I think Chinatown is great. It's busy and grimy and smells awful but people don't hassle you and you can get an amazing dinner for 15B. The hotel is beautiful. The staff are friendly. It's expensive compared to the places round about but very cheap in comparison to Europe. I'd go back again. I've also told my friends about it. Get the steamed custard balls for breakfast. So good. And there is coffee!

This was just perfect. Such a cozy and nice hotel in China Town. The street and neighborhood is a bit rough but this hotel is a nice contrast. The decor is Chinese art deco. The rooms are very neat and you feel at ease at once. We only paid around 30 euros per night for a double. The breakfast for 399 bath per person was really good. You get to choose from an a la carte menu and there is both European and Asian breakfast to choose from and there is a buffet to pick from on top of that. Very sati... Read more

We stayed at the Shanghai Mansion in Bangkok's Chinatown. This was a very charming boutique type hotel, in an extremely active area. We found it surprisingly quiet considering the location. The only negative was the sidewalk out front was torn up for construction, but I can't hold the hotel accountable for that, and I knew about the sidewalk before I arrived. Our flight arrived early in the morning and check-in wasn't for several hours. The staff at the hotel went above and beyond, to get us a r... Read more

This place is very overated but yet the air con it provided gave it a 9 out of 10. We had the great fortune to be there in the longest heatwave in the last 65 years but at least we were able to relax in sheer absolute comfort during the evening and night. The room itself was pretty small and the shower, whilst being superb, was in one of those bathrooms that was totally dysfunctional and very slippery and therefore somewhat dangerous. No coffee, only tea. What a bummer. Overall it was barely a pass... Read more

Chinatown is hectic and not the nicest streets of Bangkok so this oasis was great, bed was hard but surprisingly really comfy, bath was awesome, no privacy between the bed and the toilet/shower (just half frosted glass). No windows in the room but I think that's a great thing when you're in china town. Breaky was expensive (399 baht each per day on top of the room) and the counter staff weren't 100% helpful. Overall, a nice room though.
