I don't normally stay in.The Holiday Inn chain, but my friend booked an Executive Room, so I got myself a room with river view. The seemingly extra space and, expanse was worth it. My Room in 19th floor was big. When invited to 25th floor, I found the staff in the lounge were friendly and I helpful. The only negative was that we had to take a taxi (not many to be found) or tuktuk to go into town.

The hotel has nothing to complain about but except its location. it is away from the central place of Chiang Mai. The free shuttle (in the evening only) is difficult incase you decide at the last minute to go to Night Bazaar as the concierge wants a pre booking for the shuttle. The tuk-tuk will cost you THB 100 for a one way drop to Night Bazaar and a bargain can bring it down to THB 70-80. There is something you need to expect - there are many group tours using this hotel so if you don't like having to share the lobby and elevators with big groups, this hotel is not for you.

Happy to have stayed at this hotel, the rooms were gigantic and the bathrooms equally generous. The hotel staff were very welcoming with our group of four, quickly upgrading us and providing advice on what to do and where. Nice clean rooms but our only problem is that it took approx 5-7 mins before hot water came out of the shower. It was no problem, we simply ran the shower a few minutes prior to using it, but thought what a waste of water.

This hotel was our last stop in a fairly hectic 6day itinerary from Bangkok to Chang Mai. The bed was just what what we needed, extremely comfortable, the rooms also clean & large not giving that closed in feeling. Staff are very friendly & accommodating. We extended our stay in Chang Mai and are happy this hotel was the one selected by our tour company

This hotel is rated 4 star. Perhaps a couple of decades ago, but ths hotel is in dire need of a facelift. The rooms are very large and clean, but so tired looking. There is a so called pool area. The pool is a hike in the ground, no steps or different depths, just a large bath. On the whole, very depressing.

The Holiday Inn Chiang Mai is a 30 year old hotel and certainly looks the part. The lobby and dining area are impressive, but the common areas and rooms are in need of updating. I'm 5'7" (170 cm) tall and I could touch the ceiling in the hallway while standing flat footed. Of the 5 elevators in this 25 story hotel, at least 1 and often 2 were not working. Inexcusable, really. The rooms are large and the bed is comfy, however, the bathroom looks ancient. I also had a lot of trouble with my key ... Read more

Had a room on the 8th floor, the room was large and comfortable, the airconditioner was a bit noisy, but once room cool could turn off of a night. A bit of noise from corridor, could hear people walking and talking also hear slight noise from adjoining rooms. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Lifts very slow, especially in peak time, e.g. breakfast time.

Rooms are really large and well appointed. All the amenities ie bath good shower and toilet but missing something that you sort of get used to in Thailand (BG). Room service good and prompt. Breakfast is huge and very well provided. The staff are friendly and most speak English. The onlu issues is the lifts. It is a problem that they recognise but you need to allow some time if you are meeting someone downstairs. Apart from that I would definitely stay there again.

Our third stay at the Holiday Inn in Chiang Mai, in recent years. The hotel is clean and fresh, the rooms are large. Due to my error on booking I was upgraded from Superior to Deluxe room free of charge. The King Size was very comfortable and the shower area is very clean and large. Breakfast was a variety of so many types of food, I went for the freshly cooked omelettes but lots of Asian dishes, fresh fruit, juices and lots of other things I cannot remember. The General Manager and the Restaura... Read more

This hotel is very large with a nice terrace over looking the river for breakfast or evening dinning. It's has a big reception area and lounge. The rooms are nice but the bathrooms are very dated mine had green tiles with tear drops as part of the patern. Saying all that it comfortable clean and offers good value for money.

