Worn & patched the hotel is still kept neat enough for a pleasant stay. Services are good and you can find a quiet place by the roof top pool. Breakfast restaurant in the lobby area was extremely loud & busy, the type of buffee you spend more time walking about than eating from. It could be we were unlucky with a large group of rowdy tourists but second day we ate elsewhere.

The location is a little outside the central square. There is a nice mall around where you can enjoy good food and nice massage (basement). The hotel itself is a little too old, but still clean. It is a big hotel very crowded when we went there. It is also a little noisy since the airport is not that far. The breakfast and the rooftop restaurant are okay.

Our group stayed here for a budget golf tour so I didn't have a choice. My only complaint is that mosquitoes are everywhere including the rooms but everything else is satisfactory considering that you can stay here for the price of a dinner. Free wifi everywhere was nice.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and felt it was the best place as it was just 2 min distance from beach . We used to have a beautiful view from the hotel room. Even the breakfast area was nice however as we were eggetarians we could only have eggs there. Overall nice hotel

We would come back to the Furama. We like being close to a grocery store so the Rimpling market in the basement of the Maya Mall across the street is just great. There's also a theater at the Maya and many restaurants including hawker stands. The Furama has 2 pools open until 7p/15:00hr and both are outdoors and great. The staff is so helpful and nice, every last one of them. The buffet is above average and the restaurant food is also nice. 2 plastic water bottles are included in the room da... Read more

We recently visited Chiang Mai for 4 nights & stayed in Furama. Staff were friendly enough at reception & it appeared fine. On entering the lift the carpets were ripped & dirty. As we entered our floor there were no lights, it smelt stale, the carpet had stains on it all over & was dirty. The room smelt stale, stains on sofa, slippers left were stained, torn & had obviously been worn before. The bathroom was disgusting, phlegm on curtain over the bath, mould, rust & couldn't see through shower... Read more

About the forth time I have stayed here. The reason I stayed here is that it is close to my business colleagues condo otherwise I would find somewhere else. The rooms are a little old and used and the place could do with a make-over. I had an executive room which suffered a plumbing malfunction during my visit. After an hour of plunging and flushing the maintenance man gave up and I was moved to a new room. I have to say this new room was very good.....large, modern, new.....where had they been... Read more

Similar to many other reviews on here, this hotel wasn't the greatest. The lobby and bar were nicely done and the buffer was tasty. A number of people complained that the rooms were outdated.... I didn't find that to be an issue... It was tasteful. The rooms were large and had a small kitchenette area.... But nothing in the kitchenette.... Which defeats the purpose. The room definitely could have been cleaner... My headboard was covered in water stains, I found a few dead bugs on the floor an... Read more

I traveled to Chiang Mai with my young son . We have travelled Thailand a bit but this was our first trip up here. My first impression was at reception the lady who served me was very polite I spoke in my limited Thai and asked if it was possible to have a mountain view with my room possibly a balcony . She was most gracious :) she allowed me and my son to go have a swim on the rooftop pool while the prepared our room. The hotel lobby and foyer are very nice. We had a nice swim ordered some foo... Well, when we entered the hotel it really seems like that fantastic buildings from the past with so many beautiful decoration, so many histories to tell. But when we entered the rooms.... The only good thing was the view and the bed. The windows we're dirty, the all bathroom was dirty and so antique... It was really a disappointing hotel to stay. The location is perfect - near the center and near to the amazing life that Chiang Mai can offer.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. Check in was efficient and the hotel is in a fairly central location. Our room was very spacious but was not clean. The air con was loud and made strange noises, the room was dusty , bath dirty, room had a strange smell to it and no vacuum cleaners used to clean rooms- only a brush. The corridors were dark and dingy. The pool on the top floor was not well maintained in fact my son cut his toe on a loose pool tile. This hotel is well overpriced and I would... Read more

I stayed for a few days, and it has a certain rustic charm to it. That being said, a lot needs to be renovated. I could barely get wifi, the temperature for the shower was either scalding or freezing, and the Air Con wouldn't work the last night, leaving the room too hot. When I told these things to the front desk, there seemed to be no interest of sympathy whatsoever. A lot of the staff stand around and do nothing a lot of the time. This place seemed cool, but I definitely won't be coming back ... Read more

The hotel is located at a quiet area but it closed to the shopping mall, Maya by walking distance. Room is very big which just like a condo with kitchen area, balcony place etc, however the decoration is old. The most important to me is the wifi service as I need to work during my holiday here. The wifi signal is weak and disconnected in some areas in the hotel. There are 2 swimming pools on 17th floor and 5th floor, the one at 17th floor is nice. I stayed here for 1 night only, so I am oka... Read more

Hotel was really old and run down. We had to call the repair man once we checked-in cause the shower facilities was not working. The staff attitude was really bad - there were too many staff loitering around and doing nothing but chatting with one another. Breakfast food was not that good and the service staff was horrible. We repeatedly asked for knives and they didn't come at all for an hour - claiming they no longer provide knives cause they are washing it (you mean you take more than an hour... Read more

We booked this hotel through Expedia which at the time had 4 out of 5 stars. We even looked up YouTube videos to see a tour of the hotel. It looked nice. It looked clean. Sadly, that wasn't the case. We checked in, and thought "okay, the lobby looks nice and clean" . . . After check in we headed to the elevators.. I knew something was wrong with the place as soon as we stepped foot into the elevator. The EXTREMELY small elevator!! The sign said it could fit 9 people but it barely fit our party o... Read more

Last month we spent some time at Furama. Been coming here since it was the Grand Heritage. We like this hotel for its location. Spanking new Maya Shopping Mall a few hundred metres away on one side and the matriarch of Chiangmai's shopping centers Kad Suan Kaew on the other, the city's signature street food (at night) is a couple of hundred meters further on. Walkable to Nimmanhaemin and Eastern parts of the Old City. The Ping River and Night Bazaar are a short song-thaew (red bus) ride away. ... Read more

The inside and the surrounding areas of the hotel are nice. The pool is decent. We chose this hotel because it's near to the old city. Maya mall and nimanhemin road across the street is also perfect. Services are good. The staff are very friendly!

Stayed 4days in this hotel. The building and furniture in the room are old and dirty. service isn't that great, the staffs couldn't really speak English but the price is reasonable. It's 5mins walk to Maya mall. I would prefer to pay more and stay in a modern hotel.

Arrival - got a taxi from the train station. Took approximately 40 mins. The hotel in a decent location and close to the new Maya shopping mall. On entrance it looks to be a nice hotel. The reception area is decent but that's where the good ends for me. Check in was straight forward and the girls on reception was friendly. The hotel is old, extremely noisy with tourist groups. During breakfast time, it's a really big anarchy with people fighting for food, which quality is not that good. I had bad experience with people in reception, asking me for giving a guarantee deposit. I refused since I made and paid for my reservation in advance. This is first time in my life I have experienced this all over the world. Not a great experience.

This was my third stay at the Furama, and based on this most recent visit, won't be my last. This is a very good hotel at this price-point. Although a bit dated, it is still one of the better establishments in Chiang Mai. You will never feel cramped at the Furama. The rooms are very large, and the beds comfortable.
