Wow! One hot afternoon during our trip in Chiang Mai we were looking for some nice cool place to escape from the heat. 137 Pillar House was the pick. The first step was already impressive. The concierge was genuinely welcoming. We told him that we were there only for quick lunch. He walked us all the way to the dining area explaining about the place and all the facilities. We didn't expect lunch to be anything delicious as usually hotels like this (whose target customers are foreign touri... Read more

137 Pillars House made our Thai vacation, for far too many reason to list. I'll try to sum it up in short lists: -ROOMS: stunning large rooms with extravagantly Thai decor. Our own private sala (balcony) off the room, outdoor shower, and impressive attention to detail. We had everything we needed and more. It seemed there were about 30-40 on the entire property, which made our experience feel secluded and private. -PROPERTY: It's gorgeous...from the Ivy draping wall alongside the pool, to the 1... It only takes 30 seconds as you are are greeted by the check-in staff to feel that you are going to experience a charming, comfortable, peaceful, relaxing stay. Everyone is smiling, understanding, attentive. The place is unique with its mix of colonial atmosphere and refined luxury. Our king size balcony was giving on the main building, facing magnificent trees displaying orange flowers and overlooking perfectly tended gardens. We loved the lengthy swimming pool placed in a calm corner of the co... Read more

We have stayed at 137 Pillars House for 3 nights last week. The whole experience was exceptionally wonderful starting from the time we checked in. The staff was so nice and helpful. We fell in love with the old house at first sight. Such a stylish colonial building´╝? The suite was also spacious and comfortable and we did not even want to leave the room. The cooking class was great. The welcoming dinner was very romantic with great quality food and live piano solo. Thanks to the ch... Read more

Not sure words can express what an amazing experience the 137 Pillars House was for my family. We just came from the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok which by all measures was fantastic. But the 137 Pillars House kicked it up one more notch by offering 5 Star accommodations with personal service from the front staff to the concierge (Thank you Toto ???). Having Toto's phone number made booking reservations, taxis and pretty much everything else very easy. The rooms are spacious with a large patio, ... Read more

One of the best hotel stays I've ever experienced, and I've traveled all over the world. The room was gorgeous, the service was impeccable. They assign you a butler when you arrive. They helped me book an elephant tour and cooking class on my arrival - everything was taken care of within minutes. I found a local laundry service, and they coordinated the pick up and delivery for me - I left my bag at the desk and when I got home that night it was in my room. Everything was thoughtful and seemless... Read more

Great boutique hotel in Chiang Mai!!! Rooms are well appointed and the grounds are immaculate. The hotel is central to activities in Chiang Mai and the staff was great!!! Each room includes a large porch which is great in the mornings and evenings. Includes a decent breakfast.

I love the colonial feeling, the drawers at reception going all the way to the ceiling and all the small details that you can find when walking around the resort. Service was also great, you can see that they are not used to have kids around the resort but the staff went above and beyond to cater our needs.

137 Pillars House is beautifully-designed with mainly white color and teak, the colonial style is warm and classy. My husband and I stayed in the hotel for our anniversary. We stayed in room #21 for 4 nights. The room was gorgeous, clean with large, king-sized comfy bed, good showers, with everything you need. Wifi reception is strong throughout the hotel. There were both indoor and outdoor showers . There were many TV channels at your choice. Appreciated very much the fruits provided by the h... Read more

We didn't get a butler when our friend did during the same trip. My other friend got a room next to a bar so she wasn't able to sleep well the first night. They should just close the room. The hotel ambiance is extremely beautiful though. It's like being transported back in time. The breakfast buffet is good.

I tried counting the pillars. Once when I arrived and once before I left. Both attempts didn't come up to 137. Not sure where the name of the hotel came from. Damn nice establishment. Having experienced hostels, B&B, and cheap serviced apartments in Chiang Mai, this 5star hotel was a big major change in view and luxury standards. Will be back when I have enough baht.

An exquisite hotel in a quiet street near the River Ping with heritage and history to its name. It is associated with Louis Leonowens the son of Anna of the King and I fame. The garden is beautifully designed with a swimming pool and romantic canopied day beds to relax in. We stayed at the well-appointed Rajah Brooke Suite with a lovely balcony to chill out. Soft drinks and beer in the mini bar are complimentary which is a lovely touch. The food at the Thai restaurant serves great Thai cuisine wi... Read more

If you are looking for a quiet hotel to switch off then this is a great hotel, it never felt like there was more than 10 people in the whole hotel. The pool is beautiful and service is 100% quality. Only downside was that there were a lot of mosquitos and we were bitten loads. They did provide the incense to keep them away but unfortunately it didn't work. It would be great if the bedrooms provided 'mosquito nets.' Other than that the hotel is beautiful!

The rooms themselves were huge with large bathrooms and outdoor showers. Also got cooking and nighttime stories. The breakfast was wonderful. Lovely hotel at a 15 min walk from city centre. The rooms are lovely with a nice seating area outside, try not to get room 9 as it is the first room right next to the entrance and reception area. The breakfast is very good and if you get a chance try their spa services, the staff there is wonderful. However, be aware the reception staff is somewhat indifferent and make sure you double check any arrangement you have made with them. Our rooms 14 and 16 were stunning and were actually connected by our walkout balconies which was perfect for our family. When looking for a luxury property in the Chiang Mai area, the Four Seasons gets all the hype. However, I would beg to differ... 137 Pillars House is right outside the city limits which makes it even more attractive. I only give this wonder boutique hotel 4 stars because I truly suffered from the mosquitos getting into our villa. The outdoor shower (although very topical) was not sealed off properly from the all glass doors leading out to it. Also the doors that opened up the whole bathroom to the outdoors had a large gap where determined mosquitos find their way inside at night.
