older or suffer from the heat. But there is any number of "red buses" passing the door which you can use to go anywhere. For younger people you can easily walk ... Read more

This hotel is a really dirty and strange hotel. The staff doesn't speak English that good. And the rooms are dirty. The pictures that they use on the hotel sites are not the real deal, maybe in the beginning when they just opened the place but now it's nothing like it! The breakfast is also not that good Would stay here for a second time