When we arrived at the Hotel, we were greeted warmly. I had specifically asked for an adjoining room. We got a surprise when we checked-into our rooms. They weren't. Called them back to change. Unfortunately, all rooms were taken up but they promised to give us the next day. All we needed to do was to pack our bags & inform them before we leave for our tour the next morning. This we did. When we got back, we were given new room keys & our luggage & things were all there in the new rooms. Our ro... Read more

This hotel apparently used to be a Westin and then a Sheraton and was converted in 2007 to a Holiday Inn. Not having known this beforehand, I was WAY impressed when I walked in, freshly off the plane to Thailand. It is a beautiful, sparkling luxury hotel with an invigorating scent being piped through the lobby. Yet it is the staff and management that make a stay memorable and this hotel has one of the best teams I have ever encountered anywhere in my travels. I can easily say that I found this h... The staff at the Holiday INN is amazing. got a priority check-in as well as a room upgrade to a suite. The suite was simply amazing and very well appointed. Hotel is well located and its easy to get tuk tuks right outside the hotel. Some very nice restaurants in the hotel.

This hotel is in a great location and has a very warm and friendly staff. They also served a nice breakfast. Unfortunately the facilities are tired and dated and in need of serious refurbishment. The carpets were grungy in many places. The elevators were particularly frustrating - one of them didn't work at all and one would alarm if more than 5 people were in it. The air conditioner tried to keep up in our room but failed miserably. The halls were too warm as well. The drinks at the bar were skim... Read more

The walls are very thin and you can hear too well things in the next rooms like water flush in the toilet, people talking a bit loud or tv set to same volume , ( im surprised this wasnt mentioned before on this page because i talked to other guests and im not the only one ) i got a room change after the first night due to these and noisy neighbors as it was impossible to get any sleep, somehow rooms on the 10th floor seems a bit newer then one on floor 13 Besides that its a good hotel, the ro... Staffs here are great and attentive. The hotel a bit tried side so must say that need an upgrade especially room accommodation to make it more shining and if you are looking for location location location, this might not be your great answer as they are a bit out from the night bazaar and tourist spots but they do provide local type shuttle service so good to experience their shuttle. The hotel room and bathroom is super big for one person especially for the corner unit. The hotel is quiet and staff are helpful with good service. The staff sent me a welcome guava juice for being an IHG member while helping me with the check in. The bed is nice and good for a night stay.

I have to say that I have never seen a Holiday Inn like this. It is by far one of the best hotels Holiday Inn has and a great choice for any brand. I didn't try the food because it was a bit expensive especially with so many places to eat for cheap and the food there was fantastic. It has a great pool area to relax. It has one of the better gyms for a hotel that I've seen. It is nicely located and it is easy to get anywhere that you want to go. Customer service to me is important and they h... Read more

Truely disappointed with service provided by concierge staff. He was rude , no respect to guest, for the shuttle service to night bazaar I was asked to wait half hour for not booking on time although there were plenty of seats in the tuk tuk that was heading to night bazaar. I will here stay in this hotel again and I will never recommend anyone either. location is far from city centre.. Need to catch tuk tuk and costs you around$5-$10 to go to night bazaar and to get back to hotel. Breakfast was... Read more

If location is not a top priority but a nice room in the 4 star category at a good rate then this hotel appears to be second to none in Chiang Mai. Nice large clean rooms in pretty good condition at super rates. I have stayed in well over 20 different hotels in Chiang Mai in all categories up to 5 star, and while I think in average Chiang Mai offers generally good value anyway, the Holiday Inn is exceptional value. If you have a car or don't mind using a taxi or the hotel shuttle to go to the Ni... Read more

Fairly modern and clean. Friendly check in with IHG desk. Very good buffet breakfast with lots of options. It's about a 200 TBH tuk tuk ride into the center of town where the sights are. No good restaurants nearby. Good view of the river and the city if you're high up enough.

We recently spent 2 nights here and were very impressed with the facility. As IHG Platinum members, we received fresh guava juice on arrival, an upgraded room on the 24th floor with beautiful mountain and river views and a nice welcome plate of fruit and cookies. We asked for late departure and did not have to check out until 4 pm. We also used the free hotel shuttle service into town. The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet.
