Arriving in Bangkok, and in Chinatown no less, it's easy to be overwhelmed by the heat, traffic, and general craziness. Shanghai Mansion is bang in the middle of it all but step inside and it's like an oasis‚??cool, calm, and luxurious. The hotel is lovely, spacious, clean, and nicely decorated with a bar perfect for cooling off in the generous happy hour and live music later on. The staff were always very professional and eager to help; they helped us to make dinner reservations and let us kno... Read more

What a little hidden gem in Chinatown, came over for lunch not expecting this - fantastic. Beautifully restored old Chinese mansion with quite a history. Very tasteful interiors, amazing food (crab spring rolls the best I've had lately) very friendly and helpful staff. We were shown the rooms and will definitely be here for a long weekend, best I've found in Chinatown without a doubt!

Really enjoyed our stay here. A little oasis in the crazy that is Chinatown. Lovely to have the bar area to sit and have a drink at the end of the day and watch the world go by. The breakfast was good, a wide choice. The rooms were cosy and the decor nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would have given it 5 stars if the restaurant prices had been more in line with room rates. Bit pricey. It was a lovely reasonable place to stay. Would recommend it.

This hotel has gorgeous interiors with lovely boutique rooms that are authentic Chinese style. The staff couldn't help us enough on our stay and the clean hotel with powerful showers is definitely a plus. The only downside to this hotel is the location, although in the heart of Chinatown it is great but be prepared to get a taxi everywhere.

We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of our stay. What an amazing place! The rooms are well appointed and comfy, good AC and wifi. Also they have a complimentary mini bar which is replenished daily (water, snacks, soft drinks) Despite being in the hustle and bustle of Chinatown, the rooms are very quiet. Can't fault it on anything, great location and we're glad we have another stay there at the end of our trip.

This was our first stop in Thailand, it was a bit out of the way so had to get taxis/ tuk Tuks everywhere. The hotel itself is lovely, the room door wasn't the sturdiest but wasn't too much of a problem. Staff were friendly and helpful. The main problem was the street the hotel is on - unfortunately it's all dug up, there's no real pavement and the smell wasn't great. I'm sure in the future this won't be the case. We stayed in two different Bangkok hotels before and after a tour. This was definitely the better of the two. Don't judge its very unassuming exterior but the moment you hit the lobby its ace. It was lovely to come from a very Westernized chain hotel to a real taste of Asian culture in the heart of Chinatown. The style is great and its immaculately clean. It was a nice touch that the mini bar was complimentary and that there is a complimentary Tuk Tuk service. You really can't go wrong with this... Read more

They accommodated all my needs, were able to help me get to where I needed to go, and made sure I was taken care of. The room was spacious, albeit dark. The location in Chinatown was nice --but not near the BTS. I was able to get everywhere I needed to by tuk tuk or taxi. I stayed for three days in a grand suite room and absolutely loved this hotel. LOCATION: It is situated on the very busy Yaowarat Road in the China Town district, but inside the hotel is very quiet. I did find it hit-and-miss whether tuk-tuk drivers would know how to find the hotel - some had heard of it, most were unsure - but if you ask them to drop you on Yaowarat, which is a long straight line, it is usually no more than a 5 minute walk from where they let you out. My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this hotel! It was clean, in a central location and had an amazing staff! Everyone was so friendly and made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The rooms were quirky and comfortable and as an added bonus, the Shanghai Mansion provides a complimentary mini bar! Will definitely be returning the next time we end up in Bangkok!
